As the interest on the air pollution is gradually rising up at home and abroad, automotive industries have been working on the exhaust emission reduction from vehicles through a lot of approaches, which consist of new engine design, innovative aftertreatment systems, and using clean fuels. Methanol, ethanol, LNG, LPG, H2, reformulated gasoline are generally recognized as the clean fuel. Since the low price policy of government on LPG has expanded its vehicle market recently, there is concern of the exhaust emission of LPG vehicle. In this paper, we studied the value of LPG fuel as a clean fuel by comparing the results of the exhaust emission from LPG and Gasoline fueled vehicles, and discussed its limitation of LPG vehicle with mixer type as a fuel supply system. FTIR was used to understand the difference of exhaust emission components of LPG and Gasoline fueled vehicles.

The evidence of the Cargo tank volume is very important between Buyer and Seller for agreement each other for LNG Ship. CTS(Custody Transfer System) Radar type level gauging sensor to be measured for cargo volume. The data of Trim & List sensor to be compensated for measuring data which is original data of the CTS sensor. The latest days, the Buyer would have posed a problem both the location and the accuracy of trim/list sensor specially neared final stage of the ship's delivery. So, we would like to report the introducing to the trim/list sensor and the confirmation of actual location for the trim/list sensor.

We develop heat exchanger modules for a multi-burner boiler. The heat exchanger module is kind of a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). This heat recovery system has 4 heat exchanger modules. The 1st module consists of 27 bare tubes due to high temperature exhaust gas and the others consist of 27 finned tubes. The maximum steam pressure of each module is 10 bar and tested steam pressure is 4 bar. In order to test these heat exchanger modules, we make a 0.5t/h flue tube boiler (LNG, $40\;Nm^3/h$). The test results of 100% boiler load show that heat transfer rate of 1st module is 49.7 Mcal/h which is 34% of total heat transfer rate and that of 2nd module is 82.6 Mcal/h which is 57% of total heat transfer rate. The reason of higher the heat transfer rate of 2nd module than that of 1st module is that the 2nd heat exchanger module has finned tubes instead of bare tube. The boiler load 50% results show that only 2 heat exchanger modules are needed to extract the heat from the flue gas to water. From this result, it is very important of optimum design of the first finned tube among all water tubes.
The availability of the thermal energy has been deeply recognized recently to encourage the cascade usage of thermal energy from combustion. Within the framework, a 1 kW class Stirling engine based cogeneration system has been proposed for a unit of a distributed energy system. The capacity has been designed to be adequate for the domestic usage, which requires high compactness as well as low emission and noise. To develop a highly efficient system with satisfying these requirements, a premixed slot type short flame burner has been proposed and a series of numerical simulation has been performed to establish a design tool for the combustion chamber. The thermal radiation model has been found to highly affect the computational results and a proper resolution to analyze the heat transfer characteristics of the high temperature heat exchanger. Finally, the combustion characteristics of the premixed flame with the metal fiber type burner has been studied.
This study was carried out for the purpose of determination of maintenance period and investigation of weak point due to freeze when the gas heater of KOGAS valve station Is not operated in winter season. 3-dimensional non-linear numerical simulation was conducted in order to predict the time and location which bath water in heater reaches to ice point. FLUENT V 5.0, commercial code, is used for thermal fluid flow analysis. We thought this was problem of heat conduction solving the energy equation and modeled gas heater by using the real geometry and scale for performing the 3-dimensional simulation. It was analyzed complex heat transfer phenomena considering convection due to air on surface, conduction in insulation material, natural convection of liquid in heater and heat loss through the pipe.
In general, inlet temperature of cooling sea water for steam turbine condenser is about $25^{\circ}C$ and outlet temperature is about $60^{\circ}C$. For oil cooler, outlet temperature is about $40^{\circ}C$. Therefore corrosion heavily depends on the temperature of the coolant of a heat exchanger system. It is necessary to set the temperature of the cooling water to have maximum heat transfer efficiency. This paper was studied on the effect of temperature on SCC of Al-brass which is used as a tube material of vessel heat exchanger in $3.5\%$ NaCl + $0.1\%\;NH_4OH$ solution under flow by constant displacement tester. Based on the test results, the behavior of polarization characteristic, stress corrosion crack popagation and dezincification characteristic of Al-brass was investigated.

Liquefied gas vaporizer is a machine to vaporize liquefied gas such as liquid nitrogen($LN_{2}$), liquefied natural gas(LNG), liquid oxygen($LO_{2}$) etc. For the air type vaporizer, the frozen dew is created by temperature drop (below 273 K) on vaporizer surface. The layer of ice make a contractions on vaporizer. The structure analysis on the heat transfer was studied to see the effect of geometric parameters of the vaporizer, which are length 1000 mm of various type vaporizer. Structure analysis result such as temperature variation, thermal stress and thermal strain have high efficiency of heat emission as increase of thermal conductivity. As the result, Frist, With-fin model shows high temperature distribution better than without-fin on the temperature analysis. Second, Without-fin model shows double contractions better then with-fin model under the super low temperature load on the thermal strain analysis. Third, Vaporizer fin can be apply not only heat exchange but also a stiffener of structure. Finally, we confirm that All model vaporizer can be stand for sudden load change because of compressive yield stress shows within 280 MPa on thermal stress analysis.
KOGAS, established in 1983 by law to ensure stable gas supply to the public, is responsible for the wholesale distribution to 30 city gas companies that deal with the retail distribution of natural gas in their geographic areas. The gas imported by KOGAS is measured by checking the level difference of LNG shipped in tankers before and after unloading. The analysis of gas composition is essential because the imported gas price is determined by its calorific value. The turbine meter is widely used for measuring the gas sold to city gas companies. Unlike the metering system for power plants, there is no gas chromatograph since the custody transfer of gas to the city gas companies is not billed by calorific value, but by volume basis. The gas quantity that a city gas company has bought from KOGAS is not equal to the quantity that the company sold to its customers. There have been some discrepancies between the wholesale gas meter readouts and retail ones due to some inherent errors of meters and some operational issues of the meters. This paper investigates the controversies regarding the real quantity of gas between distributors and consumers. It will discus and suggest desirable policies, both technically and economically, in order to solve the discrepancies of gas measurement.

In recent years, gas engines fueled with LNG or synthetic gas have been attracting considerable attention for marine use owing to their potential to facilitate better fuel economy and to reduce emissions. It has been confirmed that gas engines using the Otto cycle, which involves premixed combustion, can satisfy Tier III regulations without the EGR or SCR system. The objective of this study is to acquire simulation technologies for predicting gas engine performances in industrial fields. Using the commercial software BOOST, the simulation is conducted on a gasoline engine rather than a marine engine due to the gasoline engine's easier accessibility. This study consists of two stages. In the first stage published previously, the optimal modeling techniques for representing the behavior of the gas in the intake and exhaust systems were determined. In the current study, we formulated a method to evaluate the combustion and heat transfer processes in the cylinder and to ultimately determine the major performance parameters, given that the analytical model derived from the previous stage has been applied. Through this study, we were able to determine a combustion and heat transfer model and a valve discharge coefficient that are less reliant on empirical data: we were also able to formulate a methodology through which relevant constants are decided. We confirmed that the values of transient cylinder pressure variation, indicated mean effective pressure, and air supply can be successfully predicted using our modeling techniques.

This paper presents a method of seismic analysis for a cylindrical liquid storage structure on/in horizontally layered half.space considering the effects of the interior fluid and exterior soil medium in the frequency domain. To capture the essence of fluid-structure-soil interaction effects effectively, a mixed finite element with two-field (u, p) approximation is employed to model the compressive inviscid fluid, while the structure and soil medium are presented by the 3-D axisymmetric finite elements and dynamic infinite elements. The present FE-based method can be applied to the system with complex geometry of fluid region as well as with inhomogeneous near-field soil medium, since it can directly model both the fluid and the soil. For the purpose of verification, dominant peak frequencies in transfer functions for horizontal motions of cylindrical fluid storage tanks with rigid massless foundation on a homogeneous viscoelastic half.space are compared with those by two different added mass approaches for the fluid motion. The comparison indicates that the Present FE-based methodology gives accurate solution for the fluid-structure-soil interaction problem. Finally, as a demonstration of versatility of the present study, a seismic analysis for a real-scale LNG storage tank embedded in layered half.space is carried out, and its member forces along the height of the structure are compared with those by an added mass approach developed by the present writers.
