  • This paper briefly elucidates the journey of Library and Information Science (LIS) journals published from India since 1912-2016. The study explores that 196 LIS journals have been produced in India during the past 11 decades covering the period from 1912-2016. The states namely New Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and West Bengal have contributed significantly andNew Delhi emerges as the most productive city among the others regarding the production of LIS journals. The study reveals that out of total 196 journals, 15 have been indexed in the University Grants Commission Academic Performance Indicators List and 41 have found their place in national and international indexing and abstracting sources.

  • The purpose of the present study is to empirically and theoretically assess the logistics information systems (LIS) success in a quasi-voluntary IS use context. It is important to understand what factors impact the successful use of LIS. The research model is basically based on the framework of IS success proposed by DeLone & McLean(1992) and Seddon(1997). Structural modeling techniques were applied to data collected by questionnaire from 203 LIS users. The results show that user satisfaction play a significant role in influencing the system dependency. The results also revealed that user characteristics is directly affected by perceived usefulness, system quality and information quality, and indirectly influenced by user characteristics.

  • Recently, supporting ATM networks under LINUX operating systems environment has been actively studied. An ATMARP server in a conventional LINUX environment was designed under the ATMARP single-server to operate independently within a Local IP Subnet(LIS). In this paper, an ATMARP multi-server is introduced and implemented an ATMARP-server managing multiple LIS's on the LINUX-based IPOA. The ATMARP protocol processing functions and addition/deletion functions on management tables are required to implement the ATMARP multi-server. These functions can solve the problem of increasing the number of ATMARP servers in ATMARP single-server environment. The file transmission experiment with a connection configuration between LIS's shows that multiple LIS' con be managed by an ATMARP-server. As the results, the ATMARP multi-server scheme yields a smaller number of servers than that of the conventional ATMARP single-server scheme, and the network composition can be improved substantially.

  • Using Bloom's taxonomy model of thinking ability for learning (RBTT) and new ACRL information literacy framework (2016), this study demonstrates the meta-literacy competencies for library specialists and analyses current LIS curriculum of higher education. Some guidelines for reformation of LIS curriculum, emphasizing meta-literacy competencies which are required from Web3.0 information environment, are provided.

  • The information technology(IT) development of telecommunication, along with the information analyzation over the world, enables the firms to process their inner and outer operations through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system. And the concept of logistics has become more important to the enterprises in strategic sense because it had aggrandized itself to more comprehensive and integrative concept. Also the world shipping market is more competitive than any other market. In these environment, to maintain competitive power, shipping firms process operations by Logistics Information system(LIS), And then, reduce the working processes, working time and its costs. So the LIS has become more important in developing our national logistics system and industry. Therefore, this study purposes on empirically analyzing the activation factors of shipping LIS and the relationship these, factors with logistic performances in the shipping industry. Considering environments of Shipping logistics information system, this study sets up the research model and hypothesis to examine the activation factors of shipping LIS and the relationship these factors with logistic performances. We used the field data on the 163 numbers of firms(29 overseas shipping companies and 133 forwarding Agency) to get the empirical evidence. According to the study results, The shipping LIS activation factors which the sample firms recognized as important: were top managers support, well structured communication channel, strategic plans connection and inner information analyzation level. And IS organization & human resources, IS discipline & training, software development, IS organizational alignment, database management system, information standardization, competitive advantage, financial support and government support represent partially significant. Also, the current shipping LISs main problems are expensive system cost, standardization of working processs, institutions imperfection and systems interaction defect. So these problems must be improved to activate shipping LIS.

  • The purpose of this article lies in investigating the problems and limitations of the current LIS education in Korea with an emphasis on the viewpoints of librarians. Also identified are the librarians suggestions for a better LIS educational system, in particular, for the renovation of the current LIS curriculum to upgrade the competencies of future librarians. To this end, 347 librarians from public, academic, special, and school libraries were e-mail surveyed. And the collected data were analyzed and interpreted to find out the specific problems and suggestions based on the types of libraries as well as the overall problems and suggestions.

  • The aims of this study are to investigate the influence of the newly developed cataloging rule, RDA on the LIS cataloging education and to propose Korean LIS cataloging curriculum in a time of RDA. This study specially intended to examine the coexistence of the AACR and RDA and its implications on the LIS cataloging curricula design in the limited time of the course of study. For this purpose, this study examined the rapidly changing cataloging circumstances and how it affects on the cataloging education in LIS. This study also explored the students' as well as instructors' opinion and demand on cataloging education specially regarding RDA. As a result, this paper designed a cataloging education model including RDA curriculum and it also suggested cataloging syllabus based on the education model.

  • An online experiment was conducted to test the subject-knowledge view of relevance theory in order to find evidence of a conceptual basis for relevance. Six experts in Library and Information Science (LIS), nine Master's students of LIS, and twelve non-experts judged the relevance of 14 abstracts within and outside of the LIS domain. Consistency among the judges was calculated by joint-probability agreement (PA) and interclass correlation coefficients (ICC). When using PA to analyze the judgements, non-experts had a higher consensus regardless of the task or division of groups. However, ICC calculations found Master's candidates had a higher level of consensus than non-experts within LIS, although the experts did not; and the agreement rates on the non-LIS task for all groups were only poor to moderate. It was only when the groups were analyzed as two groups (experts including Master's candidates and non-experts) that the expected trend of higher consistency among experts in the LIS task was seen.
