In this paper, the fabrication of a white light-emitting diode (WLED) package capable of producing different color rendering indexes (CRI ($R_a$)) using different types of phosphors (YAG:Ce, Silicate, Nitride, LuAG) for the LEDs is presented. The color quality is evaluated based on the current and temperature variation conditions. The evaluation method for color quality compares the existing CIE 13.3 method and the new IES TM-30-15 method. The CRI ($R_a$) defined in the conventional CIE 13.3 has the disadvantage. This cannot offer any information relevant to the user's preference. However, the newly proposed IES TM-30-15 method suggests the additional measure related to user's preference such as Color Gamut ($R_g$). The present experimental results obtained using the IES TM-30-15 show that the color quality of the WLEDs using green and red phosphors are better than that of the WLEDs using yellow phosphor, but their luminous efficacies are lower. The color quality of WLEDs using green and red phosphors are more stable than that of the WLEDs using yellow phosphor, for current and temperature variations, and it is verified that the phosphor causes this change. The evaluation method for color quality, based on IES TM-30-15, is proved to be capable of overcoming the problems of the existing evaluation methods by this study.
Green phosphors $(Zn_{1-a-b}M_aM^{\prime}_b)_xGa_yS_{x+3y/2}:Eu^{2+}$ (M, M' = alkali earth ions) with x = 2 and y = 2-5 were prepared, starting from ZnO, MgO, $SrCO_3$, $Ga_2O_3$, $Eu_2O_3$, and S with a flux $NH_4F$ using a conventional solidstate reaction. A phosphor with the composition of $(Zn_{0.6}Sr_{0.3}Mg_{0.1})_2Ga_2S_5:Eu^{2+}$ produced the strongest luminescence at a 460-nm excitation. The observed XRD patterns indicated that the optimized phosphor consisted of two components: zinc thiogallate and zinc sulfide. The characteristic green luminescence of the $ZnS:Eu^{2+}$ component on excitation at 460 nm was attributed to the donor-acceptor ($D_{ZnGa_2S_4}-A_{ZnS}$) recombination in the hybrid boundary. The optimized green phosphor converted 17.9% of the absorbed blue light into luminescence. For the fabrication of light-emitting diode (LED), the optimized phosphor was coated with MgO using magnesium nitrate to overcome their weakness against moisture. The MgO-coated green phosphor was fabricated with a blue GaN LED, and the chromaticity index of the phosphor-cast LED (pc-LED) was investigated as a function of the wt % of the optimized phosphor. White LEDs were fabricated by pasting the optimized green (G) and the red (R) phosphors, and the commercial yellow (Y) phosphor on the blue chips. The three-band pc-WLED resulted in improved color rendering index (CRI) and corrected color temperature (CCT), compared with those of the two-band pc-WLED.

As headlamp technology advances, newly developed various headlamps were introduced in the market. The objective of this study is to quantitatively analyze the detection distance of the recently developed LED headlamps and existing headlamps, complying with specific technical standard. Background: The detection distance of headlamps is very important to prevent automobile accident at night time. The studies of detection distance of LED, Halogen and HID headlamp have been conducted, but no study has shown the detection distance of pedestrian target with various colors (Black, White, Blue). Method: The experiment of detection distance was conducted with 30 people, which divide into 2 groups as 15 men and 15 women. Automatic transferable target on the rail was manufactured in order to reduce the error of study's result, and ANOVA also conducted to analyze the main effect with sign color, sex and headlamp classified by detection distance. In addition, the luminance by average detection distance was measured as well. Results: The detection distance of headlamps was HID > LED > Halogen. The luminance measure of LED headlamp was lower than HID and Halogen headlamps. Conclusion: The headlamp performs a very significant role for safety at night time but it needs to be improved through assessment of visual characteristics. Also, it needs to be suggested the need of test method for dynamic detection distance concerning technical development is suggested.
This user-centered research aims to empirically evaluate color temperature (K) and illuminance (lx) of residential bathroom lightings to determine the most optimal lighting conditions for productive task performance as well as for satisfying users' emotional needs. Using 3 LED lighting fixtures, 4 types of lighting contexts were investigated; main lighting, task lighting, shower lighting, and bath lighting. Two lightings were installed parallel to the vertical edges of the main bathroom mirror to be used as main and task lighting, while another fixture was installed above the bathtub to be used for shower and bathing. For each lighting context, subjects (N=54) were instructed to perform a few tasks during which time the users were exposed to different lighting conditions with color temperature ranging from 2700 K ~ 6500 K and illuminance ranging from 100 lx ~ 700 lx. Upon completing the given tasks, subjects were asked to evaluate the lighting conditions and their applicability for performing the given tasks. Based on the user evaluations, the most optimal lighting conditions for the different lighting scenarios are as follow: 1) 3500 K ~ 4300 K and 150 lx for main lighting, 2) 3500 K ~ 4300 K and 500 lx ~ 700 lx for task lighting, and 3) 2700 K ~ 3500 K and 100 lx ~ 150 lx for shower/bath lighting. These results can be used to adjust the lighting standards suggested by KS, as well as be utilized by both engineers and designers in designing new types of user-centered bathroom lightings.
To establish the optimum formular for processing bread with steam-dried Hizikia fusiformis flour(SHF), it was incorporated into wheat flour by the ratio of 0, 1, 3, 5 and 7% based on a flour weight. Evaluation was performed on the rheological and sensory profile of bread, such as specific loaf volume, water holding capacity(WHC) and height, appearance and Hunter's color value, mechanical texture properties, and sensory value. Increase in the addition of SHF led to the tendency that the expansive force of dough fermentation reduced, and an increase in the textural properties of bread. And cohesiveness, gumminess, and chewiness indicated the tendency of a little reduction as influenced by adding more dried Hizikia fusiformis powder. As for sensory properties and flavor components of the white bread, in case of color and flavor, more than 3% of increase in the addition of the dried Hizikia fusiformis powder led to a drop in preference, and more addition led to a fall in taste and softness. Overall, it was found that adding less than 3% of dried Hizikia fusiformis powder is proper for dough in breadmaking.

The white-light-emitting organic LED(OLED) with two-wavelength was fabricated using the DPVBi of blue emitting material and a series of orange color fluorescent dye(Rubrene) by vacuum evaporation processes. The basic structure of white-light-emitting OLED was ITO/NPB(150$\AA$)/DPVBi/Rubrene/BCP(100$\AA$)/Alq$_3$(150$\AA$)/Al(600$\AA$). We analyzed the fabricated device through the changes of the DPVBi and Rubrene layer's thickness. We obtained the white-light-emitting OLED with white color light and the CIE coordinate of the device was (0.29, 0.33) at applied voltage of 13V when the thickness of DPVBi layer was 210$\AA$ and the thickness of Rubrene layer was 180$\AA$. At a current of 100㎃/$\textrm{cm}^2$, the quantum efficiency was 0.35% and at a voltage of 20V, it was 0.405%.
In this study, research trends were investigated by examining important academic research on museum lighting that has been carried out in Korea over the past 30 years. The aim was to highlight important studies conducted in Korea on material deterioration caused by museum lighting and to examine the current status of research on LED light sources to provide direction for future research. The ultimate goal of studies on museum lighting is to improve the long-term conservation effects, and this study examined the latest light sources of each era. Prior to the 1990s, the effects of light sources on relics were assessed by investigating incandescent light bulbs and fluorescent lamps, the first museum exhibition lighting. Then in the 1990s, the introduction of halogen lamps and HID lamps led to the analysis of the characteristics of a light source itself and the introduction of illumination standards. In the 2000s, the lighting environment of museums was investigated based on the characteristics of the light sources that had been studied, and in terms of preservation, research was conducted not only to improve the conservation of relics but also to improve the sentiments of visitors. After 2010, LED lamps were introduced; therefore, material deterioration studies on LED lamps were expanded. During this period, enhancements to LED light sources were made, such as reducing the blue spike area and increasing color rendering. With the development of lighting used in museums and art galleries, the direction of the display preservation criteria has led to the need to prepare advanced standards, covering all aspects from the center of illumination to the consideration of the color of an object and the speed of radiation from the light source. Regular studies of museum lighting in a long-term perspective should be planned to standardize the more advanced conditions of material discoloration.

The main goal of this work is to fabricate light emitting diode (LED) module and apply it to mobile handset. We first fabricated the blue-color LED based on the AlInGaN cell structure with size of $200\;{\mu}m\;{\times}\;200\;{\mu}m$. Also we proposed a new $1.0\;mm\;{\times}\;0.5\;mm$ (1005size) packaging procedure for the LED cell. Thus the overall dimension of our LED cell was as small as $1.0\;mm\;{\times}\;0.5\;mm\;{\times}\;0.4\;mm$ ($W\;{\times}\;L\;{\times}\;T$). As far as we knew it was the first time that this small LED cell dimension had been fabricated and operated.
Due to the wavelength shift problem of micro LED caused by the change of current density, the active matrix driving pixel circuit that is used in OLED cannot be applied to micro LED displays. Therefore, we need a gray scale method based on modulation of duration time of light emission. In this study, we propose the PWM-controlled micro LED pixel circuit based on CMOS thin film transistors (TFTs). By adopting CMOS inverter structure, we can reduce the number of storage capacitors from the circuit and make the operating speed of the circuit faster. Most of all, our circuit is designed to make operating speed of PWM circuit faster by adopting feedback effect through double gate TFT structure. As a result, it takes about 4.7ns to turn on the LED and about 5.6ns to turn it off. This operating time is short enough to avoid the color distortion and help the precise control of the gray scale.
