  • This paper confirms the similarity of temperature tendency through numerical analysis and comparison with test, and it also confirms that temperature prediction of LED lightings is possible by numerical analysis. We confirmed that the temperature difference is about $10{\sim}20^{\circ}C$ except for some measurement points and shows similar tendency with the interpretation through manufacturing and performance analysis of AL heat sink applied Circular LED street lights and manufacturing and performance analysis of CMP-PLA heat sink applied Circular LED street lights. The simulations use Octree technique in SC/Tetra to set the grid size df the surface.

  • This paper presents a fully digital controlled power supply unit for the wireless controlled dimmable LED lighting system. The proposed power supply designed using a fly-back converter, which is directly controlled by a microprocessor. Although the proposed circuit does not sense the AC input current and has not AC input voltage feed-forward, it can achieve a high power factor. The proposed power supply directly regulates the output power for LED loads using the PWM and PFM control of the fly-back converter without additional regulator. For a wireless remote control function, the Zigbee modem is equipped in the proposed power supply. A prototype set-up has been built and tested. Through the experiment with a prototype set-up, the usefulness of the proposed power supply is verified.

  • It is highly important issue to use an energy efficiently for sustainable prosperity of mankind. From this point of view, using LED lighting can be a good alternative because it has a lot of advantages such as high efficiency, long life time and eco-friendly manufacturing process. That is the reason why using LED lighting has been encouraged worldwide. However, in situations that LED lighting is replacing traditional lighting quickly, the problem of the flicker of LED lighting has emerged as an important issue. Therefore, in foreign countries like US or Japan in order to ensure the reliability of LED lighting, study for flickering effects of the human body and test methods are have been actively conducted. But related research in domestic situation is an insufficient condition. In this study, a flicker characteristic was measured conventional lamps such as incandescent lamps or fluorescent lamp and 81 items of LED lightings which are distributed in domestic markets.

  • That's the reason why LED lighting has to employ AC power inlet. However, LED is a kind of diode, semiconductor, it's driven by DC power. With whis reason all of LED lighting should have AC/DC converter in its systems. This converter causes energy loss, it's the target for lesson the energy loss. To reduce this energy loss, DC power distribution structure can be used. LED lighting system using LVDC is a kind of DC power distribution structure, but LVDC has severe voltage drop which makes non-uniform brightness in lighting system. In this paper, we suggest a novel structure for the uniform brightness in LVDC LED lighting system using IoT based network system. The constructed test-bed system of suggested structure shows this structure can con control the brightness with uniformity.

  • Unlike traditional lightings, LED lighting is one of objects that sends user an emotional segments through brightness control from various color temperature and dimming control. Also, within present interior lighting environment, emotional researches about traditional fluorescent lamp and newly implemented LED lighting environment are in active progress. Despite the fact adjectives describing emotions and scale modeling have been repeatedly used in many cases for a long time, there seems to be a lack of results in reliability, and there is a limitation for applying into actual lighting design. The purpose of this study is to construct an actual sized test-bed, which is used to draw out one's emotional words of behavior patterns from inner emotional experiences about lighting environment in an office space. Also, having fluorescent lamp and LED lighting as the main test subjects, we have tested emotional parts according to the changes of color temperature and adjective vocabularies chosen from user's action, and we have compared and analyzed the drawn out data. • An efficient cooling system is an essential part of the electronic packaging such as a high-luminance LED lighting. A special technology, Pulsating Heat Pipe (PHP), can be applied to improve cooling of a sealed, explosion-proof LED light fixture. In this paper, the characteristics of the pulsating heat pipes in the imposed thermal boundary conditions of LED lightings were experimentally investigated and a PHP device that works free of alignment angle was investigated for cooling of explosion-proof LED lights. Five working fluids of ethanol, FC-72, R-123, water, and acetone were chosen for comparison. The experimental pulsating heat pipe was made of copper tubes of internal diameter of 2.1 mm, 26 turns. A variable heat source of electric heater and an array of cooling fins were attached to the pulsating heat pipe. For the alignment of the heating part at bottom, an optimum charging ratio (liquid fluid volume to total volume) was about 50% for most of the fluids and water showed the highest heat transfer performance. For the alignment of the heating part on top, however, only R-123 worked in an un-looped construction. This unique advantage of R-123 is attributed to its high vapor pressure gradient. Applying these findings, a cooling device for an explosion-proof type of LED light rated 30 W was constructed and tested successfully.
