LED sign board design using solar cells (태양전지를이용한 LED 표식장치 설계)

  • This paper presents the design of the LED sign board system installed on the exterior of a building and powered by a photovoltaic system. A grid connected photovoltaic system has been designed with the capacity estimate of the load, battery and power. After the luminance and uniformity of LED load has been checked, the sign board and the solar cell modules have been installed. The performance and problems occurred during the field test for the photovoltaic LED sign board system have been analyzed.

  • Aviation obstacle lights including controller for the safe night aviation service have applied to high voltage transmission line of which height is from $60{\sim}180 m$, Fresnel lens made by Augustine Fresnel have been applied to light houses, These Fresnel lens were applied to aviation obstacle lights and have been universally used, It was reported that Fresnel lens for aviation obstacle light was used in the first place in Korea in 1987, LEDs have recently been applied to aviation obstacle lights, So, the optimum physical design is essential to the design of aviation obstacle light. In this study, optical and three dimensional modeling of LED module and globe lens were performed, And thermal analysis due to LED thermal source and service thermal condition in high voltage transmission line was performed and was analyzed comparing with experiments, The optimum design process of medium intensity LED aviation obstacle lights was constructed with three dimensional modeling, thermal analysis, and thermal experimental technique.

A Basic Study on the Application of Composite Materials for the Light-weight LED Beacon (LED 등명기 경량화를 위한 복합재료 적용 기초 연구)

  • We developed the high-power LED beacon and investigated the applicability of composite materials for the light-weight design of LED beacon. By means of the application of composite materials, the vertical deformation could be reduced by 17% and the total weight of LED beacon 8.9 kg comparable to 20% light-weighting against aluminum beacon. In thermal radiation test, the maximum temperature of LED package was measured to $63.5^{\circ}C$ under ambient temperature ($20^{\circ}C$), which is acceptable considering both performance and lifespan of LED packages. In this study, the applicability of composite materials was demonstrated for light-weight design of high-power LED beacon.

  • Although significant amount of research has been done to develop LED lamp packages for improved performance, no standard theories or guidelines have been established yet for designing LED lamp packages. In this paper, the photon extraction efficiency depending on both the InGaN/Sapphire LED chip structure and its attachment schemes for chip mounting has been analyzed by using the Monte Carlo photon simulation method. Based on the results of the analysis, we have derived guidelines for LED lamp package design, which can be utilized in industries or research institutes for designing new LED lamp packages optimized for particular applications.

  • An LED sensor luminaire for visual function improvement necessitates the control algorithm for light level adjustment and the appropriate lens design. The control algorithm adapts to surround lighting condition, and thus has the advantages of energy saving and glare reduction. The multi-cell lens design improves color temperature uniformity and spatial light distribution of the luminaire. Experimental and simulated results show that this approach contributes noticeably to energy saving and color temperature uniformity of the LED sensor luminaire.

Performance Improvement for Visible Light Communications Using Pre-Equalizer and Optical Design (전치 등화기와 광학설계를 이용한 가시광통신 전송 용량 및 거리 향상 연구)

  • In this paper, we design the pre-equalizer of transmitter circuit in order to enhancement modulation bandwidth of white LED which is light source of VLC (Visible Light Communication). Also, we eliminate yellow light component by optical filtering which mitigate frequency response of white LED. Power loss by optical filtering is overcome by using convex lens. By applying proposed system, 3 dB bandwidth deciding modulation bandwidth of white LED increases from 3 MHz to more than 25 MHz and the transmission distance increases by optical design which secure additional signal power. We optically modulate NRZ-OOK signal to LED and receive light signal using APD. We analyze received data using CSA and RFSA. As a result, we experimently demonstrate the possibility that transmits NRZ-OOK signal up to 30 Mbps in 4.5 m, 50 Mbps in 1.5 m through the pre-equalizer and optical design.

  • This research was designed 700 level power MOSFET for smart LED driver ICs package. And we analyzed electrical characteristics of the power MOSFET as like breakdown voltage, on-resistance and threshold voltage. Because this research is important optimal design for smart LED ICs package, we designed power MOSFET with design and process parameter. As a result of this research, we obtained $60{\mu}m$ N-drift layer depth, 791.29 V breakdown voltage, $0.248{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ on resistance and 3.495 V threshold voltage. We will use effectively this device for smart LED driver ICs package.

  • In this paper, a study of the design of a lighting optical system to form indirect light was conducted, to reduce the glare caused by the hot spot of the LED. In the case of using an LED for indoor lighting, glare is caused because of the high luminance and non-uniform luminance distribution. In particular, LED stands are located close to the user's eyes and are used for a long time, so research to reduce glare is essential. Therefore, in this paper an optical system structural study and the design of an LED stand for glare reduction were conducted. Afterward, the luminance analysis and comparison to an existing LED stand product confirmed that the reflective LED stand proposed in this paper had better performance in terms of glare.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 고연령자를 대상으로 신체 활력 징후의 실시간 정보를 사용자가 스스로 파악 할 수 있는 '자가 헬스케어 제품'을 제안하는 것이다. 신체 활력 징후의 실시간 정보 표출을 위한 제품들의 사례 분석을 통해 기술적 요인과 표현 방법을 추출하고, '장착형 헬스 케어 제품'으로 모듈하기 위해 활용센서와 LED 표출방식에 대한 방법을 도출하였다. Vital Sign(활력 증후) 중 맥박의 실시간 정보는 맥박센서를 통해 추출 되며, 추출 된 정보는 Arduino로 작성 된 알고리즘을 통해 LED 불빛으로 전환 표출된다.

  • The study carried out in this dissertation focuses on the lens structure design and the light distribution for LED safety luminaires using COB type LED module. Lens structures for LED lights has been designed 1) to induce light diffusion by dual process of internal reflection and refraction, 2) to minimize the inherent LED lights' glittering, and 3) to have uniform brightness. The lens designed with the proposed structures function as diffusers for the divergence of the LED lights so that they form a wide angle of view and adjust the light distribution. We designed of lens with stable uniformity factor and average roughness using aspheric optics property. Finally we made the analysis data of the simulated data.
