This study evaluates the improved effect of photodynamic therapy (PDT) by subjecting pathogenic bacteria to a combination of 630 nm light-emitting diode (LED) and 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA). Bacterial suspensions of 1.5×104 cells/mL were diluted and exposed to ALA concentrations of 10, 5, 2.5, 1.25, and 0.625 mg/mL, incubated for 30 minutes, followed by irradiation with 630 nm LED (18 J/cm2 ). The non-irradiated P. aeruginosa group and the group administered only LED light averaged 415 and 245 colonies, respectively. Conversely, the PDT group showed an average of 109, 225, 297, and 285 colonies at concentrations of 10, 5, 2.5, and 1.25 mg/mL of ALA. Evaluating the effect on E. faecalis revealed an average of 8,750 and 8,000 colonies in the group that did not receive the control photosensitizer and the group exposed to light alone, respectively. However, an average of 0, 2350, 4825, and 7475 colonies at concentrations of 5, 2.5, 1.25, and 0.625 mg/mL ALA were determined for the PDT groups. In conclusion, better inhibitory effects were observed for E. faecalis than for P. aeruginosa. Moreover, our results validate the possibility of improved PDT efficacy using a combination of ALA and 630 nm LED.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the in-vitro efficacy of PDT using red light emitting diode (LED) with Radachlorin for biofilm inhibition of clinical Candida albicans isolates. The suspensions containing C. albicans at $9{\times}10^8CFU/mL$ were prepared on yeast nitrogen base containing 5% glucose. The biofilm formation was grown for 3 h after seeding suspensions each 100 ul on a 96-well plate and then supernatant was discarded. Each well was treated with $0.39{\mu}g/mL$ from $50{\mu}g/mL$ concentrations of Radachlorin on adherent biofilm. After a 30-minute incubation, light was irradiated for 30, 60, or 90 minutes using the following light source of wavelength 630 nm LED, at energy densities of 14, 29, and $43J/cm^2$. Afterwards, all supernatant was removed and dried. Adherent cells were stained with safranin O and dried. The cell viability was measured using a microplate reader at 490 nm. Also, a fluorescent signal on C. albicans was observed by saturation of a photosensitizer. In conclusion, a significant inhibition of 72.5% was observed to C. albicans on biofilm at the Radachlorin dose of $50{\mu}g/mL$ with 630 nm LED. The Photosensitizer (Radachlorin) was adequate at 30 minuttes for C. albicans. Overall, the results showed that inhibition of biofilm formation was Radachlorine dose-dependent. The results suggest that PDT, using Radachlorin with 630 nm LED, is able to decrease biofilm formation of C. albicans.

In LED chip packaging, die bonding is a very important process which fixes the LED chip on the lead flame to provide enough strength for the next process. During the process, inspection processes are very important to detect exact locations of dispensed epoxy dots and to determine bonding status of dies whether they are lies at exact positions with sufficient bonding strength. In this study, a useful machine vision based inspection system is proposed for the LED die bonder. In the proposed system, 2 cameras are used for epoxy dot position detection and 2 cameras are sued for die attaching status determination. New vision processing algorithm is proposed, and its efficiency is verified through required field experiments. Measured position error is less than $X:-29{\mu}m$, $Y:-32{\mu}m$ and rotation error:$3^{\circ}$ using proposed vision algorithm. It is concluded that the proposed machine vision based inspection system can be successfully implemented on the developed die bonding system.
This paper is to introduce a lighting source controller using high brightness LED to create a clear and reliable condition for an accurate measurement and testing, which is a core technology in clinical image system and mechanical automation system. This controller is designed to supply a stable power in a constant-current system by installing a high brightness LED driver, and to improve the reproducibility of brightness by using 32-bit ARM processor core, dividing brightness quantity into 256 levels, making the remote control and the external interface possible, and preventing and digitizing the brightness inaccuracy caused by errors of resistance values. This controller enables the lighting range to be wide and possible in a low lighting level compared to analog, adds the RS-485 communication function, and makes it for the users to control the on-off function and the dimming level by receiving date from an external device.
When we wear contact lenses for correcting astigmatism, we often experience the axis-rotation of contact lenses that is happened in case we could not fit the axis of lens exactly or by the eyelid used to blink. In this case, because the exact correcting state becomes in the wrongly correcting state, the asthenopia is led, and the decline of eyesight can be led. For this reason, we need to know axis-rotating degrees of contact lenses. If a contact lens rotated, a residual astigmatism may be detected in the refraction examination after wearing. Using this, we developed a program that calculates the axis-rotating amount of contact lenses.
A 6-month-old, castrated male, Korean short-haired cat was referred with intermittent hematuria. Physical and laboratory examination including complete blood count and serum biochemistry profiles showed no specific findings. Ultrasonography revealed a cystic lesion of the mid-abdomen, which was approximately $2{\times}2cm$ in size. FNA cytology of cystic fluid showed numerous cholesterol crystals of varying size and shape and granulomatous inflammation. CT examination showed fluid-filled large cystic lesion in the left side of the abdomen. Taken together, this case was diagnosed as unilateral (left) renal dysplasia and cystic inflammation led by cholesterol crystallization in the left kidney.
The history of the pregnancy test started in ancient Egypt with a germination test using wheat and barley. Since then, unscientific methods have been used from the days of Hippocrates and Galen to the Middle Ages when uroscopy was used, even until the early 1800s. On the other hand, since the mid-1800s, scientific methods and evidence have begun to emerge, which led to scientific research on the physiological characteristics of pregnancy. The first attempt to utilize these scientific findings was initiated with the bioassay by Aschheim and Zondek using rats and mice in 1927, and then developed into experiments using rabbits and frogs. The immunoassay method, which started in the 1960s, contributed greatly to the generalization of the pregnancy tests while improving the problems of the bioassay. In 1976, a pregnancy test kit was introduced that can be used at home, contributing to the popularization of pregnancy tests. Since the 1980s, technological advances in diagnostic tests have also been applied to pregnancy tests to further improve the reliability of the diagnosis of pregnancy. In the 2000s, the accuracy and ease of use of the pregnancy test kits for home use have improved drastically. This study examined the history and scientific development of the pregnancy test.

The proposed the automatic control system were constructed of a power line modem part and monitoring part, streetlight controller part for the high speed communication frequency band and streetlight ballasts characterization and real-time remote control using a high-speed PLC network, and it was designed to meet to lighting grades conditions of KS road lighting standards. The proposed automatic control system were easy monitoring of the power consumption using PC through to the comparison result of the existing streetlight system. As a result, it was confirmed to the possibility of efficient operation for the real-time monitoring and maintenance by induction of reasonable power consumption through to the LED streetlight state checking and remote-control. In addition, we proved to improvement of expected effects for the power cost savings, the energy efficiency, and streetlight differentiation and advanced.
A four-year old, female Miniature Pinscher was presented with intermittent coughing. Thoracic radiography and ultrasonography revealed the consolidation of left cranial lung lobe surrounded by pleural effusion and the extraction of left lung lobe was performed through thoracotomy. This case has the clinical significance because lung lobe torsion was diagnosed by non-cardiac ultrasonographic examination, therefore surgical correction was performed without delay and led good outcome. Moreover, the authors believe the present case was the first report on lung lobe torsion in Miniature Pinscher dog.
