Phase-Separated Pixel Isolation Method for Roll-to-Roll Processing in Flexible Liquid Crystal Displays

  • We propose new fabrication methods of a pixel-isolated liquid crystal (LC) structure for flexible display applications. In the LC structure fabricated through the proposed method, the patterned interpixel walls for sustaining the cell thickness are supported by the solidified polymer layer through anisotropic phase separation of LC/polymer composite, causing the alignment of the LC molecules to have very good mechanical stability against external pressure. In addition, we show that such pixel-isolating walls can be made by the stamping method which can be applied to fabricate large size plastic LCDs by roll-to-roll processing.

나노 임프린트 리소그래피법에 의한 나노미터급 원기둥 패턴을 갖는 도광판의 제작 공정 개발 (Development of Fabrication Process of Light Guiding Plate with Nanometer-Sized-Cylindrical Pattern Using Nano Imprint Lithography Method)

  • PMMA light guiding plate with nano pattern was fabricated by nano imprint lithography method. A silicon mold for electroplating of nickel was fabricated by conventional photolithography process. A nickel stamp for nano imprint lithography was fabricated by electroplating process using silicon mold. The nano imprint lithography was performed on PMMA plate at $140^{\circ}C$ under pressure of 20kN. The nano pattern on PMMA plate was investigated using FE-SEM. It is shown that the patterns were well transferred for several steps and the nano imprint lithography method could be applied for fabricating patterns of light guiding plate.

스핀코터의 진동 평가를 통한 이상 검출 시스템 개발 (Fault Detection System Development for a Spin Coater Through Vibration Assessment)

  • Spin coaters are the essential instruments in micro-fabrication processes, which apply uniform thin films to flat substrates. In this research, a spin coater diagnosis system is developed to detect the abnormal operation of TFT-LCD process in real time. To facilitate the real-time data acquisition and analysis, the circular-buffered continuous data transfer and the short-time Fourier transform are applied to the fault diagnosis system. To determine whether the system condition is normal or not, a steady-state detection algorithm and a frequency spectrum comparison algorithm using confidence interval are newly devised. Since abnormal condition of a spin coater is rarely encountered, algorithm is tested on a CD-ROM drive and the developed program is verified by a function generator. Actual threshold values for the fault detection are tuned in a spin coater in process.

  • Since a pattern defects "repair" system using a diode pumped solid state laser for Flat Panel Display (FPD) was suggested, a lot of laser systems have been explored and developed for mass-production microfabrication process. A maskless lithography system using 405 nm violet laser and Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) has been developed for PDP and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Thin Film Transistor (TFT) photolithography process. In addition, a "Laser Direct Patterning" system for Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) for Plasma Display Panel(PDP) has been evaluated one of the best successful examples for laser application system which is applied for mass-production lines. The "heat" and "solvent" free laser microfabrications process will be widely used because the next-generation flat panel displays, Flexible Display and Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) should use plastic substrates and organic materials which are very difficult to process using traditional fabrication methods.

미세 패턴 응용 도광판 제작에 관한 연구 (A study on fabrication of a micro patterned LGP)

  • Micro pyramid pattern and its array are designed to enhance the brightness and its uniformity of LGP which is one of key parts in LCD. The designed micro pyramid patterns are fabricated on a Si-wafer first through MEMS process and then a Ni-stamper is electro-plated from the Si pattern master. Adopting the fabricated Ni-stamper, LGPs are injection molded at different mold temperatures and the fidelity of the pattern replication is estimated for each molding conditions and pattern locations. The replicated patterns are found to have some defect such as local short shot or micro weld line which are believed to have negative effect on the performance of the LGP.

  • FFU are used increasingly by the microeleceronics industry to provide clean recirculating air for the fabrication of integrated circuits and laminar flow air. There may be several hundred ffu in a large cleanroom, covering 100% of the ceiling area. Hence, there is of often knowledge in the inside and outside of the country the flu give rise to noise & vibration trouble to microelectronics industry. Noise & Vibration control for satisfication about noise & vibration criteria in TFT-LCD factory cleanroom be in need of exact noise & vibration data of accurence from utility & equipment that can be exert a bad influence upon cleanroom. In this pater, hence we found out noise and vibration properities of ffu by using experimental method. And, we performed noise & vibration analysis about noise it vibration level in cleanroom using semiempirical method for quantative approach about noise & vibration level in cleanroom.

  • Conventional patterning based on wet-process for multi-layered film is a relatively complex and costly process though it is a necessary step for fabrication of TFT-LCD module. Recently, a direct pattering by laser has been studied because it is low cost and simple process compared to the wet process. In this work, the selective removal process of multi-layered film (polyimide/indium tin oxide/glass) is studied by modeling the thermal and mechanical behavior for multi-layered structure. Especially, the effects of thickness of polyimide layer are examined.

  • This paper explains the design and fabrication of an inverter for LCD backlight using a multilayer piezoelectric transformer. That inverter is operated by the burst dimming method whose dimming signal is controlled by the duty ratio of rectangular switching signal to a PWM controller. The brightness of CCFL's are investigated according to the various dimming signals, and when those CCFL's are turned on, the temperature distributions on the piezoelectric transformer and circuit components of the inverter are also investigated by a thermo-camera.

  • The on-current of offset and LDD structured devices in slightly decreased while the off-current are remarkably reduced and almost constant independent of gate and drain voltage because offset and LDD regions behave as a series resistance and reduce the lateral electric field in the drain depletion. Degradation of these devices is dependent upon the offset and LDD length rather than doping concentration in these regions. Also, degradation mechanism has been related to the interface generation rather than the hot carrier injection into gate oxide.

The Design and fabrication of food waste system

  • After a weight-rate disposal system for food waste has been implemented we have to install the food waste system at all apartment. In this paper, we supplied electric energy to the food waste system using solar heat panels. The weight of the food waste is displayed on the LCD panel, and its price is calculated based on its weight. Since there would be some cases that touch-typed card can't be well recognized if it is contaminated by foreign material, we designed a recognition device by no-touch sensitive card reader to embody the food waste system. The food waste system was designed using a GUI(graphical user interface) so that users can easily understand it.
