A Voltage Inverter Switch With a New Clocking Scheme and its Application to Switched Capacitor Filter Design (새로운 Clocking 방식에 의한 Voltage Inverter Switch 및 Switched Capacitor Filter 설계에의 응용)

  • This paper proposes a method of generalizing the clocking scheme in the Switched Capacitor Filter(SCF) design using Voltage Inverter Switches (VIS's). Parallel RC and RL elements, and parallel LC resonators can be implemented by the proposed clocking schemes Applying these new elements and the generalized clocking schemes to the SCF design, the total number of required operational amplifiers and capacitors can be reduced. Experimental results of a band- stop filter and a low-pass filter using a new type grounded VIS show good agreements with t he theoretical characteristics.

  • A high ignition voltage is required to turn on the metal halide discharge(MHD) lamp. The igniter with high frequency resonance circuit needs more devices, such as sidac, arc-gab, SCR(silicon control rectifier), DIAC and so of which increase the complexity and decrease the reliability of the ignitor. This paper analyzes and designs a simple LC resonance type igniter without any extra switch devices. Moreover, the igniter will not influence the steady-state operation of the lamp. Through the mathematical analysis, the computer simulation and experiment results of a prototype ballast for 1[kW] metal halide lamp(MHL) lamp, the proposed igniter was verified to be effective.

Analysis of chaotic with lossless time-delayed chua's circuit (무손실 시간 지연을 갖는 Chua 회로에서의 카오스 해석)

  • Chua's circuit is a simple electronic network which exhibits a variety of bifurcation and attractors. The circuit consists of two capacitors, a linear resistor, and a nonlinear resistor. In this papre we analyze a circuit obtained by replacing the parallel LC resonator in the Chua's circuit by lossless transmission line. By using the method of characteristics of this circuit we show that various periodic motions and chaotic motions can the attained according to parameter variations. From Chua's circuit with a lossless transmission line a variely of chaotic attractors which are similar to those of the normal Chua's circuit are observed.

  • It is necessary to install the arc generation facility to obtain the important technology for the design of breakers and switches, and the improvement of their performance and reliability. With this facility it is possible to study the characteristics of Arc in air/gas/vacuum insulation environment. The arc generation facility briefly consists of capacitor bank which can charge enormous energy, an air-core reactor, and several measurement equipments. This facility can simulates the arc phenomena in breakers and switches by means of generating high currents. In order to the protect electrode damage during the arcing time in arc extinguishing chamber, we installed auxiliary current source in addition to main capacitor bank, This auxiliary current source produces relatively small arc between electrodes before high current generation by main capacitor bank. Therefore it is possible to observe and measure the arcing phenomenon without damage of electrodes.

  • 전력선 통신용 LC 공진필터에 사용되는 Ni-Zn 페라이트를 제조하기 위해 Ni0.8Zn0.2Fe2O4를 기본조성으로 선택하고 x (Co mol 비)를 변화시켜 전자기적 특성을 조사하였다. $Bi_2O_3$ CaO가 첨가됨으로써 균일한 입자성장과 입계에 고저항층이 형성되어 주파수 손실이 감소하였으며, $Ni_{0.8-x}Zn_{0.2}Co_xFe_2O_{\delta}$의 기본조성에 Co의 함량을 증가시키면 x = 0.05에서 투자율 75, 공진주파수 20 MHz의 특성을 나타내고 결정 입자 크기와 같은 구조적 특성에는 영향을 거의 미치지 않지만 자기이방성 변화에 따라 전자기적 특성에는 영향을 미친다. 또한, $Ni_{0.75}Zn_{0.2}Co_{0.05}Fe_2O_{4.017}$ 조성의 페라이트 코어의 발열량은 큐리온도 이하에서 일어난다.

Metamaterial Absorber Composed of Multi-layered Sub-wavelength Unit Cell (다층구조 서브파장 단위 셀로 구성된 메타물질 흡수체)

  • In this paper, we propose a novel sub-wavelength unit cell metamaterial absorber using multi-layer structure. The proposed absorber consists of 4 layers, and each layer has a spiral resonator connected by a via hole. This structure increases inductance of the unit cell, and therefore the resonant frequency can shift to lower frequency. We optimized the proposed absorber, and the electrical size of the unit cell is dramatically reduced to 0.013 times of the wavelength. The performance of the proposed absorber is demonstrated with full-wave simulation and measurement results. An absorption rate exceeding 97% is achieved at 1.74GHz. In addition, the proposed absorber attains a high absorption rate of 90% for different polarization and incident angles.

Design of a Waveguide Band-Pass Filter Using a Modified H-type Resonant Iris (변형된 H-형 공진 아이리스를 이용한 도파관 대역통과 여파기 설계)

  • In this paper, we studied a design method for a band-pass waveguide filter with a modified H-type resonant iris (RI) placed in a thin transverse wall of a rectangular waveguide. The horizontal straight gap at the center of a conventional H-shaped iris is modified to a U-shaped one to increase the equivalent capacitance, and the equivalent inductance is improved by changing the vertical two straight slots into C-shaped ones. From some simulation results for the frequency response of the proposed RI, it was observed that the proposed iris was advantageous for reducing its size and having better cutoff, compared to typical H-shaped one. Equivalent inductance, capacitance, and quality factor of the proposed RI were extracted to analyze its performance. A third-order band pass filter using the proposed modified H-shaped iris was designed and, it was observed that the filter operated in the frequency range of 9.18-9.84 GHz with its insertion loss of 0.3 dB and return loss of 14 dB.

Design of PCB Embedded Balanced-to-unbalanced WiMax Duplexer Using Coupled LC Resonators (WiMAX 응용을 위한 결합 공진기 기반의 PCB 내장형 평형신호 듀플렉서의 설계)

  • In this paper, PCB embedded balanced-to-unbalamced duplexer using coupled LC resonator was introduced for low cost dualband WiMax front-end-module application. In order to obtain the function of bandpass filter and balun transformer, proposed duplexer was configured by using magnetically coupled LC resonator. Out-of-band suppression was enhanced by applying two m-Derived transform circuits to obtain transmission zeros at 2GHz and 4.8GHz. In order to reduce the size of embedded duplexer, BaSrTiO3 (BST) composite high Dk RCC film was applied to improve the capacitance density. This high Dk film provided the capacitance density of 12.2 pF/mm2. The simulation results shows that fabricated duplexer had an insertion loss of 2.9dB and 5.5dB and return loss of 15dB and 16dB for 2.5GHz~2.6GHz and 3.5GHz~3.6GHz, respectively. The maximum magnitude and phase imbalance were 0.01dB and 0.17dB, and 1degree and 2degree in its passband, respectively. The out-of-band suppression was observed approximately 29dB and 40dB below 1.9GHz and over 4.5GHz, respectively. It has a volume of 6 mm $\times$ 7 mm $\times$ 0.7 mm (height).

  • The battery system of an electric vehicle suffers from the problem the battery output and the service life decrease at low temperature. A Positive Temperature Coefficient(PTC) heater is used for maintaining room temperature but is heavy due to a complicated insulation structure. The larger the weight is, the lower the fuel economy of the electric vehicle is. On the other hand a induction heater have a simple insulation structure, which is effective in weight reduction and has a rapid temperature rise. The induction heater consists of an LC resonance circuit. The larger the capacitance is, the higher the price and weight is. Therefore, the inductance should be increased to reduce the capacitance. Also, the main heat source of the induction heater is coreloss. So, it is important to optimize inductance and coreloss in terms of electromagnetic field design. In this paper, the inductance and the coreloss according to the change of the induction heater structure were optimized through the Taguchi method and Finite Element Method(FEM) simulation.
