  • Maxwell displacement current (MDC) measurement has been employed to study the dielectric property of Langmuir-films. MDC flowing across monolayers is analyzed using a rod-like molecular model. A linear relationship between the monolayer compression speed and the molecular area Am. Compression speed was about 30, 40, 50mm/min. Langmuir-Blodgett(LB)layers of Arachidic acid deposited by LB method were deposited onto slide glass as Y-type film. The structure of manufactured device is Au/Arachidic acid/Al, the number of accumulated layers are 9~21. Also, we then examined of the Metal-Insulator-Metal(MIM) device by means of I-V. The I-V characteristics of the device are measured from -3 to +3[V]. The insulation property of a thin film is better as the distance between electrodes is larger.

  • Congestion may take place in the ATM network because of high-speed cell transmission features, and cell delay and loss also can be caused by unexpected traffic variation. Thus, traffic control mechanisms are needed. One of them to decrease congestion is the Cell shaping. This paper proposes a hybrid type cell shaper composed of a Leaky Bucket with token pool, Tn with time window, and a spacing control buffer. The simulator BONeS with the ON/OFF traffic source model evaluates the performance of the proposed cell shaping method. Simulation results show that the cell shaping concerning the respective source traffics is adapted to and then controlled on the mean bit rate.

  • The gating kinetics of an inward-rectifier K$\^$+/ channel, ROMK2 (Kir1.lb), were described by a model having one open state and two closed states. The long closed state was abolished by EDTA, suggesting that it was due to block by divalent cations. These closures exhibit a biphasic voltage-dependence, implying that the divalent blockers can permeate the channel.(omitted)

  • Recently, KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) has been developing a modern 11.5m diameter four bladed bearingless main rotor system, and this rotor system can be used for 7,000lb class helicopter. Flexbeam and torque tube can be considered as the key structural components, and large elastic twist of flexbeam induced by pitch control motion of torque tube can influence the nonlinear aeroelastic behavior. In this paper, the dynamic characteristic analysis results of bearingless rotor system were presented. In order to construct a input model and validate the analysis procedures, calculated results using the comprehensive helicopter analysis program CAMRAD II were compared with the measured natural frequencies and lag damping data from small-scale wind tunnel test. Next, the analysis model was extended to a full-scale model, and the dynamic analysis results were presented.

Predicting Potential Epidemics of Rice Leaf Blast Disease Using Climate Scenarios from the Best Global Climate Model Selected for Individual Agro-Climatic Zones in Korea (국내 농업기후지대 별 최적기후모형 선정을 통한 미래 벼 도열병 발생 위험도 예측)

  • Climate change will affect not only the crop productivity but also the pattern of rice disease epidemics in Korea. Impact assessments for the climate change are conducted using various climate change scenarios from many global climate models (GCM), such as a scenario from a best GCM or scenarios from multiple GCMs, or a combination of both. Here, we evaluated the feasibility of using a climate change scenario from the best GCM for the impact assessment on the potential epidemics of a rice leaf blast disease in Korea, in comparison to a multi?model ensemble (MME) scenario from multiple GCMs. For this, this study involves analyses of disease simulation using an epidemiological model, EPIRICE?LB, which was validated for Korean rice paddy fields. We then assessed likely changes in disease epidemics using the best GCM selected for individual agro?climatic zones and MME scenarios constructed by running 11 GCMs. As a result, the simulated incidence of leaf blast epidemics gradually decreased over the future periods both from the best GCM and MME. The results from this study emphasized that the best GCM selection approach resulted in comparable performance to the MME approach for the climate change impact assessment on rice leaf blast epidemic in Korea.

  • After we designed Bearingless rotor hub system for 7,000lb class helicopter, flexbeam fatigue analysis was conducted for validation of requirement life time 8,000 hours. sectional structural analysis method applying elastic beam model was used. Fatigue analysis for two sections of flexbeam which were expected to weak to fatigue damage from result of static analysis was conducted. Extension, bending and torsion stiffness of flexbeam section shape was calculated using VABS for structure analysis. S-N curve of two composite material which composed flexbeam was generated using wohler equation. Load analysis of bearingless rotor system was conducted using CAMRAD II and load analysis result was applied HELIX/FELIX standard load spectrum to generate bearingless rotor system load spectrum which was used flexbeam fatigue safe life analysis.

  • This study presents a Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) coupled with a momentum-exchange approach/fictitious domain (MEA/FD) method for the simulation of particle suspensions. The method combines the advantages of the LB and the FD methods by using two unrelated meshes, namely, a Eulerian mesh for the flow domain and a Lagrangian mesh for the solid domain. The rigid body conditions are enforced by the momentum-exchange scheme in which the desired value of velocity is imposed directly in the particle inner domain by introducing a pseudo body force to satisfy the constraint of rigid body motion, which is the key idea of a fictitious domain (FD) method. The LB-MEA/FD method has been validated by simulating two different cases, and the results have been compared with those through other methods. The numerical evidence illustrated the capability and robustness of the present method for simulating particle suspensions.

Analysis of Charge Transfer Mechanism in Molecular Memory Device using Temperature-dependent Electrical Measurement (온도에 의존하는 전기적 측정을 이용한 분자 메모리 소자의 전하 이동 메커니즘 분석)

  • A molecular memory device which has a structure of Al/$Al_2O_3$/ASA-15 LB monolayer/Ti/Al device, was fabricated. To study a charge transfer mechanism of molecular memory devices, current density-voltage (J-V) characteristics were measured at an increasing temperature range from 10 K to 300 K with an interval of 30 K. Strong temperature-dependent electrical property and tunneling through organic monolayer at low bias (below 0.5 V) were appeared. These experimental data were fitted by using a theoretical formula such as the Simmons model. In comparison between the theoretical and the experimental results, it was verified that the fitting results using the Simmons model about direct tunneling was fairly fitted below 0.5 V at both 300 K and 10 K. Hopping conduction was also dominant at all voltage range above 200 K due to charges trapped by defects located within the dielectric stack, including the $Al_2O_3$, organic monolayer and Ti interfaces.

Seismic Response Control of Mid-Story Isolation System for Planar Irregular Structures (평면 비정형 구조물에 적용된 중간층 면진 시스템의 지진 응답 제어 성능 분석)

  • In this study, the seismic response is investigated by using a relatively low-rise building under torsion-prone conditions and three seismic loads with change of the location of the seismic isolation system. LRB (Lead Rubber Bearing) was used for the seismic isolator applied to the analytical model. Fixed model without seismic isolation system was set as a basic model and LB models using seismic isolation system were compared. The maximum story drift ratio and the maximum torsional angle were evaluated by using the position of the seismic layer as a variable. It was confirmed that the isolation device is effective for torsional control of planar irregular structures. Also, it was shown that the applicability of the mid-story seismic isolation system. Numerical analyses results presented that an isolator installed in the lower layer provided good control performance for the maximum story drift ratio and the maximum torsional angle simultaneously.
