Ray Effect Analysis Using the Discrete Elements Method in X-Y Geometry (2차원 직각좌표계에서 DEM을 이용한 ray effect의 해석)

  • As one of the methods to ameliorate the ray effects which are the nature of anomalous computational effects due to the discretization of the angular variable in discrete ordinates approximations, a computational program, named TWODET (TWO dimensional Discrete Element Transport), has developed in 2 dimensional cartesian coordinates system using the discrete elements method, in which the discrete angle quadratures are steered by the spatially dependent angular fluxes. The results of the TWODET calculation with K-2, L-3 discrete angular quadratures, in the problem of a centrally located, isotropically emitting flat source in an absorbing square, are shown to be more accurate than that of the DOT 4.3 calculation with S-10 full symmetry angular quadratures, in remedy of the ray effect at the edge flux distributions of the square. But the computing time of the TWODET is about 4 times more than that of the DOT 4.3. In the problem of vacuum boundaries just outside of the source region in an absorbing square, the results of the TWODET calculation are shown severely anomalous ray effects, due to the sudden discontinuity between the source and the vacuum, like as the results of the DOT 4.3 calculation. In the probelm of an external source in an absorbing square in which a highly absorbing medium is added, the results of the TWODET calculation with K-3, L-4 show a good ones like as, somewhat more than, that of the DOT 4.3 calculation with S-10.

Antibacterial Effects of Silver Fluoride and Difluorosilane-based Varnish on Streptococcus mutans (불화은과 다이플루오르실란 함유 바니쉬의 Streptococcus mutans에 대한 항균 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the antibacterial effects of two liquid fluoride materials on Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans). Riva star aquaTM (SDI, Bayswater, Australia), which consists of silver fluoride (AgF, step 1) and potassium iodide (KI, step 2), and Fluor protector® (FP; Ivoclar Vivadent, Liechtenstein) were used for experimental groups. Experimental groups were divided into 4 groups : AgF, KI, AgF + KI and FP. For the positive control (PC) group, ampicillin was used, and the negative control group (NC) did not receive any additional treatment. Each group was divided into 30 and 50 µL groups by volume of liquid and applied to flat-coated S. mutans. The diameter of the zone of inhibition was measured. The PC and AgF groups showed larger diameters than other materials (p < 0.05), and the AgF group showed no significant difference from the PC group in the 50 µL group (p > 0.05). The FP group showed larger diameters than the AgF + KI group in the 30 µL (p = 0.009). The KI group did not show significant difference from the NC group (p > 0.05). AgF is comparable to ampicillin in antibacterial effects on S. mutans, and better than FP.

Small Broadband Phased Array Antenna with Compact Phase-Shift Circuits (간결한 위상 변위 회로를 갖는 소형 광대역 위상 배열 안테나)

  • In this paper, the planar, compact, and broadband phased array antenna system for IMT-2000 applications has been investigated. Two methods far designing a low-cost and low-complex beam-farming network are proposed. First, a new compact and broadband phase shifter with continuously controlled phase bits is designed by using parallel coupled lines. Second, its equivalent phase delay line is suggested to be capable of replacing the complex phase shifter with a reference phase bit on a phased array antenna. For the purpose of achieving the broadband system, in addition to the broadband phase shifter, a wide-slot antenna with a ground reflector is utilized as an element antenna. Therefore, the phased array antenna system has achieved compact size, broad bandwidth, and wide steering angle, although it has low complexity and low fabrication cost. The 3${\times}$1 phased array antenna system has a compact size of 1.6 λ${\times}$ l.6 λ, which is the sufficient ground plane of the wide-slot antenna. Experimental results present that the S$\_$11/ has less than 15 dB within the band and its radiation patterns on an E-plane have the capability of steering an antenna beam from -29$^{\circ}$to +30$^{\circ}$.

TCO 박막의 결정 구조 및 표면 특성에 따른 OLED 소자의 특성

  • OLED소자의 양극재료로써 현재는 산화인듐주석(ITO : indium tin oxide) 박막이 널리 이용되고 있다. 그러나 낮은 전기 비저항과 높은 투과도를 갖는 ITO 박막을 얻기 위해서는 $300^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온에서 성막되어야 하며, 원료 물질인 인듐의 수급량 부족으로 인한 문제점과 독성, 저온증착의 어려움, 스퍼터링 시 음이온 충격에 의한 막 손상으로 저항의 증가의 문제점이 있고, 또한 유기발광소자의 투명전극으로 쓰일 경우에 유기물과의 계면 부적합성, 액정디스플레이의 투명전극으로 사용될 경우에 $400^{\circ}C$정도의 놓은 온도와 수소 플라즈마 분위기에서 장시간 노출 시 열화로 인한 광학적 특성변화가 문제가 된다. 이러한 문제점을 지닌 ITO 박막을 대체할 수 있는 물질로 산화 인듐아연(lZO) 박막이 많은 각광을 받고 있다. IZO(Indium Zinc Oxide) 박막은 저온 ($100^{\circ}C$ 이상)에서 증착이 가능하고 추가적인 열처리 없이도 가시광 영역에서 90% 이상의 광 투과도와 ${\sim}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ 이하의 낳은 전기 비저항을 갖는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이러한 IZO박막은 성막 후 고온의 열처리 과정이 필요 없기 때문에 폴리카보네이트와 같은 유기물 기판을 사용하여 제작 가능한 유연한 평판형 표시 소자의 제작에도 적용될 수 있다. IZO(Indium Zinc Oxide) 박막은 상온 공정에서도 우수한 전기적, 광학적, 표면 특성을 나타낼 뿐만 아니라 양극재료로써 높은 일함수를 가지고 있어 고효율의 유기 발광 소자를 구현하는데 유리한 재료라 판단된다. 본 연구에서는 TCO 박막의 면 저항과 표면 거칠기가 OLED 소자의 성능에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. R.F Magnetron Sputtering을 이용하여 투명 전도막을 성막 형성 하였으며, 기판온도와 증착과정에서 주입되는 산소, 수소의 유랑 변화가 박막의 구조적, 전기적 특성에 어떠한 영향 미치는 것인가를 자세히 규명하였다 ITO 와 IZO박막은 챔버 내 다양한 가스 분위기(Ar, $Ar+O_2$ and $Ar+H_2$) 에서 R.F Magnetron Sputtering 방법으로 증착했다. TCO박막의 구조적인 이해를 돕기 위해서 X-ray diffraction 과 FESEM으로 분석했다. 광학적 투과도와 박막의 두께는 Ultraviolet Spectrophotometer(Varian, cary-500)와 Surface profile mersurement system으로 각각 측정하였다. 면저항, charge carrier농도, 그리고 TCO박막의 이동성과 길은 전기적특성은 Four-point probe와 Hall Effect Measurement(HMS-3000)로 각각 측정한다. TCO 박막의 표면 거칠기에 따른 OLED소자의 성능분석 측면에서는 TCO 박막의 표면 거칠기 조절을 위해 photo lithography 공정을 사용하여 TCO 박막을 에칭 하였다. 미세사이즈 패턴 마스크가 사용되고 에칭의 깊이는 에칭시간에 따라 조절한다. TCO박막의 표면 형태는 FESEM과 AFM으로 관찰하고 그리고 나서 유기메탈과 음극 전극을 연속적으로 TCO 박막위에 증착한다. 투명전극으로 사용되는 IZO기판 상용화를 위해 IZO기판 위에 $\alpha$-NPB, Alq3, LiF, Al순서로 OLED소자를 제작하였다. 전류밀도와 전압 그리고 발광과 OLED소자의 전압과 같은 전기적 특성은 Spectrometer (minolta CS-1000A) 에 의하여 I-V-L분석을 했다.

A study on the application of dichroic mirror for the improvement of luminance and luminous efficacy in an AC Plasma Display Panel (AC-PDP의 휘도와 효율 향상을 위한 Dichroic Mirror의 응용에 관한 연구)

  • A new application of dirchroic mirror for the improvement of luminance and luminous efficacy in an AC-Plasma Display Panel (PDP) is suggested. Only about half of the Vacuum Ultraviolet (VUV) generated in the reflective PDP cell is used for the excitation of the phosphor. We are suggesting an idea of adopting a dichroic mirror which can reflect the VUV toward the phosphor which otherwise is absorbed by the front panel. The optical constants of the thin films of dirhroic mirror were determined from the photometric measurements through an iteration process of matching calculated and measured values of the reflectance and transmittance in the VUV wavelength region. From these results, we could design such a filter whose high reflection zone is centered at 147nm by a computer simulation accurately. The 147nm VUV is radiated from Xenon 3Pl state which is dominantly used to activate the phosphor in the PDP cell. The dichroic mirror was made with an electronbeam evaporator and its reflectance was measured by a reflectometer. We confirmed the usefulness of the dichroic mirror for the improvement of efficiency with experiments done by test panels. The panel with mirror shows improved luminance and luminous efficacy by 20∼30%.

  • Mercury Iodide as good sensitivity at radiation and has an easy peculiarity that operates at low voltage for other photoconductors(a-Se, a-Si, Ge, etc) Based on this characteristic, we studied about an efficiency of the digital x-ray detector in acccordance with the thickness of photoconductor. To solve the problem that is difficult to make a large area film using PVD(Physical Vapor Deposition)method, we used a PIB(Particle In Binder)method. To make a binder paste, we used a PVB(Polyvinylbutyral) as a binder and a DGME(Diethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether), DGMEA(Diethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether Acetate) as a solvent. Using this binder paste, we made a polycrystal mercury iodide film that has an each thickness. To evaluate the electrical properties of this films, we measured a darkcurrent, sensitivity and SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio). Mercury iodide film of the 200um thickness has good electrical properties as a result of the measurement. From this result there is a good chance that replace the existing a-Se(Amnorphous seleinum; a-se) with the mercury iodide.

Constitutive Expression of Arylsulfatase from Pseudoalteromonas carageenovora in E. coli and Its Application to Preparation of Agarose (E. coli에서 Pseudoalteromonas carageenovora 유래 Arylsulfatase의 구성적 발현과 Agarose 제조에의 응용)

  • The arylsulfatase gene (astA, 984 bp ORF) from Pseudoalteromonas carrageenovora genome was amplified by PCR and subcloned into the pHCE-IA vector, in which the hyper consitutive expression (HCE) promoter from the D-amino acid aminotransferase (D-AAT) gene of Geobacillus toevii was employed. The transformant cell, Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3)/pHCE-AST, on LB agar plate containig 4-methylumbelliferyl sulfate, showed an intense fluorescence at 360 nm, indicating that 4-methylumbelliferone was liberated by desulfatate activity. When BL21 (DE3)/pHCE-AST was grown on LB media containing 0.4% glucose or 0.4% glycerol, the arylsulfatase activity was higher at glycerol rather than at glucose. On 2% glycerol medium, the arylsulfatase activity reached 15.0 unit/ml, which was 2.6-fold higher expression level than that with 1% glycerol. The DNA ladder in agarose prepared from agar by this recombinant enzyme revealed similar resolution and migration patterns with a commercial agarose. This results suggests that arylsulfatase overexpressed in E. coli could be applicable to the economic production of electrophoretic-grade agarose.

The Consideration of Bolus Effects of Games Attached on Lesion area (환부 부착용 거즈의 Bolus Effect에 관할 고찰)

  • The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of skin dose and PDD by using wounds protecting gauzes or Vaselinespread gauzes. And it was studied that the possibility to substitute custom bolus into gauzes. 4MV photon (CL600C, varian, US), Polystyrene Phantom (30(W) X30(L) X 30(H)) with Markus chamber(PTW, US) were used for dose measurement. This study was distinguished natural gauzes and spread over Vaseline gauzes. We gave variety to the gauze thickness at 5, 10 and 15 sheets respectively. For comparison between using bolus and not that, we had used 1.0 cm thickness bolus so that analyzed surface dose and PDD at the same conditions above mentioned. When maximum point was defined as reference point, surface dose was measured as $35\%$ in open beam. When the gauzes were attached to surface as 5, 10 and 15 sheets, surface dose were increased as 69, 80 and $91\%$ respectively according to thickness of gauzes. When spread over Vaseline gauzes were attached to surface as 5, 10 and 15 sheets, surface dose were increased respectively as 98, 100 and $98\%$ according to thickness of gauzes. Also when 0.5 cm bolus and 5 sheets gauzes were composed, surface dose was measured as $98\%$. The gauzes that were attached to skin surface in radiation therapy had been scattering material and contributed increasing surface dose without variation of percentage depth dose. However, if we want to delivery much dose to skin surface then we have to apply many sheets of gauzes to skin surface. Although we get easy that result by bolus or spread over Vaseline gauzes, we have to revise percentage depth dose at calculation. Therefore, if we find pertinent conditions based on measured data that are considered skin dose and patient setup efficiency, to replace custom bolus with gauzes will be helpful to efficient treatment.

Physical Characteristics Comparison of Virtual Wedge Device with Physical Wedge (가상쐐기와 기존쐐기의 물리적 특성 비교)

  • Purpose : We have compared the characteristics of Siemens virtual wedge device with physical wedges for clinical application. Materials and Methods : We investigated the characteristics of virtual and physical wedges for various wedge angles (15, 30, 45, and 60$^{\circ}$) using 6- and 15MV photon beams. Wedge factors were measured in water using an ion chamber for various field sizes and depths. In case of virtual wedge device, as upper jaw moves during irradiation, wedge angles were estimated by accumulated doses. These measurements were performed at off-axis points perpendicular to the beam central axis in water for a 15cm${\times}$20cm radiation field size at the depth of loom. Surface doses without and with virtual or physical wedges were measured using a parallel plate ion chamber at surface. Field size was 15cm H20cm and a polystyrene phantom was used. Results : For various field sizes, virtual and physical wedge factors were changed by maximum 2.1% and 3.9%) , respectively. For various depths, virtual and physical wedge factors were changed by maximum 1.9% and 2.9%, respectively. No major difference was found between the virtual and physical wedge angles and the difference was within 0.5$^{\circ}$ . Suface dose with physical wedge was reduced by maximum 20% (x-ray beam :6 MV, wedge angle:45$^{\circ}$, 550: 80 cm) relative to one with virtual wedge or without wedge. Conclusions : Comparison of the characteristics of Siemens virtual wedge device with physical wedges was performed. Depth dependence of virtual wedge factor was smaller than that of physical wedge factor. Virtual and physical wedge factors were nearly independent of field sizes. The accuracy of virtual and physical wedge angles was excellent. Surface dose was found to be reduced using physical wedge.

Heating Efficiency of Difference Heat Collection Methods for Greenhouse (유리온실의 태양열 집열방법별 집열효과)

  • Three methods for heat collection, which were the flat solar collector, two fan with radiator, and square pipe method, were studied to sue efficiently solar energy in the three different glasshouses for two years. The flat plate solar collector method was made use of the commercial solar collector with collection area of 24$m^2$, the method of two fans with radiators collected solar energy at the top of the glasshouse. An thermal storage tank was constructed underneath in teach glasshouses. When an area of 1,000$m^2$ was heated to the minimum temperature of 9$^{\circ}C$, the decrease rate of heating fuel for the flat plate solar collector, the fan attached radiator and the square pipe methods were 7%, 19% and 28% respectively. The flat plate solar collector method, which could be heated approximately 40-50$m^2$, was currently used by most of the farmer. Under the condition, the decrease rate of annual heating fuel was 14% which was not better for an economic annual heating fuel. If the fan with radiator method was operated, the use of installation and maintenance were required. So, it could not be good economic efficiency of solar heating. The heating efficiency of the square pipe method was relatively better thant those of the flat plate solar collector or the fan attached radiator. Since the cost of materials and its installation of the use of square pipe method was lower than any other method. However, corrosion of the pipe, greater shade in the greenhouse and strength against the square pipe were problems that should be overcome in the square pipe method.
