  • In Nepal, unemployment and underemployment rate is very high among the youth between 15-24 ages. Generally people tend to discourage acquisition of skills for a career. Access to skill training is limited, especially for the poor, women, and disadvantaged, and the quality of skills training is variable and often not linked to market needs. Strengthening the technical education and vocational training (TEVT) sector to deliver more relevant and market oriented training is essential. To improve the country's pool of technical skilled manpower and unemployment problem, the government has attempted various programs in the last two decades to institutionalize technical education and vocational training. These had initially mixed results mainly due to poor organization and management of the TEVT sector, lack of proper linkage between the training programs and the needs of the labor market, lack of proper equipment and instructional materials and inadequately trained instructors. Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) as a leading organization in TEVT sector of Nepal should focus on community-based vocational trainings for the purpose of reducing poverty in grassroots level addressing excluded and marginalized groups. It is a big challenge as well as opportunity for CTEVT and TEVT professionals.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the association between family members and adolescent boys smoking. The data were evaluated by frequency analysis, 𝑥2 test and logistic regression analysis using 27,276 people who responded to the 14th(2018) Korean Youth Risk Behavior Survey. Among male students, the nonsmoking rate was 91.5% and the smoking rate was 8.5%(2.5% of occasional smoking and 6.0% of frequent smoking). The study results showed that the smoking status of male students was varied significantly according to the number of smokers among the family members(p<0.001). Meanwhile, smoking based on the characteristics of socio-demographic factors was affected by grades, school records, economic status, and parents' educational background(p<0.001). Smoking by health factors showed a significant difference in alcohol consumption, suicidal thoughts, depression experiences, stress recognition, frequency of breakfast consumption, level of fatigue after sleep, and subjective perception of health(p<0.001). Male smokers were more likely to smoke when two family members smoked than only one(p<0.001). These results confirmed that smoking in boys was affected by the smoking status of family members and suggested that the smoking cessation program of family smokers can be effective in designing smoking cessation prevention and smoking cessation projects.

The results of the study are as follows: The traditional elements which affect contemporary Japanese lives include modern devices such as use of anonymous "blogging", mobile phones "youth culture"(especially by males), and "cute" character vocabulary use (especially by females), while traditional values(yakuza, sumo, human relationships) are represented in Japanese cinema. Through this study, we have found the points where traditional Japanese culture and cultural sense have been reinterpreted and affected both directly and indirectly through modern media. This study contributes to cultural research by delineating the various stimuli to consider for successful content service adoption in a global setting, which can account for differential impacts across regions. The results not only help develop a sophisticated understanding of customer behavior theories for researchers, but they also offer useful knowledge to those involved in promoting culture content to potential purchasers.
