A Model for a State-Dependent Deteriorating System

  • A model for a system whose deteriorating rate depends on the state is introduced. A repairman arrives according to Poisson process and increases the state of the system by the random amount if the state is below a threshold. If the system fails at arrival of the repairman it is assumed that the system is replaced by new one. The stationary distribution function of the state of the system and the expected life length of the system are deduced.

  • The notion of intuitionistic fuzzy finite switchboard state machines and (strong) homomorphisms of intuitionistic fuzzy finite state machines are introduced, and related properties are investigated. After we give a congruence relation on the set of all words of elements of X of finite length, the quotient structure is discussed. We show that the family of equivalence classes is a finite semigroup with identity.

  • Availability is an important characteristic of a repairable component. Iyer(1992) obtained the 'limiting efficiency'(not the `steady state availability') of the age-dependent minimal repair model which was first considered by Block et al.(1985). However the existence of the steady state availability of the model has not been reported. In this note, the existence of the steady state availability of the model is shown and a brief remark on the importance of the property is given.

  • The effects of the errors due to incorrect a priori informations on the noise model as well as the system model in the continuous state model based optimal FIR filter is considered. When the optimal filter is perturbed, the error covariance is derived. From this equation, the performance of the state model based optimal FIR filter is analyzed for the given modeling error. Also the state model based optimal FIR filter is compared to the standard Kalman filter by an example.

한국 호소 상층부의 영양상태지수 제안 (Suggestion for Trophic State Index of Korean Lakes (Upper Layer))

  • In this study, the relationship between trophic state indices was analyzed based on the monthly or weekly water quality data of 81 lakes (mostly man-made) in Korea between 2013-2017. Carlson's $TSI_C$ and Aizaki's $TSI_m$ were calculated using the summer (Jun.-Sep.) average data at the upper water layer. The previous Korean trophic state index ($TSI_{KO}$) and the newly suggested index ($TSI_{KON}$) was calculated using the annual average data at the whole layer and at the upper layer, respectively. While previous trophic state index (TSI) such as Carlson's TSI included logarithmic function, we devised newly Monod-type $TSI_{KON}$(Chl) that is 50 when half-saturation concentration of chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ ($Chl.{\alpha}$) measured by UNESCO-method is $10{\mu}gL^{-1}$. MMF-type $TSI_{KON}$(TP) was derived based on the relationship between TP and $Chl.{\alpha}$. A comprehensive $TSI_{KON}$ was decided as the larger one of the two $TSI_{KON}$ values. The range of previous TSI was usually 40-50 for the mesotrophic state, which seemed narrow to discriminate trophic characteristics of the class. The upper limits of $TSI_{KON}$ for oligotrophic, mesotrophic, and eutrophic state were set to 23, 50 and 75, respectively. Classification by $TSI_C$ and $TSI_m$ showed higher frequency of eutrophic class compared to $TSI_{KO}$ and $TSI_{KON}$. This means that the estimation by TSIs developed in foreign natural lakes can lead to distorted results in the classification of the trophic state of Korean lakes. This is due to the decrease of transparency by non-algal material and the reduction in phosphorus availability to algal growth, particularly in Monsoon period.

한국의 정교분리와 종교정책 (The Separation of Church and State and Religious Policy in Modern Korea)

  • 현대 국가의 목표가 개인의 기본 인권보장과 국가 공동체의 공공선 실현에 초점을 두고 있다고 한다면, 국가의 종교정책 방향도 그것에서 크게 벗어날 수 없을 것이다. 그러면서도 현대 국가의 종교정책은 대부분 정교분리 원칙을 기본으로 삼고 있다. 종교와 세속을 구분하고 양자의 관계를 정립함으로써 종교의 자유보장과 정교분리를 실현하고자 하는 것이다. 본 연구는 근대 국민국가의 중요한 제도적 장치인 정교분리 원칙을 집중적으로 조명하고, 이것을 통해 보다 적극적인 종교정책의 가능성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 종교와 국가 그리고 정치 관계를 구조적이고 기능적인 입장에서 검토해 본 후 정교분리 원칙이 어떻게 근대 정치원리로서 자리 잡게 되었는지 그리고 각국의 정교분리 정착과정과 그 실제가 어떤지 먼저 정리해 보았다. 그런 다음 그것을 토대로 하여 한국의 정교분리 실제와 구조적 한계 그리고 그에 따른 종교 정책의 방향을 점검해 본 것이다. 한국사회에서는 정교분리 원칙에 대한 적용 경험이 일천하고 또 그것에 대한 교조적(敎條的) 인식 때문에 종교문제라면, 무조건 회피하거나 아니면 회피하지는 않는다하더라도 소극적으로 대처하는 경향이 있다. 그러나 종교문화는 한국사회에서 최대 문화자원이자 사회적 자산이며, 국가발전의 동력으로서도 많은 잠재력을 가지고 있기 때문에 종교를 그냥 내버려두기에는 아쉬운 점이 많다. 따라서 국가의 종교정책들을 제한하고 있는 정교분리 원칙의 원천적 한계들을 살펴보고, 그 한계들을 극복함으로써 종교문화의 자원을 국가발전의 동력으로 활용할 수 있는 이론적인 기반을 탐색해 보고자 하였다. 국가마다 정교분리 원칙이 얼마나 다르게 적용되고 있는가에 주목하여 한국적인 상황을 검토하였다, 한국에서의 종교정책의 근간이 되는 정교분리는 일본과 유사한 '유사분리형'에 속하고 있어서 교조적으로 해석되든가 아니면 자의적으로 해석되는 경향이 많다. 이글은 이런 파행적인 형태를 극복하고, 한국사회에 맞는 정교분리를 사회문화적 관행으로 조속히 정착시킬 필요가 있으며, 나아가 정교분리의 폭넓은 해석을 통해 적극적인 종교정책이 시행될 필요가 있다는 것을 밝히고 있다.

  • The need for developing sustainable solutions for managing the animal waste is vital for the future of the animal industry in North Carolina. As part of that process, the North Carolina Attorney General has concluded that the public interest will be served by the development and implementation of environmentally superior swine waste management technologies appropriate to each category of hog farms. To facilitate in the development, testing, and evaluation of potential technologies it is necessary that all aspects of environmental issues (air, water, soil, odor and odorants, and disease-transmitting vectors and airborne pathogens) be addressed as Part of a comprehensive strategy, Program OPEN (Odor, Pathogens, and Emissions of Nitrogen) Is comprehensively addressing these issues.

고주파에서 높은 신호 격리도를 갖는 접촉식 RF MEMS 스위치의 설계 (Design of Ohmic Contact RF MEMS Silicon Switch with High Isolation at High Frequencies)

  • This paper presents the design and simulation results of ohmic contact RF MEMS silicon switch with a high isolation at high frequencies along with the position of a contact part, initial off-state and intermediate off-state including the state where a contact part is placed right over a signal line of coplanar waveguide (CPW). The ohmic contact part is connected with comb drives made of high resistivity single crystalline silicon. The released contact part is $30{\mu}m$ apart from the edge of signal line on the glass substrate along the lateral direction (x-direction) at initial off-state. The electrostatic force of the comb electrode creates the x-directional movement thus initial state is converted to the intermediate off-state. The initial off-state of the switch results in isolations of -31 dB, -24 dB and reflections of -0.45 dB, -0.67 dB at 50 GHz and 110 GHz, respectively. It shows the isolation degradation when the contact part moves right over the signal line of CPW like an initial off-state of a conventional MEMS switch. The isolations and reflections are -31 dB, -24 dB and -0.50 dB, -1.31 dB at 50 GHz and 110 GHz, respectively at the intermediate off-state.
