  • The method of vocal tract normalization has been known as a successful method for improving the accuracy of speech recognition. A frequency warping procedure based low complexity and maximum likelihood has been generally applied for vocal tract normalization. In this paper, we propose a new power spectrum warping procedure that can be improve on vocal tract normalization performance than a frequency warping procedure. A mechanism for implementing this method can be simply achieved by modifying the power spectrum of filter bank in Mel-frequency cepstrum feature(MFCC) analysis. Experimental study compared our Proposal method with the well-known frequency warping method. The results have shown that the power spectrum warping is better 50% about the recognition performance than the frequency warping.

  • Purpose: To propose improved method for normalization, compare to the de facto international standard which is IESNA TM-21 or conventional normalization methods. Methods: Firstly, we analysed conventional methods and specified the problem of normalization method which is based on first measured data. Secondly, we proposed our approach which is based on the design specification. Lastly, we studied a real degradation data which is conducted for 15,000 hours. Conclusion: Proposed normalization method is better approach because it can reflect real data and design specification, and reduce distortion when analysing degradation data. Also, It is appliable to other long-life reliability items.

  • In this paper, a novel codebook generation strategy is proposed. With the given codebooks, two codeword selection procedures are proposed and analyzed for generating the quantized multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel state information (CSI). Furthermore, three different quantization and normalization strategies are analyzed. The simulation results suggest that the proposed 'quantized channel generation method 2' is the best strategy to reduce the quantization and normalization errors to generate the final quantized MIMO CSI.

  • In order to obtain consistent change detection result for multi-temporal satellite images, preprocessing must be performed. In particular, the preprocessing related to the spectral values can be performed by the radiometric normalization, and relative radiometric normalization is generally utilized. However, most relative radiometric normalization methods assume a linear relationship between the two images, and nonlinear spectral characteristics such as phenological differences are not considered. Therefore, this study proposes a relative radiometric normalization which assumes nonlinear relationships that can perform compositive normalization of radiometric and phenological characteristics. The proposed method selects the subject and reference images, and then extracts the radiometric control set samples through the no-change method. In addition, spectral indexes as well as pixel values are extracted in order to consider sufficient information, and modeling of nonlinear relationships is performed through multilayer perceptron. Finally, the proposed method is compared with the conventional relative radiometric normalization methods, which shows that the proposed method is visually and quantitatively superior.

  • Edit distance metrics are widely used for many applications such as string comparison and spelling error corrections. Hamming distance is a metric for two equal length strings and Damerau-Levenshtein distance is a well-known metrics for making spelling corrections through string-to-string comparison. Previous distance metrics seems to be appropriate for alphabetic languages like English and European languages. However, the conventional edit distance criterion is not the best method for agglutinative languages like Korean. The reason is that two or more letter units make a Korean character, which is called as a syllable. This mechanism of syllable-based word construction in the Korean language causes an edit distance calculation to be inefficient. As such, we have explored a new edit distance method by using consonant normalization and the normalization factor.

  • In the m, syntactically different URLs could represent the same resource. The URL normalization is a process that transform a URL, syntactically different and represent the same resource, into canonical form. There are on-going efforts to define standard URL normalization. The standard URL normalization designed to minimize false negative while strictly avoiding false positive. This paper considers the four URL normalization issues beyond ones specified in the standard URL normalization. The idea behind our work is that in the URL normalization we want to minimize false negatives further while allowing false positives in a limited level. Two metrics are defined to analyze the effect of each step in the URL normalization. Over 170 million URLs that were collected in the real web pages, we did an experiment, and interesting statistical results are reported in this paper.

  • In this paper, we consider hierarchical modulation (HM), which has been widely exploited in digital broadcasting systems. In HM, each independent data stream is mapped to the modulation symbol with different transmission power and normalization factors of conventional M-QAM cannot be used. In this paper, we derive the method and formula for exact normalization factor of three-level hierarchical 64QAM.

  • Radiometric normalization with multi-temporal satellite images is essential for time series analysis and change detection. Generally, relative radiometric normalization, which is an image-based method, is performed, and histogram matching is a representative method for normalizing the non-linear properties. However, since it utilizes global statistical information only, local information is not considered at all. Thus, this paper proposes a histogram matching method considering local information. The proposed method divides histograms based on density, mean, and standard deviation of image intensities, and performs histogram matching locally on the sub-histogram. The matched histogram is then further partitioned and this process is performed again, iteratively, controlled with the wasserstein distance. Finally, the proposed method is compared to global histogram matching. The experimental results show that the proposed method is visually and quantitatively superior to the conventional method, which indicates the applicability of the proposed method to the radiometric normalization of multi-temporal images with non-linear properties.

  • Purpose In this study, we evaluated image by applying normalization factor during 30 days to the PET images. Materials and Methods Normalization factor was acquired during 30 days. We compared with 30 normalization factors. We selected 3 clinical case (PNS study). We applied for normalization factor to PET raw data and evaluated SUV and count (kBq/ml) by drawing ROI to liver and lesion. Results There is no significant difference normalization factor. SUV and count are not different for PET image according to normalization factor. Conclusion We can get a lot of information doing the quality assurance such as performance of sinogram and detector. That's why we need to do quality assurance daily.
