Objectives : The present study examines the domestic trend of Chuna treatments on lumbar spinal disorder in Korea. Methods : We investigated the studies on Chuna treatments for lumbar spinal disorder via searching 10 Korean web databases. As a result, 63 research papers were found to be analyzed according to their published year, the titles of journals, the types of study, the techniques of Chuna, the instruments for assessment, the Chuna technique and the number of the treatment trials by the cases of lumbar spinal disorder and ethical approvals. Results : The number of the research papers published tends to increase every year. The studies on Chuna treatments were mainly published in The Journal of Korea CHUNA Manual Medicine for Spine & Nerves. The most frequently adopted technique of Chuna in the examined studies was Cox flexion & distraction technique. Visual analogue scale(VAS), oswestry disability questionnaire(ODI) were used as primary means of assessments. The ethical problems of the examined studies needed to be improved. Conclusion : Reviewing the domestic trend of studies on Chuna treatments for lumbar spinal disorder and examining the strong and weak points of those treatments are essential for the future studies. It is anticipated that this review benefits the future in-depth study on the treatments for Chuna in Korean medicine.

A survey was practiced to the medical doctors of Je-Han Medical Center and Taegu Catholic Medical Center from November to December 2004. The collected data was analysed by the SPSS10+. The analysis of frequency, cross table, the difference of mean was practiced. The focus of the analysis was to find the difference of attitudes between Korean Oriental medical doctors and Western medical doctors. The results of the analysis showed that Korean Oriental medical doctors are more active to the cooperated medical treatments than Western medical doctors. They also have more experience. And both of Korean Oriental medical doctors and Western medical doctors agree to the necessity of the cooperated medical treatments. But the preferred combination pattern of Korean Oriental medicine and Western medicine was different between two medical groups. Korean Oriental medical doctors prefer the one to one combination pattern. But Western medical doctors prefer to Western medicine centered combination pattern. This study has limitations in sampling prcesss and sample size. But considering that the study of the cooperated medical treatments is few, this study has considerable medical sociological meaning.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to report effectiveness of oriental medical treatments to symptoms and quality of life in the patients with herniated lumbar disc being suggested operation. Methods : Eighteen patients diagnosed with herniated lumbar disc by MRI in hospital were treated by oriental medical treatments. Symptoms of the patients were assessed by visual analogue scale(VAS) and SF-36. Results : After the treatments, the VAS of symptoms of herniated lumbar disc and the score of role-physical scale in SF-36 were improved but the other scores of scales were not significantly different. Conclusions : It could be suggested that oriental medical treatments were effective for the patients with herniated lumbar disc being suggested operation. Further study of the effect of oriental medical treatments on herniated lumbar disc is needed.

Objectives : Lateral epicondylitis on elbow is one of the most common causes of elbow pain. Lateral epicondylitis can be managed with acupuncture, but the evidence for its effectiveness is uncertain. The purpose of this review is to investigate the trends of acupuncture treatments on lateral epicondylitis. Methods : We investigated the studies about acupuncture treatments for lateral epicondylitis via searching 5 Korean web databases(KTKP, RISS, OASIS, KCI, Kisti) The key search terms were 'Lateral epicondylitis', 'Tennis elbow', 'External epicondylitis'. 12 research papers(10 case reports, 1 RCT, 1NRCT) were found to be analyzed according to their published year, the titles of journals, published institution, the types of study, the number of cases, the types of treatments, the instruments for assessment and ethical approvals. The effectiveness of acupuncture treatment was classified. Results : 12 papers were published since 2003. The studies on acupuncture treatments about lateral epicondylitis were mainly published in The journal of pharmacopuncture. 10 case reports, 1 non-randomized controlled trials, 1 randomized controlled trials had been under research. In most of the research, the number of the cases were not enough. In 9 cases of the studies, various korean medicine treatments including acupuncture were used to treat the symptoms. In 3 cases of the studies single method was used to treat the symptoms. Visual analogue scale(VAS) and range of motion(ROM), grip strength were used as primary assessments. Among 12 clinical studies, 1 of them were accepted by institutional review board(IRB). Conclusions : In this study, we analyzed the trends of acupuncture treatments on lateral epicondylitis. Reviewing the domestic trends of studies on acupuncture treatments for lateral epicondylitis and examining the strong and weak points of those treatments are essential for the future studies.

Objective: To report a case of a patient with a psychosomatic disorder who complained of hyperventilation and was treated with oriental medical treatments and emotional freedom techniques (EFTs). Methods: The patient was diagnosed as having a psychosomatic disorder through an interview and several psychological tests, such as the house-tree-person (HTP) and the person in the rain (PITR) tests. We treated the patient with oriental medical treatments that included herbal medications, western medications, moxibustion, cupping, and EFT. Results: After the treatments, the clinical symptoms of the patient were improved. Conclusions: Oriental medical treatments and EFT may be effective treatments for psychosomatic disorders.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to show the clinical effect of Korean Medical Treatments for Tinnitus with Sudden Sensory Neural Hearing Loss. Methods : The patient was treated by Korean Medical Treatments for 10weeks. The effect of treatments on tinnitus was measured with Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Korean Tinnitus Handicap Inventory(K-THI). And the effect of treatments on sudden hearing loss was measured by VAS. Results : VAS of Tinnitus was decreased from 10 to 3 points and K-THI score was decreased from 70 to 26 points. VAS of hearing loss was decreased from 9 to 8 points. Conclusions : Korean Medical Treatments are effective on Tinnitus.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the latest trend of studies on treatments of postoperative rotator cuff tear patients which are published in Korea. Methods : We investigated the studies on the treatments of postoperative rotator cuff tear patients via searching 6(six) Korean web databases(NSDL, RISS, Korean traditional knowledge portal, OASIS, KISTI, KCI). As a result, 16(sixteen) studies were found. We classified the papers by publication date, published journal, method of study, type of treatment, evaluation scale and referencing research ethics. Results : 16(sixteen) papers were published from 2006 to 2017. The papers were published in The journal of Korean shoulder & elbow society, The journal of korean acupuncture & moxibustion medicine, etc. 5(five) randomized controlled trials, 5(five) non-randomized controlled trials, 4(four) case reports and 2(two) Retrospective report have been found. For types of treatment, 6(six) exercise therapies, 3(three) Korean medicine treatments and 7(seven) other treatments have been found. Main evaluation tools were VAS, ROM, NRS and Muscle strength. Conclusions : In this study, we analyzed the latest trend of studies on treatments of postoperative rotator cuff tear patients. Reviewing the international trends of studies on treatments for postoperative rotator cuff tear are essential for the future studies.

1) Objective External treatments have various curative effects. So it had been used to cure various patients. But, it has a limited sphere of application in the present South Korea. And treatments of wander doctors had been disregarded by general doctors and the public. But Zhao-Xue-Min(趙學敏) had thought that there are useful treatments in it. So, the "Chuan-Ya(串雅)" had been written by Zhao-Xue-min in 1759. The book had included treatments of wander doctors. Especially, it had included various external treatments. Therefore we would like to bring out it's external treatments theory 2) Conclusions We have researched external treatments of "Chuan-Ya", and then we have arrived at following conclusions. "Chuan-Ya" has 48 sentences that have related to external treatments in internal medicine. And it had recorded fire conducting method(引火法) to explain process of external teratment principle.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental medical treatments on the patients with delirium. Methods : Four patients diagnosed with delirium by DSM-$IV^{TM}$ was treated Onbaek-won(Wenbai-yuan), Jugeo-hwan(Zhouju-wan) and herb medicine. The severity of delirium was assessed by using MMSE-K. And then, we investigated and analyzed the clinical symptoms of the patients. Results : After oriental medical treatments, the symptoms of delirium were disappeared and MMSE-K score was improved. Conclusions : It could be suggested that oriental medical treatments were effective on delirium. Further study of the effect of oriental medical treatments on delirium is needed in the near future.

The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of Korean medicine treatments on pain reduction of thoracolumbar compression fracture patients. We analysed 48 patients who have been diagnosed as thoracolumbar compression fracture on Computed Tomography(CT) or Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) scan and had admitted to Dunsan Korean Medical hospital from January 1,2014 to April 4, 2017. The analysis was conducted as retrospective study which analyzes patient's medical records. Statistical analysis was performed using the IBM SPSS statistics 24 program. We used Visual Analog Scale(VAS) and pain reduction scale to evaluate pain reduction of patients. The result showed that there were statistically significant pain reduction on thoracolumbar compression fracture patients treated with korean medicine treatments. In conclusion, we found that the korean medicine treatments showed positive effect on pain reduction of thoracolumbar compression fracture patients.
