The purpose of this study is to investigate the teaching methods a n.0, pplied to the basic reference education. Especially, the independent study method in reference education-PSI, AT and PI method used in 1970s at the library schools in the United States was examined in detail. The conclusions and suggestions drawn from this study are as follows : 1) The studies concerned with the teaching method in library and information science education in Korea is very scarce. Studies in this area are needed. 2) In order to improve and innovate the teaching method, instructor' knowledge and understanding of the various teaching methods are essential. The library and information science instructors' efforts should be made in this respect. 3) Instructional materials developed through the research activities concerned with teaching method should be shared among the instructors of the reference education and the device for such sharing should be made.

The school library media specialist is the information manager of school library as well as the teacher who take charge of a study. The basic knowledge of copyright law is needed to supply lawful and safe information service to students and teaching staffs in school. In order for the school library media specialist to have a copyright knowledge, the actual proof research to analyze the copyright recognition degree of school library media specialist is necessary, The survey study measured the recognition degree against copyright of school library media specialists who participate to 2006 school library media specialist 1 class qualification annual study and training process. The purpose of this paper Is to present a long-term development plan for the KRILI(Korea Research Institute for Library and Information). To do so, authors analysed a various library research institutes and related organizations in U.S.A., U.K., Czech Republic, Hungary, and Japan. And using the SWOT analysis, author identified and described the current status and also surveyed recognition of library and information science faculties as to desirable roles and phase of the KRILI. Based on the results of analysis and survey, this paper suggested a long-term plan(vision and objectives, strategic issues, desirable phase and organization system, growth and development model, Internal cooperative operating systems and external research cooperation system, etc.) of the KRILI.

There have been several milestones in the history of library classification but most of the schemes failed to meet the new challenges in the organisation of information. Dr. S. R. Ranganathan tried to revolutionise the whole thinking on classificatory approach, when he devised the Colon Classification (CC) in 1933. He developed the Colon Classification scheme with a sound theoretical background based on normative principles, Five laws of Library science, canons, etc. One important feature of CC is that, its use is not confined to information storage and retrieval alone. This paper presents an over view of different editions of the CC highlighting the salient features of the editions. Further the implication of Five Laws of Library Science has been described. The authors stressed that the features of such as greater hospitality, specificity and mixed notation has paved the way to design and develop the depth schedules on various micro level subjects and so far about 130 micro schedules have been published. The impressions by the leading LIS professionals during and after Ranganathan's time have been highlighted. The authors expressed the fear that when the library world would see the complete version of the seventh edition of CC? It may be due to lack of institutional support engaging in the research or financial constraints. The authors are of the opinion that any scheme to flourish needs a sound research body to bring out the revised editions as done in the case of Dewey Decimal Classification. The relevance of the CC in the contemporary world of Librarianship is discussed. Finally concludes that CC needs to be resuscitated as it is a precious national heritage; and still a force for the management of libraries.

This study was investigated and analyze the library anxiety of public library users utilize LAS. The main contents of this study contained the differences of library anxiety in sex, educational background, age categories, the frequency of library visit, the completion of information literacy program and library use instruction. Library anxiety is very differed according to the various factors, especially, the library anxiety of knowledge of library, barriers with staff was high, the average LAS score is 2.61, 2.60. Regard to results of this study, conclusion are suggested the recommendations for a decrease in library anxiety of public library users.

There is a strong correlation between library resources and research productivity, as measured by publications and researcher honors. Therefore, first-class information resources of the academic and research libraries are essential to a productive research infrastructure in Korea. The principal aim of this paper is to develop a structure and framework of KORLIN (Korean Research Library Network) for providing seamless access to the analogue and digital information resources of university and research libraries from workstations of researchers.

This study focused on the survey of academic high school students' information needs and their information seeking patterns. On the basis of its results, this study suggested school library services and programs. To do this, this study collected its data through survey and interviews. Specifically, this study discussed 1) the types of academic high school students' everyday concerns and the ways to deal with them. 2) the types and characteristics of their preferred information sources, 3) the school library services and programs for satisfying their information needs.

Library website is medium for connecting library information resources and users. However, searching and accessing methods to information resources in library websites and retrieval systems are mostly designed for users. So, the disabled users have difficulty accessing and using library information resources through library websites. Therefore, the author carried on current status study and analysis on the retrieval system of the national and public library websites in Korea. And then, the author proposes improvement plan in order to enhance satisfaction with information needs of disabled users and to use a basic study for construction of retrieval system of library websites for disabled users.
