  • In this study, it is necessary to supplement the Korean language curriculum in order for international students to adapt and settle in Korea in an era where education is being transformed into future education due to the 4th industry. In the KFL (Korean as a Foreign Language) situation encountered by international students, they suffer from difficulties in university mathematics due to communication problems due to lack of language ability, which is one of the stress factors for cultural adaptation in the Korean language education program. To solve this problem, we analyzed ESL programs in English-speaking countries and KSL programs in Korea to set educational goals, curriculum, and educational methods to achieve goals for international students, and to establish curriculum and learning processes. Therefore, the Korean language education program (KSL program) for foreign students in the Korean language curriculum should also be supplemented by accepting the advantages of setting accurate goals for the ESL program and linking it with university graduation in the curriculum of English-speaking countries. In addition, for international students to learn Korean, an integrated Korean language education course and management system using IT suitable for the 4th industrial age is needed.

  • Integration is an important intellectual ability to reconfigure several separated elements into one unified form and to concisely and categorically express them. In this paper, we classify the types of integration in C language, and propose a systematic and incremental method to transform to better code based on the integration types. This transformation method could also be used as a means to improve integrated thinking and efficiently learn C language, and will improve development ability in C programming or other language programming.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the needs of KOICA learners and to suggest some points to be considered in the development of a Korean language curriculum for KOICA Scholarship Program participants. For this purpose, the researcher first constructed questionnaires for analyzing learner needs based on the primary characteristics of learners that can be observed in actual education sites, and conducted a questionnaire survey for 71 trainees from the 'Graduate School of International Studies'(GSIS) and the 'Graduate School of Public Administration'(GSPA) in Seoul National University. Based on the analysis of the results, the researcher proposed several points to consider in terms of objectives, contents of education, methods of teaching, distribution of class time, textbooks and etc. in the development of a Korean language curriculum for KOICA learners. The 'KOICA Scholarship Program' is expected to continue to be implemented in the future, and it is expected that the development of a customized curriculum and corresponding textbooks for KOICA learners will soon be provided by governmental agencies. The researcher hopes that the results of this study can serve as useful reference.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the presentation of Korean grammar on the Korean grammar textbooks for foreigners. Through the results, this study suggests some examples of grammar based on the discourse and context. Since the communicative approach received much attention, some Korean language forms have been researched in the discourse and context. In that sense, we need to survey the grammars presented in the grammar textbooks. The expressions of Korean epistemic modality and discourse function, ('-지요, -잖아(요), -군요', '-기는 하다') in the grammar textbooks have been analyzed. These expressions need to be described with much contextual and situational information and presented in the discourse. However it is a little insufficient to supply a proper amount of information for Korean language learners. To overcome the deficiency, this study presents some situational and contextual information of certain language forms.

  • Mathematics is a way of thinking. To do mathematics means to think mathematically. In other words, mathematics education and mathematics literacy are related. In elementary and secondary school mathematics education in many countries, teaching of mathematics using textbooks is conducted mostly in their native language. So mathematics education takes place while reading, writing, listening, and speaking mathematics. Analysis of mathematics textbooks for the lower grades of undergraduate mathematics shows that most advanced countries in mathematics use excellent undergraduate mathematics textbooks written in their native language. However, the ratio of using imported textbooks from foreign countries is particularly high in the case of textbooks for mathematics majors at Korean universities. In this article, the effect of language used in university mathematics education is analized. In particular, the importance of high-quality leading-edge university mathematics textbooks in native language is introduced by analyzing the case of Bourbaki in France and 'War of language' at the Israel Institute of Technology. The innovation of French university mathematics education in the 20th century began with Bourbaki's 'Fundamentals of Mathematics', a French textbook written in his native language. Israel's Technion and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem continue to teach all subjects in their mother tongue. This has led to produce many Nobel Prize and Fields medal winners in these two countries. This study shows that textbooks and languages used in university mathematics education has affected mathematical literacy.

  • As the world develops into a global society, more and more people want to speak foreign languages fluently. To speak fluently, you must have sufficient training in speaking, which requires a dialogue partner. Recently, it is expected that the development of voice recognition information technology will enable the development of a system for conducting foreign language speaking training without human beings from the other party. In this study, a test bed system for foreign language speaking training was developed and applied to elementary school classes. Elementary school students were asked to present their English conversation situation and conduct speaking training. Then, satisfaction with the system and potential for continuous utilization were surveyed. The system developed in this study has been identified as helpful for the training of learning to speak a foreign language.

  • This study is for looking into distinguishing features in child KSL learners' early literacy development. For these, the writings, recording data of dialogue, and observational journals of KSL child learners was collected regularly and the data were analysed. As results, KSL child learners showed lots of writing errors due to difficulty in phonological awareness or letter awareness of Korean language. And they seemed to develop the competence of connecting letters and meanings prior to developing the competence of connecting letters and sounds. Three KSL child learners showed great individual differences in development rate, and it is supposed to be mainly caused from differences of literacy development in their mother tongue, or quantity and quality in exposure for Korean language.
