  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the 2015 revised Science Curriculum and Environment Curriculum, and to provide implications for the correlation and complementarity between the two standards. For the analysis of the curriculum, the contents system of the two standards was reorganized based on the four categories of knowledge, attitude, inquiry, participation and practice, which are common literacy elements of science and environment, based on previous studies. Content Analysis was performed on content elements and detailed performance expectation. As a result of this study, there was a difference in terms of the core competencies and goals. The Environment Curriculum emphasized sustainable development and social participation while the Science Curriculum emphasized scientific inquiry and literacy. The contents system analysis results according to the four literacy factors are as follows. First, in terms of attitude, both standards deal with research ethics in common. However Environment Curriculum values learners' values and views on the environment more than Science Curriculum which emphasizes the science attitude as science investigators. Second, there was a serious problem in the knowledge linkage between two standards. In same grade groups, the level of content knowledge dealt in two standards was not consistent. Third, in the inquiry aspect, the Environment Curriculum deals with interdisciplinary topics in the purposefully designed inquiry unit, whereas the Science Curriculum presents various research activities based on related science concepts in every unit. Fourth, in the participation and practice aspect, the Environment Curriculum focused on participation and practice while the Science Curriculum focused on sustainable science and technology development and improvement, scientific interest and decision-making ability. This study provide implications for education for sustainable development(ESD) by providing the complementary potentials between Science Curriculum and Environment Curriculum.

The results showed that 6th middle school science curriculum has 4 criteria, $7^{th}$ has 2 criteria, 2007-revised has 8 criteria, and 2009-revised has 7 criteria. This study suggests the need for developing systemized teaching material on education for sustainable development that can be integrated in the science curriculum by pursuing the following tasks: First, the goal of education for sustainable development and its need should be stated in the science curriculum. Second, the class content, themes, objectives, teaching-learning programs on education for sustainable development should be produced. Third, within science curriculum, the content should deal with perspectives and topics, and learning goal must pursue value education.

On the content of the textbook, the objectives of subunits stressed more on explanation form than on exemplification form. On the questions, most of them were in <activities> and the objectives of questions stressed on the presentation of the contents. The specific aspect referring results, cause, and judgement, etc. were vary rarely checked. The questions seemed as good, because questions were mostly pertinent to the what to ask, and had a good connection to the main text. By the analysis of illustration, illustrations were mostly functioned as supportive and rarely as decorative, Most of them were photographs and printed all in black-and-white pictures.

From the analysis of questionnaire, we obtained the reliability coefficient cronbach alpha value(0.8684). The results of this research as fallows : the principal factors that had chosen the subject of environmental education have significantly higher knowledge, recognition, attitude and practice than that not choiced on the subject of environmental education(p=0.000). The correlation between principal's attitude on the choice of the subject of environmental education and choice state of school was significantly higher than the other factors, and it's correlation coefficient was 0.328(p<0.01). Principal's attitude factor on the choice of the subject of environmental education have a great influence on his practice factor of them, and standard regression coefficient was 0.642(p<0.001). We found that principal's attitude factor on the choice of the subject of environmental education to have a great influence on the choice state of school in view of the results so far achieved.

  • In this study, we discuss pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of pre-service environment teachers since PCK is one of the most important professional competencies for teachers. In Republic of Korea, environmental education is taught as an independent subject in middle and high schools. Thus, pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of environment teachers plays an important role for quality EE at schools. The purpose of this study is to find out the PCK(Pedagogical Content Knowledge) of pre-service environment teachers. Researchers collected and analyzed data from four environmental education department. Study method used a questionnaire for eighty-two pre-service environment teachers. The study results are as follows. Seven part of PCK(Knowledge of Instructional Strategies, Knowledge of Representation, Knowledge of Subject Matter, Knowledge of Evaluation, Knowledge of Students, Knowledge of Curriculum, Knowledge of Environmental Context) exists the significant difference in pre-service environment teachers. The highest part is the Knowledge of Environmental Context and the lowest part is the Knowledge of Evaluation in pre-service teachers. So the curriculum of environmental education department will be changing that emphasize the Knowledge of Evaluation and the Knowledge of Students.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of environmental classes using EBS program on the environmental sensitivity and environmentally responsible behavior of 6th grade elementary school students. To this end, the 2015 revised elementary school curriculum was reconstructed for 6th grade students, and subject-centered environmental classes were planned, and EBS educational broadcasting environmental contents suitable for each class were applied and utilized. The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, this study analyzed the 2015 revised curriculum and reorganized the 6th grade curriculum and creative experience activities to plan the 22nd environmental class, specifying environmental sensitivity and environmentally responsible behavior that can have a positive impact on learners in each class. EBS educational broadcasting environmental contents that can be utilized were selected and environmental classes were conducted using them. Second, it was found that environmental classes using EBS educational broadcasting had a significant effect on improving the environmental sensitivity of elementary school students. The fact that environmental classes using EBS educational broadcasting goes beyond the spatial limitations of schools and informs that global citizens are interested in environmental problems and are working to solve environmental problems. Third, it was found that environmental classes using EBS educational broadcasting had a significant effect on elementary school students' environmentally responsible behavior. This is because environmental classes using EBS educational broadcasting do not stop at imparting knowledge, but suggest learning that leads to civic behavior, educational behavior, economic behavior, physical behavior, and persuasive behavior related to the environment.
