Analysis of Users' Satisfaction Utility for Precipitation Probabilistic Forecast Using Collective Value Score (그룹 가치스코어 모형을 활용한 강수확률예보의 사용자 만족도 효용 분석)

  • This study proposes a mathematical model to estimate the economic value of weather forecast service, among which the precipitation forecast service is focused. The value is calculated in terms of users' satisfaction or dissatisfaction resulted from the users' decisions made by using the precipitation probabilistic forecasts and thresholds. The satisfaction values can be quantified by the traditional value score model, which shows the scaled utility values relative to the perfect forecast information. This paper extends the value score concept to a collective value score model which is defined as a weighted sum of users' satisfaction based on threshold distribution in a group of the users. The proposed collective value score model is applied to the picnic scenario by using four hypothetical sets of probabilistic forecasts, i.e., under-confident, over-confident, under-forecast and over-forecast. The application results show that under-confident type of forecasts outperforms the others as a measure of the maximum collective value regardless of users' dissatisfaction patterns caused by two types of forecast errors, e.g., miss and false alarm.

A Study on Satisfaction of the User Academic Library (대학도서관 이용자의 만족도 조사 연구 - 대진대학교 중앙도서관을 중심으로 -)

  • After researching users'satisfaction on central library service of Daejin university, it shows that they are generally satisfied with facilities but not with the service that supports library use, and satisfied with a book and serial Publications but not with others including thesis. Also, it is shown that librarians in communication with users are insufficient, and their professionalism and capacity are acknowledged but their insincerity and perfunctory attitude are viewed negative to users. Therefore librarians need to actively promote their service to users. Besides, it will be beneficial for librarians to use bulletin board of homepage as a way to continuously reflect claims and complaints from users.

  • This study aims to examine users' perceptions of and experiences about archival reference services in a university archive. The study uses the Researcher Survey provided by the Archival Metrics Project to understand users' perceptions about the university archive and users' satisfaction level of facilities and services. Based on the results of the survey among 47 users and the interview with the archivist working in the university archive, this study suggests recommendations for improving archival reference services.

A Comparative Study on the Usage Behavior and Perception of Horticulturalists and Simple Users for Urban Community Gardens (원예 활동가와 이용자의 도시 커뮤니티가든 이용행태와 인식 비교)

  • This study investigates the usage behavior and the perception of horticulturalists (horticultural activists) and simple users for urban community gardens. To this end, we surveyed 100 horticulturalists and 213 simple users. Questions in the survey are divided into five categories: 1) usage behavior of community gardens, 2) perception on the benefits of community gardens, 3) perception on the pros and cons of setting up community gardens, 4) willingness to pay for community gardens, 5) importance of specific benefits provided by community gardens. According to the survey, 95.0 percent of horticulturalists and 93.4 percent of simple users supported setting up community gardens. 58.0 percent of horticulturalists and 60.6 percent of simple users were willing to pay their residence tax for community gardens. And the annual membership fee plus resident tax of horticulturalists is 460,455 KW per person, which is 80.6 times more than willingness to pay of simple users. The results of this study can be used as basis data for valuing community gardens.

A Study on Library Furniture to support Communication Channel (커뮤니케이션을 지원하는 도서관가구에 관한 연구)

  • Library is a communication channel between book and human. Specially public library furniture plays an important role from every aspect in information materials and users, among users and in relationship between library managers and users. This study defined library furniture as a communication channel which connects library materials and users and was based on 35 local libraries and 12 overseas libraries. The author studied major elements and characteristics which constitute communication types among storage furniture, furniture in reading areas and furniture in digital reading area. The followings are the results from the study. First, storage furniture should be designed by reflecting characteristics of library materials and for effective delivering to the users. Therefore utmost communication can be made by searching for various designs in book-shelves and effective manner of display. Secondly, furniture in reading areas should support various users' needs from customized browsing to long hour studying and there should be properly supported for private space and correspondent reading postures. The third, there are needs for design conditions to support privacy and for comfort from long hour reading and mobility out of posture change in digital reading areas. The fourth, there should be ergonomically designed furniture plan and surroundings in public library which can boost various reading postures. Also furniture plan should be done by considering users' bodies and eyes orientations which can result in improved power of concentration.

Testing a Model to Predict Problem Gambling in Speculative Game Users (사행성 게임 이용자의 문제도박 예측 구조모형)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to develop and test a model for predicting problem gambling in speculative game users based on Blaszczynski and Nower's pathways model of problem and pathological gambling. Methods: The participants were 262 speculative game users recruited from seven speculative gambling places located in Seoul, Gangwon, and Gyeonggi, Korea. They completed a structured self-report questionnaire comprising measures of problem gambling, negative emotions, attentional impulsivity, motor impulsivity, non-planning impulsivity, gambler's fallacy, and gambling self-efficacy. Structural Equation Modeling was used to test the hypothesized model and to examine the direct and indirect effects on problem gambling in speculative game users using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 20.0 programs. Results: The hypothetical research model provided a reasonable fit to the data. Negative emotions, motor impulsivity, gambler's fallacy, and gambling self-efficacy had direct effects on problem gambling in speculative game users, while indirect effects were reported for negative emotions, motor impulsivity, and gambler's fallacy. These predictors explained 75.2% problem gambling in speculative game users. Conclusion: The findings suggest that developing intervention programs to reduce negative emotions, motor impulsivity, and gambler's fallacy, and to increase gambling self-efficacy in speculative game users are needed to prevent their problem gambling.

Differences in Privacy-Protective Behaviors by Internet Users in Korea and China (인터넷 사용자의 개인정보보호 행동의 차이에 관한 연구)

  • Privacy-protective behavior can be classified into passive behavior and active behavior. Passive behavior includes refusal, misrepresentation, and removal, while word-of-mouth, complaint, and seeking for help belong to active behavior. Internet users in different countries may take different types of privacy-protective behavior because of cultural and social differences. This study analyzes the differences in Internet users' privacy-protective behavior between Korea and China. Korean Internet users take refusal, complaint, and seeking to protect their privacy information, while misrepresentation is not an option for Korean Internet users. Chinese Internet users take refusal, complaint, seeking, and misrepresentation to protect their privacy information. In Korea, passive behavior (refusal) is chosen more often than active behavior (complaint and seeking for help), while in China active behavior(complaint and seeking for help) is preferred to passive behavior (refusal and misrepresentation). The differences of privacy-protective behavior in the two countries may provide some implications for online companies, if they want to avoid the business risk due to privacy concerns and to take appropriate steps to deal with privacy-protective behavior by Internet users.

Customer Personalized System of eCRM Using Web Log Mining and Rough Set

  • In this paper, we propose a customer personalized system that presents the web pages to users which are customized to their individuality. It analyzes the action of users who visit the shopping mall, and preferentially supplies the necessary information to them. When they actually buy some items, it forecasts the users' access pattern to web site and their following purchasable items and improves their web pare on the bases of their individuality. It reasons the relation among the web documents and among the items by using the log data of web server and the purchase information of DB. For reasoning it employs Rough Set, which is a method that searches the association rule and offers most suitable cases by reduces cases. It reasons the web pages by considering the users' access pattern and time by using the web log and reasons the users' purchase pattern by using the purchase information of DB. On the basis of the relation among them, it appends the related web pages to link of users' web pages and displays the inferred goods on users' web pages.

  • This study intended for Cheongryongsan Community Garden in Gwanak-gu, one of the demonstration places for 'Community Garden' Project recently implemented by the Seoul Government. This study had two major purposes: investigating the current status of the management and usage and identifying its characteristics; investigating users' awareness to consider the construction and operation directions of sustainable community gardens. This study was conducted based on several surveys such as an investigation into the spatial configuration and the management system of parks through a field study, a use survey through a questionnaire survey for vegetable garden users and an awareness survey about the construction direction of gardens direction preferred by users through the analytical hierarchy process (AHP). As a result of a questionnaire survey for vegetable garden users, the usage status was summarized as follows: Considering the common trends in the 2012 and the 2013 user survey, women used Cheongryongsan Vegetable Garden more than men. Over fifties used it most of all users. Users were mostly neighborhood residents. They used to visit there three to five times a week and stayed for about 30 minutes to one hour. Users differently responded to the question related to the order of priority for the use of the garden in the 2012 and the 2013 survey. They had increasingly used it for individuals' production activities more than social exchanges. As a result of making an AHP analysis for general park users, vegetable garden users there were clear differences in the targets which each subject put emphasis on in relation to the construction and operation of vegetable gardens. General park users recognized a vegetable garden as a park where park functions and the functions of the vegetable garden coexisted. On the other hand, vegetable garden users viewed it as a space where they attached importance to the functions of the vegetable garden like an allotment. Last, this study contemplated subjects related to the construction and operation of vegetable gardens which had to be considered in the future. Vegetable gardens tended to be biased as personal hobby places. It was viewed that the main reason was insufficient support activities for vegetable garden education and exchange programs originally planned when vegetable gardens had been constructed. Vegetable garden users recognized vegetable gardens as places for individuals' farming activities like allotments. For the desirable operation of vegetable gardens, it would be necessary to give priority to the park management before the production activities in individuals' vegetable gardens. The important role of the government would be to build the base through the provision of education and opportunities so that a local resident organization could actively participate in the management of a vegetable garden after a vegetable garden was constructed. It would be necessary to make a use survey and an awareness survey for users conducted in this study on a regular basis because the surveys could be important basic data in the decision-making process for the sustainable operations of the vegetable garden.

  • This study examined and analyzed users' behavior to recreation forest facilities and their satisfaction to recreation forest in order to offer some basal data which would be helpful to create new recreation forest, to supply users' needs in exsiting recreation forest, and to make excellent maintenance of recreation forest. The results are as follows ; Restroom, campground and forest aromatic bath ground were the most popular facilities with the users of recreation forest. And restroom, snack stand and water cooler were the most required facilities by the users. Before using recreation forest, users' expectation to enjoy aesthetics of nature, to be released from their fatigue and to rest, was the highest one. And users were satisfied most as they expected most from recreation forest. The major variables played for users' satisfaction about facility allocation and its harmony to the forest, were how clean the facilities are, how well they are repaired and maintained, how much noise users make around them, how easy to use them, and how beautiful the surroundings are. Users' satisfaction variables about vegetation condition of recreation forest, were diversity of vegetation, the shade of trees, the reservation of the forest, and the accordance of vegetation with the surroundings. Users' satisfaction variables about facility condition in recreation forest, were how easy to access to the recreation facilities and restroom, how clean they are, how well the trash cans are allocated, how easy to access to the field kitchen. And how good the forest is protected and nurtured, how well the forest managers conduct users' behavior, how effectively recreation forest is guided and informed to the public, were their major satisfaction variables about the management of Recreation Forest.
