  • An adaptive state and input estimator for the tracking of a target with unknown randomly switching input is developed. In modeling the unknown inputs, it is assumed that the input sequence is governed by semi-Markov process. By incorporating the semi-Markov probability concepts into the Bayesian estimation theory, an effective adaptive state and input estimator which consists of parallel Kalman-type filters is obtained. Computer simulation results reveal that the proposed adaptive estimator have improved tracking performance in spite of the unknown randomly switching input.

  • The LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) I/O cells, fully compatible with ANSI TIA/ EIA-644 LVDS standard, are designed using a 0.35${\mu}m$ standard CMOS technology. With a single 3V supply, the core cells operate at 1.34Gbps and power consumption of the output driver and the input receiver is 10. 5mW and 4.2mW, respectively. In the output driver, we employ the DCMFB (Dynamic Common-Mode FeedBack) circuit which can control the DC offset voltage of differential output signals. The SPICE simulation result of the proposed output driver shows that the variation of the DC offset voltage is 15.6% within a permissible range. In the input receiver, the proposed dual input stage with a positive feedback latch covers rail-to-rail input common-mode range and enables a high-speed, low-power operation. 5-channels of the proposed LVDS I/O pair can handle display data up to 8-bit gray scale and UXGA resolution.

  • Multi-input multi-output (MIMO) dynamic matrix control (DMC) technique is applied to control steam temperatures in a large-scale ultrasupercritical once-through boiler-turbine system. Specifically, four output variables (i.e., outlet temperatures of platen superheater, finish superheater, primary reheater, and finish reheater) are controlled using four input variables (i.e., two spray valves, bypass valve, and damper). The step-response matrix for the MIMO DMC is constructed using the four input and the four output variables. Online optimization is performed for the MIMO DMC using the model predictive control technique. The MIMO DMC controller is implemented in a full-scope power plant simulator with satisfactory performance.

  • This paper proposes a new soft switching dual input converter for renewable energy systems. Multi-input converters are produced by combining discrete converters. These converters reduce the number of circuit elements, cost, volume and weight of the converter and provide a constant output power in different weather conditions. Furthermore, soft switching techniques can be applied to increase efficiency. In this paper, a Zero Voltage Transition (ZVT) dual input boost converter is presented. Only one auxiliary circuit is used to provide the soft switching condition for all of the semiconductor elements. The proposed converter, which is simulated by ORCAD software, is theoretically analyzed. To confirm the validity of the theoretical analysis, a prototype of proposed converter was constructed. Simulation and experimental results confirm the theoretical analysis. An efficiency comparison shows a one percent improvement at nominal loads.

  • This paper is proposed a sinusoidal input voltage Multi-level AC-DC Converter using transformer. In this paper Multi-level PWM Control converter which controls input current by combining buck Converters together to improve input current characteristic, and confirmed its validity throughout simulation and experiment. This method, which is multiplying and duplicating output of converter of equal capacity, is able to control unit power factor of input current, reduce the problem caused by high frequency switching, and apply to high power converter because filter is not necessary.

  • This thesis deals with the design problem of the state estimator for digital servo system. Digital servo system has input time delay, which depends on the size of control algorithm. The delayed input is a factor that brings out the state estimation error. So, in order to reduce this state estimation error of the system, we proposes a state estimator in which the delayed input of the system is considered. At first, a discrete-time state-space model is established accounting for the delayed input. Next, the state estimator is designed based on this model. we employ Kalman filter algorithm in design of the state estimator. The performance of proposed state estimator is exemplified via some simulations and experiment for servo system. And robustness of the proposed estimator to modelling error by variation of the system parameter is also shown in these simulations.

  • A laser welding has been made between sintered tip of Fe-Co-W and low carbon steel shank for the diamond saw blade. The welding characteristics and formation of defect has been investigated carefully for the weld fusion zone in different welding condition. Full penetration has been observed for the whole range of heat input investigated in the present work. Bead width and under-fill have been increased with the increase of heat input. With increasing of heat input small cavities were decreased while large cavities were increased. The ratio of total cavity area to the entire weld bead area was not changed significantly with change of heat input. Most of cavities were found near the tip, and supposed to be formed from the pore in the tip.

  • In this paper we propose a new thchnology mapping algorithm for multiplexer-based FPGA's The algorithm consists of three phases` First, it converts the logic functions and the basic logic mocule into BDD's. Second. it covers the logic function with the basic logic modules. Lastly, it reduces the number of basic logic modules used to implement the logic function after going through cell merging procedure. The binate selection is employed to determine the order of input variables of the logic function to constructs the balanced BDD with low level. That enables us to constructs the circuit that has small size and delay time. Technology mapping algorithm of previous work used one basic logic module to implement a two-input or three-input function in logic functions. The algorithm proposed here merges almost all pairs of two-input and three-input functions that occupy one basic logic module. and improves the mapping results. We show the effectiveness of the algorithm by comparing the results of our experiments with those of previous systems.

  • A new switching mode has been proposed to obtain high power factor and low THD in single stage AC-DC converter. The conventional voltage mode control in critical conduction mode distorts input current shape with poor THD in flyback topology. Once TRIAC dimmer is connected, visible flicker in the LED lamp is easily detected due to a lack of TRAIC holding current near the input voltage zero cross. The newly proposed method can shape the input current by providing a desired reference voltage so that low THD is obtained by ideal sinusoidal input current in case of no dimmer connection and flat input current performs good TRIAC dimmer compatibility in phase-cut dimming condition. To confirm the validity of the proposed method, theoretical analysis and experimental result from 8W dimmable LED lighting system are presented.

  • A new control method of three phase converter without measuring input phase-voltage and DC-link voltage is proposed. Input phase-voltage of these required voltages is estimated using EKF(Extended Kalman Filter) and DC-link voltage is estimated from the measured line currents and the estimated input phase-voltage. This control method is achieved without PLL(Phase Locked Loop) which senses the angle of input phase-voltage and DC-link voltage sensor. In addition, the proposed method controls high power factor and DC-link voltage utilizing the estimated phase angle. This paper describes the effectiveness of the proposed estimated algorithm through simulations.
