  • Modernism in architecture is a very complex and contradictory phenomena. So much so that it has been defined in various ways throughout the history, depending on one's position in the cultural and historical circumstances. It is thus necessary to map out the various concepts of modernism and their relationships in order to have a more comprehensive understanding of modern architecture. This paper attempts to define the various positions as functionalism, formalism and artistic avant-gardism, and to trace their history from the early twentieth century to the present. The change of the concept of modernism from functionalism to artistic avant-gardism seems a logical process in the history of western modem culture. The tendency of contemporary architecture to be more abstract and self referential artistic practice reflects the fragmentation of modern culture and the separation of art and technology. The validity of this position, of course, depends on how one evaluates the role of modern art in the situation of modern culture. It could be viewed either negatively or positively. However, this position is problematic in that it disregards the fundamental differences between architecture and other arts and distanced architecture farther from its material base. Given this historical perspective on the concept of modernism, modernism in Korea should not viewed simply identical to the western modernism, nor should western modernism be imported uncritically. The characteristics of her modernization and their differences from the west should be considered, along with the different status and role of architecture in korean modern society.

  • 'Place' as the spacial concept became now key concept in the environments and architecture from the mid 20th century. The purpose of this study is to explain the placeness in Aldo Rossi's architecture according to space sequence. Aldo Rossi has attempted to apply the typological elements for the restoration of place in the cites and buildings which had ruined by modem architecture. Therefore It would be important for us to find out a method which making placeness in Aldo Rossi's architecture. Experiencing place could be examined by the method of space sequence. The experience of place is related to the experience of the human body in architecture space. The experience of place in space can make a unique placeness of architect. And, the experience of the place through the movement of the body and the vista, is the key elements of space sequence to explain the placeness in architecture. The results of this research are following. (1)Key space which related to movement of human body in Aldo Rossi's architecture make a set consisted of a goal space and the surrounding space. (2)The Arrange of Space and the formation of the boundary is more complex in the dispersed buildings than that of the single building. (3)The typological elements like a courtyard, a cylinder and the axis in the buildings made the goal space and helping people to find the orientation of human body.

  • In the 19th century, a series of study by Hittorff, Semper, Ruskin, and others on architectural polychromy in various perspectives appeared. This presumed that the architectural polychromy could become an essential part of architectural composition and contribute to create new architectural style, if not, at least new architectural and cultural context of the 19th century, the period when it is considered that the stylistic evolution in architecture is absent. In the course of the stylistic development of church architecture of the 19th century in France, the architectural polychromy, grounded in a theory of representation, played a critical role as one of the main sources to create new architectural vision. The church architecture during the Second Empire in France was particularly susceptible to be influenced by this inevitable phenomenon, which signified an epistemological mutation in architectural perception beyond optical and perspective effect in the history of architecture. Here the study attempts to recognize the aesthetic value of the architectural polychromy in the 19th century, and investigate its application, as not just an aspect of architectural embellishment but an indispensable portion of architectural vocabulary, on the church architecture in France throughout the 19th century, then to define its role in creating new architectural environment.

  • The types of China Ancientry Architecture are rich and colorful. Among all these architectures, the Traditional Residence Architecture have the closest relationship with the mass's life. Traditional Residence Architecture reflected the connotation of the culture, philosophy ideology, especially the relationship between dwelling house and the nature, which can't be ignored by our modern people as well as the modern design. Beijing Sahap-won residence architecture is one of the apotheosis of China Traditional Residence Architecture, it'svery suitable for family's habitation. There's brilliance layout in space; around symmetry and radioactivity in plane, discretion grade in line, independence and continuity in inner spatial, with high privacy and benignity, Before the development and explore of modern APT Architecture design, we should fully understand the feature of Ancientry Residence House, inherit and carry forward its culture. The proposed design is started from the consolidation of the traditional feature of Beijing Sahap-won and the modern residence architecture, therefore to satisfy the modern people's fierce pursuing to the traditional culture.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand whether the architecture of the mountain village conforms to the geography and local landscape, and become a unique scenic element. Also, the study is to grasp the status of the village landscape design elements. The methods and contents of the study were surveyed by field research with references in Biederbach community, an isolated mountain village in Southwestern Germany. The time frame for the survey research is July 2015. The contents of the study include the analysis of the village's landscape structure, architecture, and landscape design patterns. The following conclusions were reached through the above research process. First, the village landscape structure seen in the mid-distance view is the hilly scene of the alpine region, which houses the sloping terrain of Black Forest and surrounds the residential area with the grassland covered by the Black Forest. Second, the main elements of the town's landscape building are historical culture, traditional architecture, topology and nature, and artificial environmental design. Third, the landscape design utilizing the village's resources creates a sustainable community's residential environment.

  • A general purpose language is defined and a computer architecture suitable for this language is proposed. The proposed architecture utilities the microprogramming technique. The significant features of the proposed architecture are the reduction of the overhead in micro-module swapping and graceful degradation of the execution upon detection of the micro.module fault in the time-sharing environment.

  • [ $\circ$ ] Enterprise architecture is essential for ROI of e-Enterprise. $\circ$ An architecture is described from business, application, data and technical views and these must be complete and consistent. $\circ$ UML-based CBD is currently the best approach to obtaining architecture-centric, flexible and interoperable systems. $\circt$ Reuse of architecture, components, shared services and app frameworks is key to achieving both quality and productivity. $\circ$ Web service, the NBT, cannot be tapped without the architecting capability. $\circ$ Architects with world-class domain as well as software engineering knowledge are key to success of Korean software industry.

  • There are various which organize architectural forms. The concept of Collage is one of the ways to understand various situation in the Contemporary Architecture and the needed to be underrtood to solve problems in architecture, painting, sculpture etc. Formal characteristic of collage aesthetics proposed by the Cubism appeared to a creative element for a new form in the trends of architecture. Results of this study are as follows. In the Housing Architecture, the Collage is transposed to the subjective form than the general form, and is used as a method to solve problems such as a perception in interior and exterior spaces and urban contexts.

  • A hardware architecture is presented of a wavelet based multiple line addressing driving scheme for passive matrix displays using the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays), which will be integrated in the scalable video coding $architecture^{[1]}$. The incoming compressed video data stream will then directly be transformed to the required column voltages by the hardware architecture without the need of employing the video decompression.
