  • In 2004, Korea has become the world's fifth-express train states, Honam high-speed railroad which goes down another line with existing Kyoungbu high-speed railroad is divided 19 construction sectors, its total length is 230.9 km and it will be constructed by 2017. This site is located in Jeollabukdo Jeong-eup district along 9.38 km. There are three representative bridges. ;One is the PSC box girder bridge, another is the Extradosed bridge, and the other is the three continuous spans half-through hybrid arch bridge. This paper shows a planning and design of these bridges.

  • The noises which occurs from the rolling stock can be divided largely into three classes and they are Rolling noise, Traction noise and Aerodynamic noise. In the event of braking the rolling stock which enter into the station, Brake shoes cause Fraction noise (braking noise) and excessive braking noise makes passengers and operators uncomfortable. This study is to reduce squeal noise and minimize displeasure by measuring the braking noise and defining the major noise sources and noise mechanism

  • This study presents the simulation of the traction return current based on 2${\times}$25kV power supply system in order to determine the impedance bond intensity of impulse type track circuit on the Kyoungbo electrification line. The results of simulation enables us to measure the precise intensity of catenary current, returning to the substation through KTX (Korean Train Express) operated by 2${\times}$25kV power supply system with common earth network. In the wake of establishing 2${\times}$25kV and common earth network used in Korea for the first time, in particular, it is possible to determine the impedance bond intensity of impulse type track circuit, which is applicable to the Kyoungbo electrification line by specifying the relations among the traction return current, earth current, and catenary current.

  • Korean Train Express (KTX) has opened to commercial traffic since 2004 at maximum speed 300km/h, and Korea High-speed Railway (HSR-350x) was developed by Korean government, several institutes, and related companies. HSR-350x is now being investigated its performance and tested at the high speed line. In 2004 December, HSR-350x was run over 350km/h and proved its running performance. In vehicle system, the faster the vehicle runs, the more vibration increases. To improve the riding comfort of high-speed trains, it needs to devise the vibration absorber. In this paper, we propose the installation of the semi-active damper to the power car of HSR 350x and present the specification and the damping characteristics.

  • Republic of korea has begun operating high speed train service according as KTX service operation starts in 2004. Also, EMU whose maximum speed is over 150 kph will be starting to service with electrification and improvement of existing railroad. Moreover, metropolitan electric railways have begun an express service to increase scheduled speed. Therefore, running resistance of rolling stock becomes more important factor effects on the performance. Running resistance of rolling stock is the factor which is necessary for the performance or operation plan of rolling stock, and it's related to rolling friction, slip friction, drag force, gradient, acceleration, curvature, tunnel condition and so on. It is possible to be calculated by CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). However it is predicted by experimental equation from running resistance test because of the complex calculation and manifold variables. In this paper, studies about running resistance of rolling stock is introduced, and each term of experimental equation is studied through theoretical approximation. Also, running resistance of rolling stock is estimated by the result of running resistance test, and effects being related to friction, drag force, gradient is examined.

Tensile Properties Estimation Method Using Convolutional LSTM Model

  • In this paper, we propose a displacement measurement method based on deep learning using image data obtained from tensile tests of a material specimen. We focus on the fact that the sequential images during the tension are generated and the displacement of the specimen is represented in the image data. So, we designed sample generation model which makes sequential images of specimen. The behavior of generated images are similar to the real specimen images under tensile force. Using generated images, we trained and validated our model. In the deep neural network, sequential images are assigned to a multi-channel input to train the network. The multi-channel images are composed of sequential images obtained along the time domain. As a result, the neural network learns the temporal information as the images express the correlation with each other along the time domain. In order to verify the proposed method, we conducted experiments by comparing the deformation measuring performance of the neural network changing the displacement range of images.

Proper Noun Embedding Model for the Korean Dependency Parsing

  • Dependency parsing is a decision problem of the syntactic relation between words in a sentence. Recently, deep learning models are used for dependency parsing based on the word representations in a continuous vector space. However, it causes a mislabeled tagging problem for the proper nouns that rarely appear in the training corpus because it is difficult to express out-of-vocabulary (OOV) words in a continuous vector space. To solve the OOV problem in dependency parsing, we explored the proper noun embedding method according to the embedding unit. Before representing words in a continuous vector space, we replace the proper nouns with a special token and train them for the contextual features by using the multi-layer bidirectional LSTM. Two models of the syllable-based and morpheme-based unit are proposed for proper noun embedding and the performance of the dependency parsing is more improved in the ensemble model than each syllable and morpheme embedding model. The experimental results showed that our ensemble model improved 1.69%p in UAS and 2.17%p in LAS than the same arc-eager approach-based Malt parser.

  • Last 1970's Korea opened the Kyoung-bu highways from Seoul to Pusan, and Korea government had change the transportation policy to focusing on the road and motors. but 1990's Korea had been the heavily traffic jam in long distant transportation system and logistics. That's why Korea government studied on feasibility survey of High-speed train. As the KTX opens, traffic networks covering large areas In Kyeongbu-line (Seoul- Daejeon- Busan) are expected to raise synergy effects in economics as well as in korean culture respects. Having been playing an important transportation role in Korea for the last 106 years. With opening of the high speed railway, KORAIL in inevitable to make a drastic reform. To achieve this purpose, it is necessary that KORAIL has to be small and effective streamlined organization. In should increase traffic capacity by improving infra facilities. It need to also expand its internal functions by connecting the KTX with the conventional railroad system.

  • As sustainable growth has been emphasized in the field of transportation, the railway system has been promoted as an environmentally-friendly transport mode. However, mode shifts from other transport modes to railway have been sluggish. In this context, to enhance the understanding of railway's competitive advantages and disadvantages, this research evaluates travelers'preferences for public transport modes for inter-regional trips: such understanding should make it possible to formulate effective policy for promoting railways. To this end, passenger recognition of competitive transport modes has been measured by applying multidimensional scaling analysis for six major inter-regional public transport services - KTX, ITX-Samaeul, Mugunghwa-ho, premium express bus, general express bus, and airline. As a result, we can conceptualize the recognition similarity in two-dimensional space, and understand how travelers perceive the six major transport modes.
