  • A knowledge-based image retrieval technique is image searching methods using some features from the queried image. The materials in this study are automobile head lamps. The input data is composed of characters and images which have various pattern. The numbers, special symbols, and general letters are under the category of the character. The image informations are made up of the distribution of pixel data, statistical analysis, and state of pattern which are useful for the knowledge data. In this paper, we implemented a retrieval system for the scientific crime detection at traffic accident using the proposed multi knowledge-based image retrieval technique. The values for the multi knowledge-based image features were extracted from color and gray scale each. With this 22 features, we improved the retrieval efficiency about the color information and pattern information. Visual basic, crystal report and MS access DB were used for this application. We anticipate the efficient scientific detection for the traffic accident and the tracking of suspicious vehicle.

  • Unlike the existing Visual Question Answering(VQA) problems, the new Visual Commonsense Reasoning(VCR) problems require deep common sense reasoning for answering questions: recognizing specific relationship between two objects in the image, presenting the rationale of the answer. In this paper, we propose a novel deep neural network model, KG_VCR, for VCR problems. In addition to make use of visual relations and contextual information between objects extracted from input data (images, natural language questions, and response lists), the KG_VCR also utilizes commonsense knowledge embedding extracted from an external knowledge base called ConceptNet. Specifically the proposed model employs a Graph Convolutional Neural Network(GCN) module to obtain commonsense knowledge embedding from the retrieved ConceptNet knowledge graph. By conducting a series of experiments with the VCR benchmark dataset, we show that the proposed KG_VCR model outperforms both the state of the art(SOTA) VQA model and the R2C VCR model.

  • Fuzzy Cognitive Map (FCM) and Bayesian Belief Network (BBN) are two major frameworks for modeling, representing and reasoning about causal knowledge. Despite their extensive use in causal knowledge engineering, there is no reported work which compares their respective roles. This paper aims to fill the gap by providing a qualitative comparison of the two frameworks through a systematic analysis based on some inherent features of the frameworks. We proposed a set of comparison criteria which covers the entire process of causal knowledge engineering, including modeling, representation, and reasoning. These criteria are usability, expressiveness, reasoning capability, formality, and soundness. The results of comparison have revealed some important facts about the characteristics of FCM and BBN, which will help to determine how FCM and BBN should be used, with respect to each other, in causal knowledge engineering.

  • In order to overcome the problems with first generation expert systems at the symbol level, recently various knowledge level development techniques of second generation expert systems have been proposed. But, these techniques are conceptual modelling techniques. This paper modifies and complements these conceptual modelling techniques and proposes a Task Object Modelling (TOM) technique as a practical knowledge level expert system development technique. This paper defines a Task Object(TO) as a knowledge unit consisted of a goal, execution conditions, behaviour knowledge, and so on. And, we define a Task Object Diagram(TOD) to depict structual, dynamic, and functional aspects of TO easily. We also define Inference Types as basic units to describe behaviour knowledge of TOs. In order to utilize the proposed TOM technique as not a simple conceptual modelling technique but a practical second generalion expert system development technique, we implement a TOD editor, a TO editor, and TO processing algorithm based on the state of TOs. Also we implement a Inference Types Library, in which each inference type is corresponded to an IRE(Jntelligent Rules Element) method, to transform the defined inference types into IRE methods automatically.
