In recent years, social media that has emerged with the development of network technology has changed the channels of information dissemination. The social Q&A community is a platform for knowledge-sharing activities in a question-and-answer manner based on Web 2.0. In knowledge-sharing activities, valuable new knowledge continues to be produced and will surely bring great benefits to individuals or businesses. In the social Q&A community, the user's subjective factors play a crucial role in influencing the user's continued use and participation in knowledge-sharing activities. In order for users to actively participate in knowledge-sharing activities in the community, it needs to grasp their subjective ideas. The three factors self-efficacy, self-development motivation, and social comparison tendencies were derived, and identify their relationship with knowledge-sharing activities and community-boosting efforts through empirical analysis. In addition, the influence of knowledge acquisition on knowledge provision was investigated through sense of reciprocity. Implications of the study findings and the future research directions were also discussed.

This study explores the role of knowledge sharing activities among team members and performance in R&D setting. Knowledge sharing activities are classified into two : Knowledge sharing activity within/outside team. And the relationships between the knowledge activities and R&D performance are also examined according to three R&D stages : basic, applied, and developmental research. A empirical study was conducted at a research institute of large company that leads the advanced research and development of the domestic chemical industry. Data was collected 292 copies out of 500 copies (Response rate 58.4%). The result indicated that knowledge sharing within and outside the team has a positive effect on R&D Performance. In particular, knowledge sharing within the team has a greater effect on R&D outcomes in basic research stage. Knowledge sharing outside the team has a greater effect on R&D outcomes in the development research stage. In the R&D organization, it is important that members of the team are well-connected and understanding each other, but they should encourage positive relationships with external members of the team. Depending on the R&D field of the team, the basic research field should concentrate more on knowledge sharing within the team, while the development research field should focus more on knowledge sharing outside the team.
Purpose The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of social capitals on organizational knowledge sharing characteristics and individual innovation activities in community of practice (CoP) of manufacturing company. Design/methodology/approach For this purpose, we divide social capitals as three dimensions, i.e. structural, relational, and cognitive dimension. Structural dimension also consists of closure and Brokerage. Relational social capital is defined as trust about colleagues, superior authorities, and organization. Then, cognitive social capital is defined as a shared understanding among individuals, such as a shared language and codes within CoP. Knowledge Sharing is defined as quantity and quality of shared knowledge. We also defines the cause and effect relationships among social capitals, organizational knowledge sharing characteristics, and individual innovation activities in CoP of manufacturing company as follows. The social capitals will have positive effects on quality of shared knowledge. Then the quality of shared knowledge will have positive effects on the individual innovation activities. This paper tested the validity of these hypothesized casual effects and the sub-hypothesized causal relationships. For the purpose, we used the Partial Least Squares (PLS) for analyzing the causal relationships. Findings Our empirical results show that social capitals of CoP mostly have effects on organizational knowledge sharing characteristics (quantity and quality of shared knowledge) and knowledge sharing activities also have effects on individual innovative activities in the workplace. In this study, these result have a significant implication that a private company will be able to gain organizational innovative performance much better by strengthening CoP supporting activities.
Purpose - This paper aims to examine the impact of buyer-supplier cooperation on suppliers' trust on buyers and the moderating role of buyers' governance mechanism between the sharing activities and trust. Research design, data, and methodology - An integrated research model is designed to materialize the research hypotheses. First, the impact of buyer-supplier cooperation is empirically analyzed by looking into how the sharing activities, in the field of information, resource, and knowledge, of buyer with supplier will affect the trust of supplier on buyer. Second, the moderating effect of contract-based governance mechanism of buyer is empirically analyzed. Third, the influence of trust on innovation performance of suppler is empirically analyzed. Results - Our findings provide supporting evidence for some of our hypotheses. First, all of the sharing activities are significantly influential, but in different degree, to trust of supplier. Second, contract-based governance mechanism of buyer have a moderating effect on the relationship between sharing activities and trust, positively in resource-sharing activities, negatively in information-sharing activities, not significant in knowledge-sharing activities. Third, supplier's trust on buyer positively affects supplier's own innovation performance. Conclusions - The strategies applied in supply chain management have become important as the competition among firms has shifted from competition between individual firms to competition between supply chains. A customer's sharing activities with its supplier may contribute to an increase in innovation performance. The supplier's information-sharing activity with its customer could affect its information-sharing activities with its main supplier. Cooperative activity with a partner in the supply chain is cultivated and amassed into relationship knowledge, and this study shows that the cooperative relational knowledge related to information-sharing activities enables firms to participate in sharing activities with their main suppliers. Increasing evidence shows that sharing various activities between buyer and supplier improves trust and performance outcomes, and enables firms to maintain competitive advantage. From the perspective of knowledge theory, external knowledge is becoming more important in firms' innovation activities, because innovative knowledge is acquired primarily through interaction with another organization. In addition, relationship learning could be an important tool in absorbing the supplier's core technology, information, expertise, and core competencies, increasing relational value.

Workplace knowledge sharing is a complex process and there are a large number of studies in the area. In this article three theoretical approaches in library and information science are used to discuss knowledge sharing in the workplace. The approaches are information behavior, social capital, and information culture, and they bring important insights that need to be considered from a holistic management point of view when it comes to knowledge sharing. The individual's relation to different levels of context is important, meaning both in relation to work roles, work tasks, situations, organizational structures, and culture. The frameworks also shed light on where and how knowledge sharing activities are present in the organization. From a knowledge management point of view, it is important to acknowledge that when knowledge is valued, there is also an awareness of the knowledge sharing activities. Also, in addition to more traditional views of context, the frameworks bring forward different views on context, such as time and space as contextual factors.

This study investigates the core motivations for boosting transfer behavior of training and knowledge sharing. To empirically test the impacts of employee training, servant leadership and self-efficacy, a survey was conducted in small-medium sized companies. The data (N=292) were analyzed using structural equation modeling analysis. The results indicate that higher employee training positively leads to self-efficacy and transfer behavior of training. Servant leadership is positively leads to self-efficacy, transfer behavior of training, and knowledge sharing. Self-efficacy of employees induces greater transfer behavior of training and knowledge sharing. Finally, transfer behavior of training encourages workers to increase knowledge sharing. This study represents an initial step to examine the psychological mechanism of improving employees' transfer behavior of training and knowledge sharing activities based on the employee training qualities and servant leaderships.
