R&D 혁신역량과 기업성과 간의 관계 연구 (The Empirical Study on Relation between R&D Innovation Capability and Performance in Knowledge-Based Service Firms)

  • Purpose: This empirical study is focused on the relationship between innovation capability (R&D and Human Resource innovation) and performance in knowledge-based service firms. Methods: We build research model to test how each of innovation capability on technology and human resource is influenced on their financial and non-financial performance in the knowledge-based service industries. Based on the previous research, we hypothesized the factors are regarded innovation capabilities of the firms as the scale of R&D and human resources. Because this study is especially targeted to the performance of knowledge-based service firms. With the survey on 424 main knowledge-based service firms, the multi-regression analysis was performed. Results: The result showed that the scale of R&D and human resources capabilities are main factors for knowledge-based service firms' performance, which reflects the current industrial structure. Conclusion: This study empirically demonstrated that human resources are most important to the growth of knowledge-based service firms.

IT서비스 기업의 윤리 수준과 혁신 경영 성과 (The Business Ethics and Innovation Management Performance of IT Service Firm's in Korea)

  • This paper discussed about business ethics and innovation management performance of IT service firms in Korea. To prove empirically the research hypothesis, the statistical analysis was based on the response from the 92 IT Service firms in Korean. As analysis results, it was found that the business ethics of organizations were the effect factors of the innovation management performance. And the knowledge competency and creativity are confirmed as a mediator between the business ethics and innovation management performance. So this paper suggests that business ethics in organizations are the important factor for enhancement of IT service firm's innovation performance. Specially the mediation effects of knowledge competency and creativity variables were proved empirically for the relation between the business ethics and innovation management performance. So it is desirable that knowledge-based service firms, for example IT service firms, have to strive to upgrade their level of business ethics and to link with their creativity and knowledge competency.

  • As Korea's global IT sourcing is sluggish and supply of qualified IT personnel does not meet the demand, IT developers currently do not worry about their job security. The sluggish global sourcing is attributed to the lack of system design and analysis skills as well as lack of communication skills of IT personnel. Most of big Korean IT service firms operate in captive market. This is also attributed to the cause of the sluggish global sourcing. Some IT managers, especially in global IT service firms, concerned about the negative long term effect of the sluggish global sourcing on competitiveness and human infra capability of Korea's IT service industry. Managers in IT service firms expect skill requirement changes in the future when global sourcing becomes active. The skills and knowledge that they wish to retain in-house is business knowledge, system analysis and design knowledge, customer relation management skills, project management skills and industry knowledge. The jobs with the above knowledge usually involve customers.

  • 글로벌 경제전반에 서비스가 미치는 영향이 증가하면서, 서비스를 통해 가치를 창출하는 혁신에 대한 새로운 관점이 요구되고 있다. 최근 서비스 혁신은 서비스와 관련된 모든 창조적인 활동으로 이해되고 있으며, 기업이 아닌 고객주도하에서 서비스의 품질을 향상시키는데 중점을 두고 있다. 이는 고객의 역할이 서비스 거래만을 주도하는 수동적인 행위자에서 서비스 관련 활동에 적극적으로 참여하는 능동적인 행위자로 변화함에 따라, 지식서비스 기업이 고객과 긴밀한 관계를 가질 수 있는 다양한 상호작용 활동을 수행할 때 혁신을 이끌 수 있음을 의미한다. 이를 토대로 본 연구에서는 서비스 혁신에 관한 단순한 개념적 수준의 연구에서 벗어나, 서비스 혁신에 영향을 미치는 서비스 기업과 고객기업 간의 상호작용성과 이들 간에 공유되는 지식유형에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 서비스 기업과 고객기업이 이루는 협업 활동을 의미하는 상호작용성은 세 가지 활동, 지식서비스 표준화, 양방향 학습 그리고 혁신 참여로, 서비스 혁신은 세 가지 서비스 제품 혁신, 프로세스 혁신, 그리고 조직혁신으로 구분하였다. 그 결과, 다양한 상호작용 활동들이 모두 세 가지 유형의 서비스 혁신에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 더 나아가 서비스 기업과 고객이 암묵지 형태의 지식을 공유할 때, 혁신을 더 높일 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 기존과 다른 관점에서 서비스 혁신을 이해하는데 도움을 주고, 지식서비스 기업이 혁신을 이루기 위한 실질적인 방안을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

IT서비스 기업의 창의성 및 지식경영 요인이 경영성과에 미치는 영향 (An Impact on Management Performance by IT Service Firm's Creativity and Knowledge Management Factor)

  • This paper discussed about creativity and knowledge management variables as for effect factors on the management performance of IT service firms. Specially the mediation effects of knowledge management variables between the creativity and management performance were examined. To prove empirically the related hypothesis, the statistical analysis were based on the response from the 160 Korean IT Service firms. As an analysis results, it was found that the creativity of organizations was not the direct effector on the management performance. But the virtue of knowledge which are accumulated from knowledge management activity and shared in organizations was the direct effector. Also, the knowledge management activity is mediator on the in the relationship between the creativity and management performance. So this paper suggests that knowledge management activity and knowledge's virtue in the related the creativity in organizations are the important mediate factors for enhancement of IT service firm's performance.

지식집약서비스 공급업체의 혁신 특성과 전략 (Innovation Features and Strategy of Knowledge Intensive Service Suppliers in Korea)

  • This paper explores the features, patterns and strategies of innovation in knowledge intensive service (KIS) suppliers in Korea. It was found that characteristics of service innovation and manufacturing innovation tend to converge. Also, diverging elements were found particularly in organizational dimension in the innovation of the service sector. Investigation into the case of information and communication technology (ICT) services revealed that KIS suppliers are active in innovation. They obtained ideas required for their innovations from their knowledge activities inside firms and in the process of interaction with user firms. Large KIS suppliers are to a great extent interested in R&D for innovation, while small and medium suppliers are interested in developmental work. Weak knowledge flow was found between KIS suppliers and the public sector like universities and public research institutes.

지식경영이 해운선사의 서비스 역량에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Influence of Shipping Firms' Knowledge Management on their Service Capabilities)

  • 현대 경영학에서 지식은 기업의 경쟁력을 창출할 수 있는 새로운 전략적 자원으로서 인식되고 있다. 치열한 경쟁구도 하에 있는 해운기업 지식경영의 효용성에 주목할 필요가 있다. 해운서비스 네트워크 내외부에서 획득되는 자료와 정보, 지식을 효과적으로 분류, 공유, 이전함으로써 기업특유의 역량을 발전시킬 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구에서는 정기선사의 지식경영이 해운서비스 역량의 강화에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 해운기업의 지식경영의 수준을 측정하기 위해 지식사슬모형을 설계하였으며 국적 및 외국적 선사로부터 수거한 80부의 설문지를 바탕으로 모형의 타당성과 신뢰성을 검증하였다. 실증분석 결과 지식사슬모형을 구성하는 지원활동과 주요활동이 선사의 해운서비스 역량을 강화하는데 유의적인 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 지식경영의 효용성이 해운산업분야에서도 적용될 수 있음을 보여주고 있으며 해운기업들이 지식의 전략적 중요성을 인식하고 전사적 차원에서 지식경영을 추구해야함을 권고하고 있다.

Typology of R&D Service Firms and Customized Policy Suggestions in Korea

  • This paper originates from the questions concerning why Korea has had difficulties in boosting R&D service industries regardless of government efforts over a decade. We first review the intrinsic nature of the R&D services and set up four criteria such as establishment type, diversification of business models, coverage of client firms, and role of R&D service firms as innovation drivers and IP strategies, that will be used in interviewing and analyzing R&D service firms. Second, we carry out in-depth interviews of eighteen R&D service firms to understand business behaviors and relevant characteristics. Finally, we identify five groups of R&D service firms and conclude that differentiated polices have to be implemented according to the groups for promoting the industry effectively.

  • 본 연구에서는 사업서비스 분야 한국내 외국인직접투자가 지역경제에 미치는 영향을 분석하였으며, 특히, 지역네트워크와 지식의 활용이라는 측면에서 파악하였다. 외국인직접투자기업은 한국내 시장확보라는 투자동기에 따라 고객과의 네트워크, 공급 네트워크는 높은 비중을 나타내고 있으나, 상대적으로 산학연계 및 협회, 조합, 정부기관과의 관계는 낮게 나타난다. 한국내 지식이전 및 상호작용도 투자모기업의 정책에 따라 제한적으로 이루어지고 있다. 그러나, 협력관계 및 인력이동 등 장기적으로 볼 때 긍정적인 측면과 가능성도 보이고 있어, 지식활용에 기반한 정책지원 및 활용안을 수립하여 실천한다면, 외국인기업이 충분히 지역내 뿌리내리며, 지역경제에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

소셜 미디어 서비스 산업 후발기업의 Catch-up 전략 사례분석 (A Case Analysis on the Catch-up Strategy of Late-Comer Firms in the Social-Media Service Industry)

  • Recently, emergence of smart-phones and Social Networking Service(SNS) would offer the market environment changes and the opportunities for new business. For the case analysis comprehensive survey were implemented. And those data were analyzed along the research framework. The late-comer firms offered differential services, maintained creative and opened corporate culture, shoed learning capabilities which means absorption and organization of external knowledge, innovative efforts to control the insurgents than early-mover firms. When we analyze these phenomena along the developmental stages of late-comer, we can perceive that the stage of late-comers firms were moving from the "tracing the path" stage to "jumping the path" stage which means the creating capabilities were more or less enhanced and the firms become more stable in terms of business operation. In business model, early-mover firms showed clear definition for each business element, especially the revenue structure, while late-mover firms seemed unstable or unclear revenue structure.
