  • It is well known in KM (Knowledge Management) literature that a certain amount of knowledge is necessary for KM to contribute to corporate performance to some extent. However, for a company to amass knowledge is very difficult due to limited time and poor understandings from employees. Especially, it becomes harder in public organization where simulating financial motif among members is constrained. In this respect, KORAIL, one of typical and leading public organizations in Korea, shows very unique example in which KORAIL succeeds in catalyzing the knowledge circulation process among members, string the resulted working knowledge, and then sharing it to improve working performance at an individual level as well as team level. This KORAIL case will help understand how important the knowledge circulation speed is to improving the corporate performance.

  • Many researchers in the knowledge management area pointed out that leadership is a important factor affected knowledge management. But, research focused on relationship between knowledge management and leadership was very rare. This study analyzes, by qualitative approach of in-depth interviews for employees and CEO of 2 rolled-rated municipalities, relationship between leadership of CEO in local government and knowledge management. The results show that participatory leadership expand opportunity of participation in decision-making of employees in local government, and enable successful knowledge management through free communication among employees. Participatory leadership is positively associated with high levels of employee knowledge management activities. Future research may want to focus on relationship between leadership and knowledge management through a quantitative approach.

  • Thesis is very valuable primary and secondary infomation resource in that it contains systematic research methods, comprehensive and detailed data, and creative research results in specific areas. But thesis has been neglected in many libraries and information centers due to the problems of accessibility and obtainabiliy problems as one of a Grey Literature. As information technology and networks have been developing rapidly, the digitalization of thesis full-text and the possibility of online access arc also increasing. In this study, value and the characteristics of thesis is firstly reviewed. Secondly, by analyzing the current digitalization state of some domestic and foreign universities and institutions, some principles for the effective electronic transmission and effective management of thesis are suggested as one of knowledge management. Furthermore useful information is suggested for the users in terms of the online access and obtainability.

  • The purpose of this research is to explore the possible relationship between the successful implementation of knowledge management technology and specific organizational culture orientations. Data used to test hypothesis derived for this research were obtained from 227 responders from the Organizational Culture Profile (OCP) survey instruments and 67 responders from the Knowledge Management Technology Profile (KMTP) survey instruments representing 26 separate organizations. The OCP provides a profile of an organization's culture orientations while the KMTP provides a profile of the organization's degree of the KM technology implementation success. The results of this research suggests that employees of organization which are more successful in implementing KM technology have identified organizational cultures that embody a healthy mixture of both production-oriented and people-oriented attributes indicative of the culture orientation.

  • Given the large investment and prevalence of knowledge management (KM) in organizations, it has become important to analyze the effects of KM activities on organizational performances. A theoretical framework is proposed to investigate the impact of KM activities on innovation capabilities in the IT service industry. This study considers KM activities as the major determinant that enhances absorptive capacity. KM activities enhance employees'ability to obtain external knowledge, resulting in increasing intellectual capital. Thus, this study proposes that absorptive capacity plays a mediating role between KM activities and innovation capability. Additionally, this study investigates the key antecedents of KM activities that promote employees' knowledge sharing. Based on prior studies on KM, this study posits KM team activities and top manager support as KM activities. The proposed research model was tested by using survey data collected from 556 employees in the IT service industry. PLS (partial least squares) was employed for the analysis of the data. The findings of this study showed that KM activities and absorptive capabilities play a significant role in enhancing service innovation and process innovation in the IT service industry. The results also shed light on the mediating role of absorptive capacity between KM activities and innovation capability. Moreover, both KM team activities and top manager support serve as the salient antecedents of promoting employees' knowledge sharing.

  • As research management is growing in importance for research organizations, their disciplinary structures need to be interpreted. However, it is not only difficult but ambiguous to detect causal relations between subjects because diverse disciplines interacting with each other lead the development of organizational research. Therefore, this article summarizes the major concepts and results recently achieved in the related fields such as research management, bibliographic analysis, information theory, and networks to characterize organizational knowledge structures. Relevant analytical methods obtained from the literature can be applied to empirical situations. Predictive causal relations can be measured using an information theoretic indicator on a series of organizational research portfolios identified from bibliographic information. A network approach would be suitable to manage organizational research effort from a holistic view. Knowledge structures of the Government-funded Research Institutes in Korea are explored experimentally.

  • In the past two decades, there has been an increasing interest in project knowledge management, as knowledge is a crucial resource for project management success. Knowledge capture and sharing are two effective project management practices. Capturing and sharing project knowledge has become more efficient due to technological advances. Nevertheless, present technologies face several technical, functional, and usage obstacles and constraints. Thus, Blockchain technology might provide promising answers, yet, there is still a dearth of understanding regarding the technology's proper and practical application. Consequently, the goal of this study was to fill the gap in the literature about the adoption of Blockchain technology and to investigate the project stakeholders' acceptance and willingness to utilize the technology for capturing and sharing project knowledge. Due to this inquiry's exploratory and inductive characteristics, qualitative research methodology was used, namely the Grounded Theory research approach. Accordingly, eighteen in-depth, semi-structured interviews were conducted to collect the data. Concurrent data collection and analysis were undertaken, with findings emerging after three coding steps. Four influencing factors and one moderating factor were identified as affecting users' acceptance of Blockchain technology for capturing and sharing project knowledge. Consequently, the results of the study aimed to fill a gap in the existing literature by undertaking a comprehensive analysis of the unrealized potential of Blockchain technology to improve knowledge capture and sharing in the project management environment.

  • The Korean government has been trying to create new economic value-added and jobs by the openness and utilization of open government data. However, most of open government data has poor utilization rate. Although open government data standardization is a major cause of those inactivation, it is not sufficient to conduct empirical research on open government data itself. Based on this trend, this paper aims to find the priority area for opening data and suggests a realistic directions of standardization of open government data. Text mining and social network analysis approaches are used to analyze open government data and standardization. This research suggests the guides to open government data managers in practical view from selection of data to standardization direction. In addition, this research has academic implications to the knowledge management systems in terms of suggesting standardization direction by using various techniques.
