Understanding Knowledge Sharing in Virtual Communities through Knowledge Seeking Behavior (가상공동체에서 지식탐색을 통한 지식공유에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigated knowledge browsing behavior as the factor affecting the increase of knowledge sharing intention. To conduct this study in the specific context of knowledge seeking and sharing behavior of virtual community members, literature on knowledge seeking behavior, meta-knowledge, and knowledge sharing intention was reviewed. Structural Equation Modeling was conducted to analyze survey data to test the research model of this study. The result showed that knowledge browsing have positive effects on creating of virtual community members' subject knowledge and meta-knowledge, which, in turn, affected positively their knowledge sharing intention. One of the main contributions of this study is that knowledge seeking behavior influence one's knowledge sharing intention in a virtual community. Organization managers should consider knowledge seeking behavior as not only a self-interested, consuming activity, but also a productive one through its function of constructing subject knowledge and meta-knowledge.

  • A firm is very difficult to find sustainable competitive weapons due to global competition and rapid changes in business environments. As a sequence, an increasing number of organizations are focusing their attention on utilizing knowledge management which can effectively disperse, share, and create information and knowledge. Therefore, this study is purposed to investigate success factors of knowledge management through AHP techniques, to analyze the relative importance among success factors, and to contribute to the organizations which have a plan to introduce KMS by providing theoretical background.

  • A number of studies for corporate bond rating classification problems have demonstrated that artificial intelligence approaches such as Case-based reasoning (CBR) can be alternative methodologies to statistical techniques. CBR is a problem solving technique in that the case specific knowledge of past experience is utilized to find a most similar solution to the new problems. To build a successful CBR system to deal with human information processing, the representation of knowledge of each attribute is an important key factor We propose a hybrid approach of using fuzzy sets that describe the approximate phenomena of the real world because it handles inexact knowledge represented by common linguistic terms in a similar way as human reasoning compared to the other existing techniques. Integration of fuzzy sets with CBR is important to develop effective methods for dealing with vague and incomplete knowledge to statistical represent using membership value of fuzzy sets in CBR.

Does Knowledge-sharing Intent Matter in the Use of Knowledge Management Systems? (지식공유 의도와 지식관리시스템의 사용)

  • One of the major goals of using knowledge management systems(KMS) is the sharing of knowledge. The intent of an individual to share his/her knowledge plays a crucial role in sharing quality knowledge in corporations. However, there is little research that addresses this relationship between the intent to share and the use of KMS both from a holistic perspective and with empirical data analyses. To understand major factors that affect both knowledge sharing intent and the use of KMS, we conducted a field study from eight companies in four different industries which had been using KMS for at least a year. Using confirmatory factor analysis and structured equation modeling techniques, we have analyzed the relationships among top management support, trust among peers, trust in the organizational hierarchy, incentives and rewards, knowledge-sharing intent, KMS quality, knowledge quality, and the use of KMS. The research results show that top management support and trust between peers enhance the intent of sharing knowledge. We also found that top management support, knowledge-sharing intent, incentives and rewards, and the quality of knowledge have positive relationships with the use of KMS.

Knowledge Base Associated with Autism Construction Using CRFs Learning

  • Knowledge base means a library stored in computer system providing useful information or appropriate solutions to specific area. Knowledge base associated with autism is the complex multidimensional information set related to the disease autism for its pathogenic factor and therapy. This paper focuses on the knowledge of biological molecular information extracted from massive biomedical texts with the aid of widespread used machine learning methods. Six classes of biological molecular information (such as protein, DNA, RNA, cell line, cell component, and cell type) are concerned and the probability statistics method, conditional random fields (CRFs), is utilized to discover these knowledges in this work. The knowledge base can help biologists to etiological analysis and pharmacists to drug development, which can at least answer four questions in question-answering (QA) system, i.e., which proteins are most related to the disease autism, which DNAs play important role to the development of autism, which cell types have the correlation to autism and which cell components participate the process to autism.   • Recently, the popularity of smartphones has led to a dramatic increase in the frequency of use of App(Application) services. LBS (Location-Based Service) App service adopts various methods such as push marketing and useful information by region through providing location-based service based on the location of the consumer. In particular, an enterprise or an App management company can provide necessary information to the consumer through the necessary information among the customer related knowledge information obtained by utilizing the location information of the consumer in real time. Nevertheless, since LBS is a service that can be performed only when the company obtains consent to provide location information voluntarily by the consumer, there is a case of privacy infringement due to consumers' use of personal information. The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of privacy related variables and the knowledge structure for consumer value formation based on the theory of privacy calculation. We also compared the characteristics of Korea with those of China in privacy issue. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that factors such as information utilization ability and information control ability were influential as a key factor of privacy calculation. In addition, perceived value influences the reputation of the LBS App service.

A Study on the Factors Influencing the Knowledge Sharing in Foodservice Enterprise (외식기업의 지식공유 영향요인에 관한 연구)

  • Nowadays, a knowledge management becomes more important as it recognizes and utilizes a industrial knowledge as a significant sources for the improvement of enterprise competitiveness. Moreover, a industrial value tends to be evaluated by a knowledge value. In this study, influencing factors (processes, compensation system, leadership and information technology) on the knowledge sharing for strategies in foodservice Enterprise were investigated. For processes, it was important that the sharing and collecting factors for restaurants in hotel, the knowledge sharing and collecting for family-restaurants, the knowledge utilization and collecting for fast-food restaurants and the knowledge utilization and sharing for special restaurants. In compensation system, both mental and physical compensation were not related with the knowledge sharing in hotel-restaurants. On the other hands, the knowledge sharing in family-restaurants, fast-food restaurants and special restaurants was highly affected by the mental compensation, which indicated that food-service. Enterprise should lay emphasis on mental compensation than physical compensation. In industrial cultures, the influencing factors on the knowledge sharing were rational culture and progressive culture for restaurants in hotel and fast-food restaurants, and for special restaurants and family- restaurants, respectively. The ordering leadership was important factor for restaurants in hotel, fast-food restaurants and family-restaurants, while the knowledge sharing in special restaurants was more influenced by the supporting leadership. For information technology, it was important that the information utilization for restaurants in hotel, special restaurants and fast-food restaurants, and both information utilization and ability for family-restaurants.

  • Consumer knowledge has been discussed as an important concept to understand information processing such as information search and evaluation process. It has been defined as the amounts and contents of information in consumer's memory accumulated by experiences. According to literature review, experts who have much knowledge are likely to retrieve their information related to products for a purchase efficiency. Therefore, they are likely to simplify the information processing for a choice. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between clothing product knowledge and evaluative criteria for a purchase. The results were as follows; First, it was found out that evaluative criteria were composed of four dimensions such as the management, the esthetic, the fitness and the brand. Therefore, it is implied that evaluative criteria for purchasing clothing products were multidimensional. Second, the level of objective knowledge was low, and consumers perceived that they didn't have much knowledge related with clothing products. Also, the relationships between objective and subjective knowledge were positive but low. Third, the evaluative criteria were effected by the level of consumer's knowledge significantly. In subjective knowledge, the subjects in a high group considered all criteria more deeply than in a low group. But there was a significant difference only in the esthetic between two groups in objective knowledge. The results of this study imply that consumer knowledge may influence evaluation process. Knowledgeable consumer would consider product attributes deeply for evaluating clothing products, and especially, the esthetic would be an important factor as an attribute including the instrumental and expressive functions in a purchase phase. Therefore, consumer knowl- edge would be a basis of predicting expert's information processing and managing heavy buyer or loyal consumers in apparel industry.

The Effects of Knowledge Sharing, Interdependence, Mutual Benefit Sharing on Franchise Information System Performance (지식공유, 상호의존, 상호이익공유가 프랜차이즈 정보시스템 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently, an effective building and utilization of information system are essential in franchise firms as well as corporate management. Accordingly, this study is to examine the structural relationships among partnership quality of supplier, trust with a supplier and commitment, and franchise information system performance based on Henderson's(1990) information system partnership model and Lee and Kim's(1999) partnership model. For these purposes, the authors developed several hypotheses. The data were collected from 173 franchisors and analyzed with SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 The results are as following. First, sharing knowledge, interdependence, and mutual benefit influence supplier trust, but do not influence commitment. Second, supplier trust affect commitment and it prove that supplier trust is a full mediating role between partnership quality and commitment of franchise and information system supplier. Third, both supplier trust and commitment have a positive effect on performance of franchise information system. Therefore, it implies that supplier trust is significant factor in an performance of franchise information system. At the end of this paper, managerial and theoretical implications, limitations and future research directions were suggested.

A Study on the Development of User Experience Indicators for The Knowledge and Information Resource System (지식정보자원시스템 이용자 경험 지표개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study describes a set of user experience indicators developed for the evaluation of knowledge and information resource systems. The user experience perspectives had emerged as a new analysis standard in the field of information media and information service research. The study included a survey conducted to verify the derived experience factors and developed them as indicators. The survey data was gathered from 158 participants in the preliminary and 480 participants in the main study. The applied analysis techniques were descriptive statistics, the exploratory factor analysis, the confirmatory factor analysis, the correlation analysis, and the path analysis. The results introduced seven user experience factors, 37 detailed user experience factors, and 105 system perception factors as the final user experience indicators. The developed and verified indicators should measure the degree of user experience perceived by users of the knowledge and information resource system and conduct effective evaluations that reflect correlation rather than a simple comparison of each experience factor.
