This study introduces the development of elementary science textbooks in Korea. In Korea there has been eight revisions to the National curriculum and the development of nine textbooks. The State of Korea has organized textbook development teams, but this time the State chose the development team through public contest. Researchers suggested the 'FLOW' development model based upon results of studies in creative education and developed the new science textbooks. The 'FLOW' model includes four stages, aimed towards capturing students' interest in science (Fun Science), engaging students in various scientific inquiries and experiences (Lab. Experience), organizing their own knowledge of science (Organizing Knowledge), and to encourage students to become little scientists (Willing to be a Scientist). The textbook is a research-developmental textbook that utilizes various literature and exploration-strategic textbooks. The textbook's basis is formed upon scientists' experiences that assist in the realization of 'inquiry' that is emphasized within the science field.
Purpose This study empirically investigated the impact of information technology(IT) capability on the co-innovation with suppliers and the effects of the co-innovation with suppliers on the product and process innovations in manufacturing firms. Design/methodology/approach The empirical data were collected through post-survey. 97 valid survey data were finally collected. With a multiple-regression analysis, we confirmed the influence relationships among critical variables. Findings In the empirical results, it was found that IT integration positively and significantly influences the amount of inter-organizational information exchange with suppliers. The results showed that the inter-organizational information flow with suppliers has a positive and significant impact on the inter-organizational learning with suppliers. It was also observed that the inter-organizational learning with suppliers facilitates and promotes the co-innovation with suppliers. From these results, it is concluded that the co-innovation with suppliers is activated through the knowledge transfer or sharing caused by an inter-organizational information flow or learning. Finally, the positive effects of the co-innovation with suppliers on the product and process innovations were empirically confirmed. Thus, it is suggested that IT capability influences innovations through the co-innovation with suppliers caused by an inter-organizational information flow.

Utilizing construction knowledge and experiences in design phase can reduce change orders and improve productivity in construction phase. To do so, information must be made available to the design team in time. Current approaches for effective utilization of constructability knowledge, however, only focus on the formalization of constructability knowledge such as a checklist, which lacks the consideration of the appropriate use at the proper point in time. The inadequate use of constructability knowledge can result in unnecessary reworks. To deal with this problem, the design team needs to know what constructability knowledge is required for specific design activities in the design process. This paper presents a constructability implementation model using the dependency structure matrix (DSM) that focuses on information flows between design activities and constructability knowledge. For this objective, design activities in the design process are modeled in a matrix form based on their dependency. Then, constructability knowledge, which needs to be considered in the design stage, is mapped into activities and incorporated into the matrix, creating Constructability-DSM (C-DSM). Next, the partitioning algorithm is applied to C-DSM for optimal information flow. The Partitioned C-DSM is then analyzed based on the relationship between activities. Finally, the optimal utilization of construction knowledge in the design process is determined by identifying what constructability knowledge is required for each design activity, and how and when it is reflected to design for constructability. Thus, this research can help provide robust control actions to reduce unnecessary iterative cycles in design process for efficient constructability implementation.
Flow control range of valve, which is installed on pipeline, varies according to valve type, pipe diameter, pipe length, roughness, and elevation difference of both ends of pipeline. A lot of computation efforts and knowledge are needed to estimate flow control range of valve, considering above many parameters. The table of flow control range of each valve type is presented for convenience of pipeline design engineers who must make decision of valve size and type in this study. Also the reason that butterfly valve is recommended for flow control, and gate valve is forbidden is presented via quantification and figures in this study.
The present study investigates flow characteristics in an optical disc drive. Detailed knowledge of the flow characteristics is essential to analyze flow-induced noise and vibration, forced convection and flow friction loss. The ODD used in the personal computer is used for the experiment and rotating velocity of disc is under the 4500 rpm. Time-resolved velocity components and velocity spectrum are obtained using the laser Doppler anemometry (LDA). The results show that the front holes reduce now-induced noise and the position of pickup body affects flow near the window. In addition, il is possible for cooling of heat sources in an optical disc drive through measuring the flow fields under the tray.
