  • The purpose of this study is to examine the nutrition knowledge, characteristics related to, nutrient intakes, anthropometrics, biochemical indices of university female students by major (food and nutrition versus physical science). Data were taken from 120 university female students (60 from each major) and the results follows. The mean age of the subjects was 19.6 years old. Most of subjects responded that they were healthy; subjects majoring in physical science scored higher in regular exercise (p < 0.01) and were more satisfied with their own body figures (p < 0.01), compared with the counterparts. The total nutrition knowledge score was $81.01{\pm}12.3$ for food and nutrition majors and $72.5{\pm}15.2$ points for physical science majors. (p < 0.01) The percentages of body fat were significantly higher in the food and nutrition students than the counterparts. (p < 0.001) The result of biochemical analysis showed that both groups were in normal range. But there was some statistically significant difference between groups in GTP, HDL-cholesterol and ALP levels. It suggests that regular exercise might have a positive effect on the body. This study showed that although both groups had different knowledge of nutrition, there was not much difference in the intakes of nutrients. But especially, the intakes of calcium and iron were quite low in both groups. Subjects majoring in Physical science had more lipid intake, but they had lower body fat. This suggests that regular exercise in this group might have effects on the percentages of body fat. In future study, nutrition education might be planned to increase nutrition knowledge and to connect nutrition knowledge to eating behaviors and to promote health to regular exercise. Also, the desire and the social perception for pursuing alean body figure and being underweight should be changed for optimal health.

  • In order to investigate the knowledge and awareness of radon among public health students, this survey was conducted on second-year health students at three-year universities in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions and the results were analyzed. As a result of this study, firstly, the scores of radon knowledge according to gender were found to be high in men and radiologists, but there was no statistical difference. Second, as a result of the radon awareness survey, the radiology department students had the highest awareness, showing a statistically significant difference. Third, as a result of correlation analysis, the result was that the higher the knowledge about radon, the higher the awareness. Public health students are students who will be working to improve public health after graduation, so increasing their knowledge of radon will help improve public health. Therefore, it is believed that providing education about radon through the curriculum will be helpful in cultivating radon knowledge.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a mobile-based breastfeeding promotion program (M-BFGDM) that helps mothers with gestational diabetes. Methods: Forty-seven mothers participated in the study, of whom 22 were in the experimental group and 25 in the control group. To verify the effects, a lag design before and after the non-equivalence control group was used. The data collection for the experimental group was done before and after the intervention. Results: In the results, breastfeeding knowledge showed a significant difference in the interaction between measurement period and group (χ2 = 8.14, p = .017), whereas breastfeeding intention did not show a significant difference in the interaction (χ2 = 4.73, p = .094). There was no difference in self-efficacy interaction (F = 0.13, p = .856). The breastfeeding method showed no difference in interaction (F = 0.04, p = .952), whereas cross-analysis showed a significant difference in breastfeeding practice rate between the experimental group and the control group at 1 month postpartum (χ2 = 7.59, p = .006). Conclusion: A mobile-based breastfeeding promotion program was developed and applied for gestational diabetic mothers, resulting in an increase in breastfeeding knowledge and an improvement in breastfeeding practice rate one month after childbirth. In addition, M-BFGDM managed to create a breastfeeding practice environment with fewer time and place restrictions. A program study that complements motivation is needed to improve breastfeeding in pregnant diabetic mothers in the future.

  • Employing financial knowledge, financial attitude, and financial action as the proxy for financial capability, we investigates whether there is any mean-difference by gender and marriage. The estimation results are as follows: first, the married women have the lowest financial knowledge among four groups especially in general financial knowledge. Second, there is the mean-difference between married women and the other groups in investment horizon and self-assessment for investment ability. Third, the fund performance of married women is the lowest compared with the other groups. The findings imply that the financial capability of married women is the lowest among four groups.

Methods: A survey was conducted in this study on 745 students from 12 middle schools in the Y City. Data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 12.0 using descriptive statistics, t?test, ANCOVA, Scheffe's test and multiple regression analysis. Results: There was statistically significant difference in knowledge about the harmfulness of smoking (F=2.88, p<.05) and attitude toward smoking (F=54.61, p<.001). And there was statistically significant difference in smoking temptations among tempting factors such as negative mood of individual (F=63.61, p<.001), positive mood of social situation (F=67.08, p<.001), habitualness (F=57.68, p<.001), weight control (F=33.01, p<.001), and others' smoking (F=73.13, p<.001). Conclusion: These results suggest that smoking?cessation programs to enhance the effectiveness of nursing interventions should be tailored to the level of smoking temptation and that educational programs should be developed for middle school students.

Results: Comparison between the experimental and control group showed no significant difference in delivery-nursing knowledge (t=-0.33, p=.741) or self-efficacy (t=-0.65, p=.515). However, a significant difference (t=-2.09, p=.048) in the nursing-skills aspect of clinical competence was found between the experimental and control groups after the practical simulation education. Conclusion: Delivery-nursing simulation education using team-based learning was more effective in improving the nursing-skills aspect of nursing competence than was delivery-nursing simulation education based on individual learning.
