양버즘나무의 소재(素材) 및 집성곡목제조(集成曲木製造)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)(I) - 증자(蒸煮)에 의한 소재(素材)휨가공성(加工性) - (Study on the Solid and Laminated Wood Bending of Platanus occidentalis L.(I) - Solid Wood-bending Properties by Steaming -)

  • The plane trees(Platanus occidentalis L.) have been grown in Korea very widely as ornamental garden or street trees but they have not been used as manufacturing materials The proportion of imported wood has been now over 85% of raw materials needed in the wood industry, and therefore, many of studies on the substitution of domestic wood for imported wood and on the increasing the utilization rate of domestic species have been attempted and considered as very important projects to solve. From a this point of view, this study was carried out to investigate solid wood bending properties of plane trees and then to develop their end-uses, and the size of specimens tested was $15\times15\times350mm$ for steaming treatment and they were dried to $15\pm1%$ before bending. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The optimum conditions for solid wood bending processing of Platanus occidentalis are showed in Table 7. 2. The minimum solid-bending radii of Platanus occidentalis were 40mm in steaming treatment. 3. The effect of knots, diagonal grain and decay on the degradation of bending processing properties were very severe. 4. The bending stress was setted successfully through $80^{\circ}C$-15hrs drying after bending and the spring back for 24hr-exposing time was only about 1%.

  • 황철나무와 양황철나무는 전형적인 다습심재(wetwood)로써, 심재 전체가 변재보다 높은 함수유를 나타냈다. 황철나무와 양황철나무의 목부중에 존재하는 결정은 주로 심재중에서도 일부연룬을 따라 또는 착색얼룩을 따라 또는 국소에 집중하여, 수에 가까울수록 많았다. 또한 1연륜 내에서는 만재보다 조재에 많은 경향이 있었다. 심재에서의 결정은 전 종류의 세포에 존재하였으나, 대부분의 결정은 도관과 섬유상가도관에 존재하였다. 수피중에 있는 결정은 내수피에서 외수피까지 비교적 산재하여 존재했다. 양황철나무에서는 잎옹이의 출현빈도가 높았으나 황철나무에서는 그 출현 빈도가 낮았다.

Evaluation of Bonding Strength of Larch Cross-Laminated Timber

  • The delamination along the annual ring on the cross-section of laminae and the bonding strength according to the tangential angle between laminae were evaluated for the production of 3-ply cross-laminated timber (CLT) using domestic larch. Since there is no standard for CLT in Korea, the production and test of specimens for bonding strength followed the standard procedure of "Structural glued laminated timber" (KS F 3021). The standard specifies to exclude any measurement from the cracks of timbers resulted from drying or knots during delamination test of the glued laminated timbers. However, the failure of cross-sectional tissues along the annual rings was observed near the glue-line of all specimens during the delamination test. Because this phenomenon can generate defects in the CLT that may be exposed to various temperatures and relative humidities after the actual construction, the delamination percentage was measured by including this wood failure. As a result, the delamination percentage of the CLT which had been combined in such a way that the annual rings of outer lamina were directed inward was the lowest, which was around 13%, regardless of the annual ring direction of the middle lamina. On the other hand, the delamination percentage of the CLT which had been combined in such a way that the annual rings of outer lamina were directed outward was the highest, which was around 26%. Furthermore, end-split occurred in the outer lamina during the drying process of the boiling delamination test, which affected the delamination percentage. Therefore, the soaking delamination test was found to be more appropriate for evaluating the delamination strength of CLT. The block shear strength of larch CLT was $3.9{\pm}0.9$ MPa on average, which was 46% lower than the block shear strength requirement (7.1 MPa) of the standard, but satisfied the criteria of the block shear strength (3.5 MPa) of the European Standard (prEN 16351: 2013).

  • 해저의 초음파산란층특성을 정량적으로 검토하기 위한 기초적 연구로서 선체의 동요로 인한 해저 Echo 신호의 파형과 진폭의 변동특성에 관하여 검토를 행한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. (1) 해저 Echo 신호의 진폭은 1차 산란신호의 경우가 2차 산란신호보다 매우 불규칙하게 변동하였으나, 신호파형의 등가 Pulse 폭은 2차 산란신호가 1차 산란신호보다 약 2.4배 신장되어 수신되었다. (2) 해저산란파의 Echo Energy 변동은 Peak 진폭의 변동보다 매우 완만하고, 또 선체가 일정 경사각 범위 내에서 불규칙적으로 동요하는 경우, 선체동요에 기인하는 해저 Echo 진폭의 변동성분은 선체경사가 없는 경우에 대한 진폭성분과 서로 분리되어 나타났다. (3) 저질이 모래펄(MS)인 해저의 평균 Energy 산란강도는 -13.4 dB로서 평균 Peak 산란강도 -14.6 dB보다 1.2 dB 큰 값을 나타내었다.

한국 동해 연안어장의 부유성 폐기물 분포와 조성 (Distribution and Composition of Floating Debris in the East Coast of Korea)

  • Floating debris was recorded from a training ship, #1 Kwanaksan, of Pukyong National University with about 10 knots speed during August 19~26, 1996. The area sampled is the East Coast of Korea, divided into 33 unit segments on survey routes. Debris fabrication materials were categorized using the following; man-made or natural wood items, paper, cardboard, nylon rope, netting, styrofoam and plastics, floating metal and glass containers. All identified items within a $100{\pm}2m$ wide band were recorded but ignored if beyond this boundary. The results of distribution and composition of floating debris in the area are as follows: 1. The quantities of debris during the summer were distributed from 1.8~52 items per $km^2$. The most obvious trend is the widespread distribution of all debris. 2. The highest densities of all debris were discovered in the vicinity of Pusan and ills an area. Especially styrofoam & plastics were observed in 81% of sampled area, next is wood items, 9.1%. Nylon netting & rope was the least widespread pollutant. 3. The relationship between distribution of debris and surface currents of the area was not apparently revealed through this survey. Further surveys are being instigated, and from this it is hoped that a much wider coverage can be achived, perhaps on all sites of Southern and Western sea of Korea and contributed to the finding of sources,stationary area of debris.

3층구조 외해역에서의 취역류 연식모드 결정기법 (Determination of Vertical Mode in a Three-layered Open Sea)

  • 3층 구조를 갖는 대륙붕 외해역에서의 취역류 예측을 위한 Galerkin 해를 Eigenfunction 전개를 통해 유도하였다. 수심변화를 결정짖는 연식난류확산 계수가 층간에 불연속적으로 변화토록 정의되므로 내적분 정의시 층별적분이 등장한다. Eigenfunction 및 Eigenvalue 산출을 위해 B-spline 함수전개가 이용되는데 정확한 계산을 위해서는 난류활동이 극도로 저하되는 Pycnocline 내에 많은 Knot들을 배정함이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 비록 Eigenfunction이 층간에 급격한 변화를 가지나 여전히 해수표면부터 해저편간의 전 구간에 걸쳐 정의되는 연속함수이므로 Gibbs 효과에 따른 해의 진동현상이 표층하, 특히 Pycnocline 내에서 출현하였다.

오징어 채낚기 어선의 추진기 개선을 통한 성능향상 (Improving of propulsion performance of 24 ton class squid jigging vessel)

  • In this study, a new designed propeller was applied on 24 ton class squid jigging vessel to reduce of fuel consumption. The selected squid jigging boat was under construction at the shipyard to determine the resistance of the hull through the model experiment. The propeller design was carried out by using the experimental data and ITTC procedures. Sea trials were performed by measuring the speed and the horsepower required by the condition of five power levels of engine load, namely 70%, 80%, 90%, MCR and maximum engine power. The speed and delivered horse power were compared between the conventional propeller and the new design propeller. Delivered horse power by installing the new propeller takes 90% engine load at start-up conducted by decreased 9.06%. The measuring speed is increased up to the 0.6 knots in the low-speed range to high range. This study showed that only the design and installation of a new propeller can improve the propulsion efficiency of the boats; furthermore, reduce fuel costs can be achieved at the same time by improving the increased cruising speed.

금령(金嶺) 및 기구광상(基邱鑛床)의 동광화작용(銅鑛化作用) (The Copper Mineralization of the Keumryeong and Kigu Ore Deposits)

  • The Keumryeong deposits is a low grade copper deposits in which copper minerals form disseminated grains and thin veinlets in felsic volcanics seem to be dacite. Alteration of the volcanics consists mainly pervasive propylitization and silicification. Potassic alteration characterized by biotite developed locally adjacent to southwestern contact of granodiorite body. Principal sulfide minerals in altered zone are mainly pyrite and lesser chalcopyrite. Chalcopyrite content in potassic zone is relatively higher than that of surrounding propylitized zone. Pyrite and chalcopyrite accompanies magnetite, molybdenite, sphalerite, pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite, pentlandite, marcasite, hematite, ilmenite, rutile, bismuthinite and native Bi as disseminations, veinlets and knots. Granodiorite body is propylitized and contains veinlets of pyrite, chalcopyrite and molybdenite. Fluid inclusions in sulfide-bearing quartz veinlets and quartz grains of felsic volcanics and granodiorite in altered zone consist of liquid-rich, vapor-rich, $CO_2-bearing$ and halite-bearing inclusions. These four types of inclusion intimately associated on a microscopic scale and indicate condensing or boiling of ore fluid during mineralization. Homogenization temperature of coexisting fluid inclusions are mostly in the range of 350 to $450^{\circ}C$. High salinity fluid contains 28.6 to 48.4 weight percent NaCI equivalent and moderate salinity fluid cotains 0.5 to 12.5 weight percent NaCl equivalent. Pressure estimated from $CO_2$ mole fraction of $CO_2-bearing$ inclusion range 160 to 375 bars. The Kigu copper deposits is a fissure filling copper vein developed 500 m south from the Keumryong deposits. Mineralogy and fluid inclusion data of the Kigu deposits are similar to that of the Keumryeong deposits. Homogenization temperature of fluid inclusions from the Kigu deposits are reasonable agreement with temperature estimated from sulfidation curve of cubanite-chalcopyrite-pyrite-pyrrhotite and pyrite-pyrrhotite mineral assemblages. Not only mineral occurrence and wall rock alteration in the Keumryeong deposits but also fluid inclusion data such as temperature, salinity, pressure and boiling evidences are similar to those of porphyry copper deposits.

  • We describe a secure and easy-to-tie knot with a lag bight, the SP knot. An optimal sliding knot is required to be a low-profile, easy to throw, slide well, and provide a good initial security. The SP knot easily slides and sets while avoiding premature locking during sliding. While maintaining tension on the post limb with a knot pusher, pulling the loop limb makes it to flip and distort post limb, resulting in creation of a snug knot on the exact location with desired tension. The SP knot has one knot configuration before pulling the loop limb, but it converts to two knots after pulling the loop limb, one half-hitch and one 'clove hitch', which could provide enough loop security before any additional half-hitches. The configuration of the completed SP knot is formed lying along the loop of the knot, rather than stacking up, which enables a very low profile. The SP knot has various characteristics of the optimal arthroscopic slip knot and may be a useful tool for successful arthroscopic surgery.

대서양 아프리카 연안 트로올의 예망속도와 끌줄의 장력에 관하여 (On The Towing Speed and Warp Tension of the Stern Trawler in the Atlantic Coast of Africa)

  • 대서양(大西洋) Africa 연안어장(沿岸漁場)에서 조업중(操業中)인 태창수산(太倉水産) 소속(所屬) Stern trawl 선(船) No. 85 PARTO(499S)에서 사용(使用)하고 있는 PT-4 형(型) 어구(漁具)의 조정한계(調整限界) 및 적정(適正)한 예망속도(曳網速度)와 주기(主機)의 운전상태(運轉狀態)를 판단(判斷)하기 위(爲)하여 warp에 작용(作用)하는 장력(張力)을 측정(測定)한 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 어구조정(漁具調整)의 한계(限界)는 warp에 작용(作用)하는 장력(張力)의 크기가 약(約) 7,500kg, 강약(强弱)의 범위(範圍)가 약(約) 1,000kg을 초과(超過)하지 않는 것이 효과적으로 판단(判斷)했다. 2. 예망속도(曳網速度)는 주기(主機)의 효과적인 운전상태(運轉狀態)와 어획성능(漁獲性能)을 고려(考慮)하여 $3.6{\sim}4.0$ knot로 판단(判斷)했다. 3. 주기(主機)의 운전상태(運轉狀態)는 유량소모(油量消耗)가 급증(急增)하는 r. p. m. 290, propeller pitch 각도(角度) 13.8를 초과(超過)하지 아니하고 $13.5^{\circ}{\sim}13.8^{\circ}$를 사용(使用)하는 것이 효과적으로 판단(判斷)했다.
