Purpose : In the treatment of MRSA infection, rapid detection of MRSA is extremely important. The mecA gene codes the new drug resistant polypeptides called PBP2' which mediates the clinically relevant resistance to all beta-lactam antibiotics. The identical mecA gene has been found in coagulase-negative staphylococcus with the methicillin-resistant phenotype. On the other hand, the femA gene was absent from coagulase negative staphylococcus strains with the methicillin resistant phenotype. This study is aimed at early detection and definite diagnosis of MRSA. Methods : A total of 24 MRSA strains were studied. All strains were tested for antimicrobial susceptibility and purified DNA. We amplified both mecA and femA genes by PCR in 24 strains. Results : In MRSA all the 16 strains (100%) carried femA gene and 11 strains (68.7%) carried mecA gene. In contrast, in methicillin sensitive staphylococcus all the 8 strains (100%) carried femA and only 3 strains (37.5%) were detected mecA. Conclusions : As results, there are difference in the phenotype and genotype of methicillin resistance by PCR of mecA and femA. Such disparities between methicillin resistance and the presence of mecA gene suggest the presence of control gene of the mecA.

This is an attempt to analyze original films of ChunHyang Jun that Shin Sang-Ok filmed in North and South Korea, focusing on the character of MongYong. These films were made during political transition periods of North and South Korea. Sung ChunHyang was made during the second republic of South Korea, which was established after the collapse of Rhee SyngMan government; and Love, Love, My Love was made in North Korea during the period of power transfer from Kim Il-Sung to Kim Jong-Un. Considering these political changes, the character of MongYong seems to represent the figure of authority North and South Korean society of the time had in mind. First, MongYong in Sung ChunHyang has a strong image of a lover who repays ChunHyang's devotion and sacrifice with romantic affection. As an authoritative figure, he has the aspect of a democratic leader or mediator. On the other hand, MongYong's image in Love, Love, My Love is a heroic authority figure of the revolutionary class. He is a subversive reformer who shows love for the people and treats them favorably, gaining public desire. This research is expected to inspire more studies on the meanings of hit movies based on classic literature under synchronic terms.

MediaGIS is a concept of tightly integrated multimedia with spatial information. VideoGIS is an example of MediaGIS focused on the interaction or interaction of video and spatial information. Our suggested GeoVideo, a new concept of VideoGIS has its key feature in interactiveness. In GeoVideo, the geographic tasks such as browsing, searching, querying, spatial analysis can be performed based on video itself. GeoVideo can have the meaning of paradigm shift from artificial, static, abstracted and graphical paradigm to natural, dynamic, real, and image-based paradigm. We discuss about the integration of video and geography and also suggest the GeoVideo system design. Several considerations on expanding the functionalities of GeoVideo are explained for the future works.

The increase of fault current due to larger power demand has caused the capacity of power machines in grid to increase. To protect the power system effectively from the increased fault current, the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) have proposed one of several countermeasures. Therefore, to introduce SFCL into power distribution system, the position of SFCL in power distribution system is selected among some cases. Each position changes fault current limiting characteristics and SFCL's requirement. In this paper, the characteristics of limiting fault current according to installed SFCL's location in power distribution system.

Various types of switching inverters such as a full-bridge, a half bridge, a push-pull, and a multi-vibrator, are introduced for multi-lamps backlighting with EEFLs and CCFLs. Synchronizing the phase between voltage and current waves, a high luminance and a high efficiency have been achieved.

Recently, the electromagnetic proportional valve has been widely used in order to control pressure and flow in such systems as NC machine and automatic facility. The linear electromagnetic solenoid used for proportional control valve ought to have hysteresis characteristic because of control the thrust force proportionably by input current. Therefore, in this study, we analysis the thrust force characteristics and established design for practical use, which allows Linear Pulse Motor(LPM) to be used as a driving system for electromagnetic proportional control valves.

Because of linear operation by direct drive and compact system, and the free accumulation of position error, LPM is suitable for proportional control valves actuator. In this study, to develop electromagnetic proportional valves actuator we designed tooth shape of double sides LPM and suggested the driving principle based upon the excitation method, It's the magnetic structure is so complex by the cubic effect configuration that finite element analysis is required. By the 3D finite element analysis, we got the magnetic distribution of LPM and analyzed static thrust force characteristics. By this analyzation, we obtained basic data required for the practical use of driving system for the proportional control valves. Thus, considering electrical and mechanical constants we could design and manufacture double sides LPM for the proportional control valves.

In the present work, 70 extracts from 23 plants have been determined to induce cytotoxic and antiviral activities of macrophages using both MTT assay and neutral red dye uptake assay. We show that 13 extracts have induced cytotoxic activities and 5 extracts induced antiviral activity in mouse peritoneal macrophages. Among 13 extracts, macrophages treated with extracts from Salvia plebeia have demonstrated significant cytotoxicity but not antiviral activity. The present findings indicate that extracts from plants can stimulate macrophages to become resistant to virus and to kill tumor cells.

Hydrogen peroxide is one of major chemicals mediating antitumor and antimicrobial activities of macrophages. We searched natural products enhancing hydrogen peroxide generation from murine macrophage-like cell line J774. Among 21 methanol extracts of Korean medicinal plants, the extract from Cornus officinalis was the most effective. The active component from the fractions was searched by activity guided fractionation, and identified as ursolic acid by spectral data.

A new silkworm variety SooOkJam for spring rearing season is F1 hybrid between Jam157, a japanese race bred from introduction breeding and Jam158, a chinese race from introduction breeding. In the local adaptability test performed at 8 local areas in spring of 2011, the hatchability rate of SooOkJam was recorded 2% higher than the authorized silkworm variety, DaePoongJam. The larval period was recorded 12 hour shorter than DaePoongJam. The pupation percentage was recorded 0.8% higher than DaePoongJam. Single cocoon weight (2.40 g), Cocoon yield (22.6 kg) and best cocoon rate (95.5%) was similar to DaePoongJam. The concentration of DNJ was measured 4.12 mg in SooOkJam, lower than DaePoongJam (4.45 mg). Test of the artificial diet of SooOkJam showed excellent adaptability of the artificial diet for larval period from 1st to 3rd, similar to KumOkJam. In the Paecilomyces tenuipes production ability test, the pupal weight of SooOkJam was 1.61 g/individual, similar to DaePoongJam (1.65 g/individual).
