언론의 남북문제 보도에 나타난 이데올로기적 성향과 정부 정책 평가: 김영삼 정부와 김대중 정부 시기의 사설 비교 분석 (Ideological Tendency and Assessment of the Government Policy through Reporting South-North Korea Issue: Comparative Analysis of Editorials under Kim Young-Sam and Kim Dae-Jung Administrations)

  • 이 논문은 김영삼 정부와 김대중 정부 시기 남북문제에 대한 우리 언론의 보도 태도를 이데올로기적 성향과 당시 정부 정책에 대한 비판-지지 평가 측면에서 비교 분석했다. 김영삼 정부와 김대중 정부는 오랜 군사독재 정권이 물러난 뒤 등장한 민간정부란 점에서 공통점이 있지만, 전자가 역대 집권세력의 지지를 얻어 집권한 반면, 후자는 수평적 정권교체를 통해 집권함으로써 기본적으로 성격을 달리했고, 지지기반 등에서도 차이가 컸다. 대북정책에 있어서도 김영삼 정부는 보수적 기조를 유지했으며, 김대중 정부는 진보적 태도를 보였다. 이 연구의 분석대상은 이데올로기적으로 대조적 보도 태도를 보이는 동아일보, 조선일보, 중앙일보와 한겨레신문의 사설을 선정했다. 연구 결과 정부 정책에 대한 평가에서 정부의 성격에 따라 보도의 편차가 드러난 반면 이데올로기적 성향에서는 각 신문이 자신의 색채를 유지한 것으로 나타났다. 동아일보, 조선일보, 중앙일보는 김영삼 정부 때보다 김대중 정부 때 비판의 강도가 더 강해졌으며, 한겨레신문은 비판에서 지지 쪽으로 바뀌었다. 그러나 이데올로기적 성향에서는 4개 신문이 모두 정권교체에 관계없이 자신의 이념적 색채를 그대로 유지한 것으로 나타났다. 다만 김영삼 정부 때보다 김대중 정부 때 이데올로기적으로 보수 색채가 다소 엷어졌거나(동아, 조선, 중앙), 진보 색채를 더욱 띠었음(한겨레)이 드러났다. 각 신문은 자신들이 지니고 있는 보수 및 진보의 이데올로기적 성향을 적극적으로 전파해 남북문제를 다룸에 있어 지지 폭을 넓히고 정부 정책을 자신의 뜻대로 이끌어가려는 의도를 강하게 드러냈다.

  • 후기 자본주의 재생산 국가 이론(state theories of reproduction of late capitalism)을 전개한 오페에 따르면(Offe, 1972), 뉴미디어 산업의 도입과 확대는 자본주의 국가가 체제를 재생산하기 위해 차용한 기제이다. 후기 자본주의 국가의 목표는 '자본 축적(accumulation)'과 '민주주의적 정당화(democratic legitimation)'이다. 본 논문은 90년대 후기 자본주의 국가의 현대적 역할과 케이블TV 산업의 상호관련성을 연구한 것이며, '국가주의(국가주도적 자본주의; state-led capitalism)'의 양상 변화로 집약된다. IMF 상황을 넘겨받은 김대중정부는 자본주의 재생산 기제 회복을 위해 시장 개입적 국가주의를 표면적으로 포기하였다. 또한 국가 기능과 정책 재조직, 신자유주의 방법론, 조합주의적 의사 결정, 통합방송법 제정 등을 통해 탈규제적 시장 경쟁주의를 확립시키고, 미디어 시장의 힘의 분산을 통해 시장과 시민 사회의 신뢰를 얻었다. 시장 구조 개혁은 다층적 국가주의를 확립시켰으며, 국가는 시장의 조직자, 육성자, 감독자, 규제자 역할을 통해 공통적 이해의 관리 주체로 자리잡았다.

  • The purpose of this study was to report dose-independent pharmacokinetics of KR-31543, a new neuroprotective agent for ischemia-reperfusion damage, after intravenous and oral administration and first-pass effects after intravenous. intraportal, intragastric, and intraduodenal administration in rats. After intravenous (10, 20 and 50 mg/kg) and oral (10, 20 and 50 mg/kg) administration, the pharmacokinetic parameters of KR-31543 were dose-independent. (omitted)

  • This study was conducted to determine the biological activities of 70% ethanol extracts from rice husks of nine rice cultivars in Korea. The relative antioxidant activities of rice husk extracts were evaluated by determining DPPH, ABTS radical scavenging activity and reducing power. The contents of total polyphenol, flavonoid and r-oryzanol were measured by spectrophotometric methods. Among the extracts of rice husks, Nokmi rice husks tended to have the most effective antioxidant activities compared to other rice husk varieties. Seolgaeng rice husk extract showed anti-proliferative activity against cancer cell lines (MCF7 and NCI-H460), and Hongjinju rice husk extract significantly exhibited mitogenic activity.

Changes in expression of insulin signaling pathway genes by dietary fat source in growing-finishing pigs

  • This study investigated changes in gene expression by dietary fat source, i.e., beef tallow, soybean oil, olive oil, and coconut oil (each 3% in feed), in both male and female growing-finishing pigs. Real-time PCR was conducted on seven genes (insulin receptor; INSR, insulin receptor substrate; IRS, phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5)-triphosphate; PIP3, 3-phosphoinositide-dependent protein kinase-1; PDK1, protein kinase B; Akt, forkhead box protein O1; FOXO1 and cGMP-inhibited 3', 5'-cyclic phosphodiesterase; PDE3) located upstream of the insulin signaling pathway in the longissimus dorsi muscle (LM) of pigs. The INSR, IRS, PIP3, and PDE3 genes showed significantly differential expression in barrow pigs. Expression of the PIP3 and FOXO1 genes was significantly different among the four dietary groups in gilt pigs. In particular, the PIP3 gene showed the opposite expression pattern between barrow and gilt pigs. These results show that dietary fat source affected patterns of gene expression according to animal gender. Further, the results indicate that the type of dietary fat affects insulin signaling-related gene expression in the LM of pigs. These results can be applied to livestock production by promoting the use of discriminatory feed supplies.

  • Objectives : This research investigates the single oral dose toxicity of ACM in SD rats. Methods : ACMs were administered to female and male SD rats, as an oral dose of 5000 mg/kg. Animals were monitored for the mortality and changes in the body weight, clinical signs and gross observation during the 14 days after dosing, upon necropsy. Results : We could not find any mortality. Compared with the control group, significant weight change was not observed in the experimental group. First day after administration, compound-colored stool was observed in all rats. After the second day of administration, the more common symptoms were not observed. There were no gross abnormalities in all cases. [ED NOTE: highlight: given the context, this is very vague] Conclusions : The results obtained in this study suggest that the approximate lethal dose of ACM in both female and male rats were considered as over 5000 mg/kg.

가미지황탕(加味地黃湯)이 고지혈증(高脂血症) 관련(關聯) 인자(因子)에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Gamijihwang-tang(GJT) on Hyperlipidemia in Rats)

  • Objective : Gamijihwang-tang(GJT) has been used as a therapeutic agent for hyperlipidemia in oriental medicine for several years. This study was performed to investigate the effects of GJT on hyperlipidemia in rats using diverse biological methods. Method : Hyperlipidemia was induced by a hyper-lipidemic diet fed for 4 weeks. Total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, and glucose were measured in the serum after an oral administration of GJT. Lipid peroxidase, SOD, catalase, ACAT, and HMG-CoA were measured in liver after oral administration of GJT. Result: 1. GJT showed safety against cytotoxicity and toxicity in liver. 2. GJT significantly decreased rat's body and liver weight. 3. GJT significantly decreased serum total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol, but increased serum HDL-cholesterol. 4. GJT significantly decreased serum triglyceride and glucose. 5. GJT significantly decreased lipid peroxidation and increased SOD and catalase in liver. 6. GJT significantly decreased ACAT and HMG-CoA reductase of cholesterol manifestation in liver. Conclusions : These results suggest that GJT might be effective in treatment and prevention of hyperlipidemia.

  • Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a common cause of acute hepatitis. Regarding the risk of DILI from herbal preparations, there are controversial issues such as exaggerated reports straying far from the truth and lack of discrimination between herbal drugs and folk remedies or food supplements. This study reported one case of a patient with DILI caused by Smilacis Chinae Radix and cured in an Oriental hospital. Smilacis Chinae Radix has been used as an anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, detoxification and anticancer compound, as a folk remedy. This report would provide helpful information for management of DILI by folk remedies or herbal drugs.
