  • Fiberglass may be a pulmonary toxin and carcinogen because it imitates asbestos, as do other man-made mineral fibers. A 5-months-old Jind dog was accidentally exposed to fiberglass extensively for 3 months in a site of apartment construction. Canine acute clinical pneumoconiosis caused by fiberglass was diagnosed by history, ezamination of environment, physical examination, and chest x-ray check of patient. The main signs were anorexia, dyspnea, increased irregular opacities and air trapping in lung field of chest x-ray films. Because the fiverglass which is used for several purpose are dangerous for health of animal and human. fiberglass dust must be controlled to minimize the adverse effects of fiberglass in the environment.

  • We have studied elemental image compatibility between integral imaging(II) and parallax generation(PG) system for three-dimensional display. The elemental images of PG can be obtained by recombination of the elemental images picked up in II system. The theoretical verification and the experimental results show that the elemental images of PG are in correspondence with the elemental images of II system with proper transformation conditions.

  • A new recorded species of Mortierella was recovered during the investigation of fungal communities in soil samples collected from different locations of Gangwon-do, Korea. The species was identified and described as Mortierella alpina on the basis of phylogenetic analysis of internal transcribed spacer sequences and morphological characteristics. This species has not been officially reported from Korea thus far.

  • Daphne pseudomezereum var. koreana is native to Korea and is distributedin Kangwon-do, Jeollabuk do, and Gyeongsang-do. This economically valuable species has experienced a dramatic decrease in natural habitat due to climate change and is difficult to cultivate. In this study, we investigate a mass propagation method for D. pseudomezereum through in vitro culture and genetic resource preservation.WPM medium was better than the MS medium for shoot growth. As a result, we compared the shoot number and length of apical (W/AP) and non-apical shoots (W0/AP) with BA and GA3 treatments in WPM medium. Their shoots and length grew well in both BA 8ìM + GA38ìM-treated apical shoot and without-apical shoot. NAA did not effectively induce rooting of the in vitro plantlet.
