  • Recently, the barrier membranes have been applied for regenerating bone surrounding peri-implant defects in guided bone regeneration(GBR). GBR membrane should provide mechanical support sufficient to withstand in vivo forces and maintain wound space for bone regeneration. The ability to exclude unwanted tissues of cells(connective tissue and epithelium) is needed. In addition large surface area is conductive to tissue ingrowth. The search for ideal materials that biocompatible, bioresorbable and can support the growth and phenotypic expression of osteoblasts is a major challenge in the biomedical application for the repair of bone defects. • One-dimensional nanostructures such as carbon nanotubes could be ideal templates for formation of metallic nanoparticles. Furthermore, bimetallic component nanoparticles have recently been interesting issues for having high catalytic activity. This work provides both a facile method to synthesize bimetallic catalysts via N atoms of carbon nanotubes and also a picture about how to design the optimal bimetallic catalyst for hydrogen generation from the hydrogen storage material. In principle, the ratio of one component to another component could be generically extended to fabricate the high-performance bimetallic catalysts on host nanostructures. Indeed, we demonstrate that the bimetallic catalyst composed of the optimum composition results in the excellent hydrogen generation property from an aqueous borane ammonia solution, thus being capable of satisfying the Depart of Energy in USA target required for many advanced applications even with the small amount of our bimetallic catalysts attached onto the N-doped carbon nanotubes. This high hydrogen generation rate is found to be attributed to the optimal distance between active Pt and cheap Ni atoms for effective hydrogen generation.

  • Recently, the nanowire configuration of GST showed nanosecond-level phase switch at very low power dissipation, suggesting that the nanowires could be ideal for data storage devices. In spite of many advantages of IST materials, their feasibility in both thin films and nanowires for electronic memories has not been extensively investigated. The synthesis of the chalcogenide nanowires was mainly preformed via a vapor transport process such as vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) growth at a high temperature. However, in this study, IST nanowires as well as thin films were prepared at a low temperature (${\sim}250^{\circ}C$) by metal organic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD) method, which is possible for large area deposition. The IST films and/or nanowires were selectively grown by a control of working pressure at a constant growth temperature by MOCVD. In-Sb-Te NWs will be good candidate materials for high density PRAM applications. And MOCVD system is powerful for applying ultra scale integration cell.

  • PURPOSES: Road Design Consistency Evaluation can guarantee road alignments with safety factors, however it can be hard work to deal with general car accident factors in only this evaluation index. Ideal Road Design Consistency Evaluation is show the mutual balance of road alignment and human factors with a variety of factors for road safety. METHODS: This study carried out overall road safety evaluations which are methods of running speeding consistency and car platoon safety analysis (driver's behaviors factors) as well. RESULTS: Out of 13 sections in a experimental road layout, safety factors of 8 sections showed 'Good' or 'Fair' status. However, 'Poor' results were found out in 5 sections. Particularly, it showed the different outcomes among the 4 evaluation methods used in this study. CONCLUSIONS: Road safety countermeasures were proposed for the potentially dangerous sections in road which failed to identify in the other methods. This study will contribute toward future study of more reliable Road Design Consistency Evaluation in the future for road safety.

  • COVID-19, caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, has spread globally and caused serious social and economic problems. The WHO has declared this outbreak a pandemic. Currently, there are no approved vaccines or antiviral drugs that prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection. Drugs already approved for clinical use would be ideal candidates for rapid development as COVID-19 treatments. In this work, we screened 1,473 FDA-approved drugs to identify inhibitors of SARS-CoV-2 infection using cell-based assays. The antiviral activity of each compound was measured based on the immunofluorescent staining of infected cells using anti-dsRNA antibody. Twenty-nine drugs among those tested showed antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2. We report this new list of inhibitors to quickly provide basic information for consideration in developing potential therapies.

  • The present study developed a design code for preburner of staged combustion cycle engines, which calculates preburnt gas at high-pressure oxidizer-rich conditions and predicts conjugate heat transfer and hydraulics of cryogenic fluid flow through cooling passages. It has been written based on the open-source library Cantera, into which this study has incorporated new source codes to predict correctly non-ideal thermodynamics and transport anomalies of the cryogenic fluid. For a preburner of 100 tonf-class booster engine currently under preliminary design, the present code demonstrated predictive capability and usability as a design code by comparing with CFD simulation.

  • The development of a high-throughput functional genomic screening provides a novel and expeditious approach in identifying critical genes involved in specific biological processes. Here we describe a cell-based cDNA screening system to identify the transcription activators of BiP, an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) chaperone protein. BiP promoter contains the ER stress element which is commonly present in the genes involved in unfolded protein response (UPR) that regulates protein secretion in cells. Therefore, the positive regulators of BiP may also be utilized to improve the recombinant protein production through modulation of UPR. Four BiP activators, including human UDP-glucose:glycoprotein glucosyltransferase 1 (HUGT1), are identified by the cDNA screening. Overexpression of HUGT1 leads to a significant increase in the production of recombinant erythropoietin, interferon ${\gamma}$, and monoclonal antibody in HEK293 cells. Our results demonstrate that the cDNA screening for BiP activators may be effective to identify the novel BiP regulators and HUGT1 may serve as an ideal target gene for improving the recombinant protein production in mammalian cells.

  • To provide the baseline for pricing, this paper proposes pricing-by-rating (PBR) as pricing model at micro-foundations level that can work as the baseline for all pricing models as well as an assessment criterion of business model in all circumstances. It sets up firstly WTP (willingness to pay/purchase) model from explicit needs and develops PBR based on the ordinal scale of the difference between the WTP and the WTS (willingness to supply/sell) by comparing individually the corresponding element/component of a firm's actual marketing mix 4P with that of the best SPEC (solution, price indicator by WTP, encouragement, channel) as an ideal 4P a customer expects and also by comparing the interaction between the 4P and the best SPEC as a whole collectively. And through illustrations it shows its applicability to evaluating business model in practice and finally asserts that PBR works as the baseline for pricing policy and as a criterion of business model evaluation in any circumstances.

  • This study is for a small sized library to expand the functions of public libraries in the community. This study aims to encourage local residents utilizing information and public libraries by opening parted facilities to public and naming it a substitute. It is expected to contribute to richer welfare system. In detail, the study discusses progression of the small sized library as well as budgeting and hiring staffs in Committee on Library and Policy. However, there is limitations in terms of capabilities because school library is different from public library target users, space, unit plans. Therefore, this study investigates a small sized library as a function to find out type, plan, and space availability and size of ideal open school library.
