To structure the KOS registry, it is necessary to select a classification system that suits the characteristics of the collected KOS. This study aimed to classify domestic KOS collected through various classification schems, and based on these results, provide insights for selecting a classification system when structuring the KOS registry. A total of 313 KOS data collected via web searches were categorized using five types of classification systems and a thesaurus, and the results were analyzed. The analysis indicated that for international linkage of the KOS registry, foreign classification systems should be applied, and for optimization with domestic knowledge resources or to cater to domestic researchers, domestic classification systems need to be applied. Additionally, depending on the field-specific characteristics of the KOS, research area KOS should apply classification systems based on academic disciplines, while public sector KOS should consider classification systems based on government functions. Lastly, it is necessary to strengthen the linkage between domestic and international KOS, which also requires the application of multiple classification systems.

This study aims to analyse the necessity of the subject heading construction for the word based classification and to suggest a methodology that uses various knowledge organization systems(KOS). For this purpose, six kinds of KOS were collected for the 20 selected works in each subject. The collected subjects were analysed in terms of constructing a subject heading for the word based classification. The result of the analysis shows that there is a noticeable difference between the library oriented KOS and commercial oriented KOS. In addition, user oriented tags are more similar to the commercial sector's concerning subject categorization than the library oriented ones. However, there is no noticeable difference among the library oriented KOS, commercial sector oriented KOS, and user oriented tags regarding the subject vocabulary. Some practical implications were suggested for the application to the Korean libraries based on the findings of this study.

The purpose of this study is to analyze and systematize the semantic relationships in knowledge organization systems(KOS) . For this purpose, Classification systems, thesaurus, subject headings, semantic networks, ontology, databases were analyzed in terms of the semantic relationships between terms. Also, various kinds of the terminological relationships not only in the current KOS but in the theoretical researches were collected and analyzed. In addition, six proposals were suggested for the organized system of the terminological relationships for the future uses.

The aim of this study is 1) to analyse the historical development and current condition of the subject based classification(SBC), 2) to clarify the function and to categorize the specific kind of SBC, for its conceptualization and the development plan. For this purpose, almost 30 cases, for the period 1937 through now, were analyzed concerning their terms used in the names and the specific kinds as SBC. In addition, the analysis was made regarding how the SBC fulfill the selected main functions as a classificatory scheme and how SBC is inter-related with the other knowledge organization systems(KOS) such as classification and subject heading. Based on the above analysis, the conclusion addressed that SBC could be defined in consideration of the detailed function, type, information environment, and interconnection among the KOS, and suggested the future development plan of SBC as a classification scheme.
