Motion correction captured by Kinect based on synchronized motion database (동기화된 동작 데이터베이스를 활용한 Kinect 포착 동작의 보정 기술)

  • In this paper, we present a method for data-driven correction of the noisy motion data captured from a low-end RGB-D camera such as the Kinect device. For this purpose, our key idea is to construct a synchronized motion database captured with Kinect and additional specialized motion capture device simultaneously, so that the database contains a set of erroneous poses from Kinect and their corresponding correct poses from the mocap device together. In runtime, given motion captured data from Kinect, we search the similar K candidate Kinect poses from the database, and synthesize a new motion only by using their corresponding poses from the mocap device. We present how to build such motion database effectively, and provide a method for querying and searching a desired motion from the database. We also adapt the laze learning framework to synthesize the corrected poses from the querying results.

Parametric Blending of Hole Patches Based on Shape Difference (형상 차이 기반 홀 패치의 파라미트릭 블렌딩 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a new technique for filling holes in triangular mesh. First, arbitrary shaped holes are detected. Second, source and target hole patches are generated through triangulation, refinement, fairing, and smoothing. Finally, the shape difference between the two patches is analyzed and a patch with enhanced features is obtained through blending between patches. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is demonstrated by applying the hole filling technique to the triangular mesh model with various shaped holes.

Feedback Design and Analysis for 3-dimensional Drawing in Virtual Reality (가상현실에서의 3차원 드로잉을 위한 피드백 설계 및 효과 분석)

  • This paper proposes an effective method of giving users feedback on 3-dimensional drawing and measures its performance to ensure that feedback can help users enter the correct position in 3D. In the experiment of drawing a given line shape using a hand-held controller, the user is provided with three levels of visual, auditory, and haptic feedback for the position input error. As a result of analyzing the position input accuracy according to the type of feedback, all types of feedback are able to significantly reduce errors, and visual feedback and haptic feedback are more effective than auditory feedback.

Precise Sweep Volume Computation Accelerated by GPU (GPU 가속을 이용한 정밀밀한 스웹 볼륨 경계 계산)

  • We present a robust GPU algorithm constructing a sweep volume boundary for a triangular mesh model. Sweeping geometric entities of a triangular mesh object is first approximated to a set of triangles, the envelope of which becomes the outer boundary of the sweep volume. We find the envelope by computing the arrangement of the triangle set and extracting its outmost boundary. To ensure robustness of the algorithm, we adopt random perturbation of sweep vertices and the interval arithmetic using multi-level precisions. The algorithm is implemented to perform most computation on GPU, and as a result it runs two orders of magnitude faster than other algorithms.

  • More force must be applied when dragging a wet compared with a dry cloth lying on the table. Increased force is needed because the fluid between the cloth and the surface of the table produces an adhesion force. In this paper, we study the adhesion force between a wet cloth and the surface of an object. To compute the adhesion force, we used the adhesion force model used in textile research based on real-world experiments and also considered the effect of wrinkles, which, to our knowledge, has not been investigated in previous work. Furthermore, we studied the phenomenon in which a wet cloth adheres to the surface of an object and that in which a wet cloth adheres to itself when undergoing self-collision.

Improving Spatial Resolution in Real-time for Ultra-thin Light Field Cameras (초박형 라이트필드 카메라의 실시간 분해능 향상 알고리즘 개발)

  • 초박형 라이트필드 카메라 시스템은 이미지 센서 위에 렌즈 어레이를 부착하는 방식으로 만들어진다. 이러한 초박형 라이트필드 카메라는 하나의 이미지 센서를 여러 개의 sub-aperture가 나눠쓰는 방식으로 되어있어 개별 이미지의 분해능이 낮으며, sub-aperture 이미지들을 융합해 추가적인 분해능 향상이 수행되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 초박형 라이트필드 카메라 시스템을 개발했으며, 개발된 카메라 시스템을 위한 실시간 분해능 향상 알고리즘을 개발, 실험을 통해 검증했다. 개발된 초박형 라이트필드 카메라는 두께 2mm, 24개(6×4)의 551×551 해상도의 sub-aperture로 구성되어 있으며, 임베디드 컴퓨팅 보드를 사용해 휴대가 가능하도록 제작되었다. 실시간 분해능 향상 알고리즘은 임베디드 컴퓨팅 보드의 GPU에서 병렬처리를 통해 라플라시안 피라미드 기반의 이미지 융합 알고리즘을 수행한다. 실험을 통해 검증한 결과로, 개발 시스템은 MTF50값이 평균 35% 정도 개선되었으며, 10.65fps의 처리속도로 실시간 처리가 가능함을 확인했다.

An Empirical Study for the Effect of CSR Performance on Tax Avoidance: The Case Of South Korea (한국 시장에서의 기업의 사회공헌활동과 조세회피)

  • Purpose - The primary objective of this paper is to empirically examine whether the engagement of socially responsible activities in corporations affect the tendency of tax-avoidance by using the sample of Korean companies. We are particularly interested in Chaebol-affiliated firms, which are a special type of Korean conglomerates. Design/methodology/approach - This study is based on a sample of 5,496 firm-year observation data from 2011 to 2017 by using the ESG ratings from the Korea Corporate Governance Service(KCGS), a ESG rating agency in Korea. For our analysis, the firms were separated into 1,547 Chaebol-affiliated firms and other 3,949 firms. All financial and firm data were extracted from Fn-guide, which provides financial information for Korean listed firms. Findings - We find that CSR is generally positively related to the effective tax rate, which indicates a lower level of tax avoidance for more socially responsible firms. In particular, a positive relationship of social score with GAAP ETR was observed. Research implications or Originality - We find that the positive relationship is robust to the group of chaebol and non-chaebol affiliates unlike extant literature.

Motion Style Transfer using Variational Autoencoder (변형 자동 인코더를 활용한 모션 스타일 이전)

  • In this paper, we propose a framework that transfers the information of style motions to content motions based on a variational autoencoder network combined with a style encoding in the latent space. Because we transfer a style to a content motion that is sampled from a variational autoencoder, we can increase the diversity of existing motion data. In addition, we can improve the unnatural motions caused by decoding a new latent variable from style transfer. That improvement was achieved by additionally using the velocity information of motions when generating next frames.

Does Corporate Sustainability Management Affect Investment Efficiency?

  • Purpose - We aim to verify whether CSM activities increase investment efficiency, and to verify whether the influence of CSM activities on investment efficiency is discriminatory depending on whether or not they belong to chaebol. Design/methodology/approach - Using 4,701 Korean firm-year observations over the 2011-2017 period, we used multiple regression analysis. CSM is measured by the evaluation score of the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS). Findings - Our study confirms that CSM is a significantly positive relationship with investment efficiency. This shows that, as a result of CSM, the increased earnings quality acts as an incentive to increase investment efficiency. Next, in analysis of a dataset into two groups (a chaebol, non-chaebol), the results show that the relationship between CSM and investment efficiency differs among detailed indicator activities depending on whether or not they belong to chaebol. Research implications or Originality - It is significant that this study focused on and analyzed CSM as a determinant of investment efficiency, and examined the effects of whether or not it belongs to chaebol in the relationship between CSM and investment efficiency. Our results, which suggested that CSM can increase investment efficiency, are expected to provide important implications not only for managers but also for investors and supervisors.

  • In this paper, the goal is to investigate how manipulating the camera can minimize motion sickness and maximize immersion when a user moves in a virtual environment that requires vertical movement. In general, since a user uses virtual reality in a flat space, the actual movement of the user and the virtual movement are different, resulting in sensory conflict, which has the possibility of causing virtual reality motion sickness. Therefore, we propose three powerful camera manipulation techniques, implement them, and then propose which model is most appropriate through user experiments.
