Recently, there have been many construction projects on soft ground with growth of industry and various construction problems concerning soft soil behavior also have been reported. Especially, foundation piles of abutments and (or) buildings which were constructed on the soft ground have been suffering from a lot of stability problems of inordinary displacement due to lateral flow of soft ground. Although many researches for this phenomena have been carried out, it is still difficult to assess the mechanism of lateral flow on soft ground quantitatively. And reliable design method for judgement of lateral flow occurrence is not established yet. In this study, PNN (probabilistic neural network) and CNN (committee neural network) theories were applied for judgment of lateral flow occurrence based on eat data compiled from Korea and Japan. Predictions of PNN and CNN models for new data which were not used during model development are compared with those predicted by conventional empirical methods. It was found that the developed PNN and CNN models can predict more precise and reliable judgment of lateral flow occurrence than conventional empirical methods.
In the Web 3.0 era, the third generation of web technologies that uses blockchain technology to give creators ownership of data, metaverse is a crucial trend for developing a creator economy. Web 3.0 aims for a value in which content creators are compensated from participation without being dependent on the platform. Blockchain NFT technology is crucial in metaverse, a vital component of Web 3.0, to ensure the ownership of digital assets. Based on the theory that investigates the concept and characteristics of metaverse, this study identifies five features of the metaverse based NFT art ①'Continuity', ②'Presence', ③ 'Concurrency', ④'Economy', ⑤ 'Application of technology'. By focusing on metaverse based NFT art <Hybrid Nature> case study, we analyzed how the concepts and characteristics of the metaverse and NFT art were reflected in the work. This study focuses on the concept of NFT art, which is emerging at the intersection of art, technology and industry, and emphasizes the importance of finding creative, aesthetic, and cultural values rather than the NFT art's potential for financial gain. It is still in its early stage for academic studies to focus on the aesthetic qualities of NFT art. Future academics and researchers can find this study to gain deeper understanding of the traits and artistic, creative aspects of metaverse based NFT art.

After participating in the Second Boer War in 1899, the Australian Army participated in world wars such as World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. To overcome the decline in the social recognition of soldiers and the continuous shortage of troops caused by the protracted war, the status and role of female personnel were expanded. The use of female manpower, which started as medical support during the Second Boer War, expanded to combat support missions such as communications, maintenance, driving, secret document management, and radar surveillance during World War II. After the Vietnam War, the Chiefs of Staff of the Australian Army, Navy and Air Force established a committee to expand women's participation in the military, improved service conditions for female personnel and supplemented regulations so that they were treated as soldiers, not women, and reached a turning point in expanding the role of female personnel in the Australian military. As a result, all combat positions, including special forces, were opened to women in 2014, and a plan was established to increase the proportion of women in each service by 2030. The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) began using female manpower from World War II. After making various efforts to secure excellent manpower, the proportion of female manpower has risen to 24%, higher than that of Britain, the United States, Canada and Australia, which have a longer history of female military personnel than New Zealand. This is the result of NZDF efforts to open combat roles to women and allow female personnel to advance to high-ranking military positions such as generals and consular officers. In addition, policy alternatives to address women's realistic concerns such as pregnancy and childbirth, childcare, and vertical organizational culture were presented. In particular, Operation "Respect" was implemented to overcome the problem of not leaving or joining the army due to inappropriate sexual behavior and bullying. The operation respect established the role of the leader, emphasized the support of the victim, and accumulated data of the accident to prevent similar accidents. In addition, through the "Wāhine Toa" program, excellent female manpower could be introduced into the military through customized support considering the military life cycle (attract-recruit-retain-advance) of female personnel. South Korea is also considering expanding the ratio and role of female manpower as one of the ways to overcome the shortage of troops and leap into an advanced science and technology group. Implications were derived from the use of female manpower in the NZDF and the direction in which the Korean military should proceed was considered.

The Hippo kinase cascade functions as a central hub that relays input from the "outside world" of the cell and translates it into specific cellular responses by regulating the activity of Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1). How Hippo translates input from the extracellular signals into specific intracellular responses remains unclear. Here, we show that transforming growth factor β (TGFβ)-activated TAK1 activates LATS1/2, which then phosphorylates YAP1. Phosphorylated YAP1 (p-YAP1) associates with RUNX3, but not with TEAD4, to form a TGFβ-stimulated restriction (R)-point-associated complex which activates target chromatin loci in the nucleus. Soon after, p-YAP1 is exported to the cytoplasm. Attenuation of TGFβ signaling results in re-localization of unphosphorylated YAP1 to the nucleus, where it forms a YAP1/TEAD4/SMAD3/AP1/p300 complex. The TGFβ-stimulated spatiotemporal dynamics of YAP1 are abrogated in many cancer cells. These results identify a new pathway that integrates TGFβ signals and the Hippo pathway (TGFβ→TAK1→LATS1/2→YAP1 cascade) with a novel dynamic nuclear role for p-YAP1.
This study proposed a research model that can explain the usage intentions of users and non-users by considering the performance aspects of personal mobility and external environmental factors based on the SOR (Stimulus-Organism-Response) model, A survey was conducted targeting domestic users and non-users, and research models and hypotheses were verified through Partial Least Square (PLS) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN). As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the users' perceived satisfaction and perceived trust had a positive effect on their intention to use, and that perceived risk and environmental value had a significant relationship with perceived satisfaction and perceived trust. For non-users, it was found that there was a positive correlation between perceived satisfaction and intention to use, and it was verified that perceived risk and environmental value, like users, were significant antecedents of perceived satisfaction and perceived trust. Among the remaining variables, the perceived mobility of users and the perceived ease of use of non-users were respectively presented as important influencing factors on perceived satisfaction.

Research-based professional development is essential for in-service and pre-service science teachers across the nation. The purpose of this study was to examine in-service science teachers' and pre-service teachers' perception of the training program for professional development using advanced science laboratory equipment and experiments. Science teachers (N= 43) in science high schools and pre-service science teachers (N=189) were selected as research subjects. As a result of this study, in-service teachers and pre-service teachers recognized that they lacked understanding and experience in advanced science laboratory equipment, although they perceived the importance of its use. They wanted to attend training programs during vacation if they would have the opportunity. Both groups felt that they needed to improve their ability to operate the advanced science lab equipment, preferring to practice these instruments in the training programs. In-service teachers preferred the development of teaching and learning programs for use of the advanced science laboratory equipment. However, pre-service teachers preferred using the advanced science laboratory equipment. The study gives implications for teachers' professional development.

The purpose of this study was to develop a rubric for assessing students' scientific argumentation. Through the analysis of relevant literature related to argument in science education for developing rubric, the procedure in development and the category in assessment for rubric were elicited. According to the general procedure in developing rubric, the standard for evaluating the argumentation derived three categories such as a form, contents, and attitude. The form category was further segmented into sub-functions composition, claim, ground, and conclusion in the whole. The category for contents was segmented into sub-functions understanding, credibility, and inference. And the category for attitude was set to sub-functions participatory level and openness. The standard for evaluating sub-functions in each of the categories formed in this way was minutely suggested with five stages. The rubric, which was developed on the basis of literature, was inspected through a regular seminar in one expert in science education and fellow researchers. The rubric, which was developed in the early days, was again modified by being verified on problem and improvement matter after being entrusted to four experts in scientific education. And, the finally-completed rubric indicated to be high with 0.96 in the content validity index by being verified the validity by the four experts in science education. The developed rubric will lead to being able to increase the understanding about demonstration in students, and to being available for being utilized as the criteria for developing the argumentation process program and for evaluating the argumentation activity.

The purpose of this study is to investigate brain activity both during the processing of a scientific hypothesis about biological phenomena and mental arithmetic using 3.0T fMRI at the KAIST. For this study, 16 healthy male subjects participated voluntarily. Each subject's functional brain images by performing a scientific hypothesis task and a mental arithmetic task for 684 seconds were measured. After the fMRI measuring, verbal reports were collected to ensure the reliability of brain image data. This data, which were found to be adequate based on the results of analyzing verbal reports, were all included in the statistical analysis. When the data were statistically analyzed using SPM2 software, the scientific hypothesis generating process was found to have independent brain network different from the mental arithmetic process. In the scientific hypothesis process, we can infer that there is the process of encoding semantic derived from the fusiform gyrus through question-situation analysis in the pre-frontal lobe. In the mental arithmetic process, the area combining pre-frontal and parietal lobes plays an important role, and the parietal lobe is considered to be involved in skillfulness. In addition, the scientific hypothesis process was found to be accompanied by scientific emotion. These results enabled the examination of the scientific hypothesis process from the cognitive neuroscience perspective, and may be used as basic materials for developing a learning program for scientific hypothesis generation. In addition, this program can be proposed as a model of scientific brain-based learning.
