The objective of this research was to investigate physicochemical properties of waxy sorghum flours by different milling methods (pin mill and ultra fine mill). Four different sorghum flours were used for the experiments ; PWS (pin milled whole sorghum flour), PS (pin milled sorghum flour without bran), UFWS (ultra fine milled whole sorghum flour), UFS (ultra fine milled sorghum flour without bran). The contents of crude ash and total dietary fiber were the highest in PWS. Amylose content of pin milled sorghum flour was higher than that of ultra fine milled flour. The mean particle size of pin milled flours was six times lager than ultra fine milled flours. The L values of UFS and UFWS were higher than those of PS and PWS, whereas a and b values were higher in PWS. The water binding capacity was highest in UFWS, and solubility was higher in PS and UFS. Swelling power of flours was highest in UFS. The damaged starch content was higher in PS and UFS, which means damaged starch of sorghum flours significantly affected by polishing than milling method. The pasting properties were higher in the pin milled flours. Initial pasting temperature of pin milled flour was ranging from 70.5 to $73.1^{\circ}C$, which are higher than ultra fine milled flour ($68.6^{\circ}C$). The contents of total polyphenol were higher in PWS and UFWS than those of PS and UFS, there was no difference between the two milling methods. The results of this study indicate that physicochemical properties of sorghum flour were affected by milling methods as well as bran.
In this work, novel thin film composite (TFC) forward osmosis (FO) membranes are developed via interfacial polymerization on the polysulfone (PS) substrate, using TEOS as the a sol-gel reagent to form hydrophilic interlayer polymer between PS and polyamide (PA). The PS substrate was cast on a very thin polyester nonwoven to reduce membrane resistance. With the incorporation of TEOS (tetraethoxy silane) polymer in the interface between PS and PA, the formed TFC FO membrane exhibits better hydrophilicity and improved water flux, and therefore superior membrane performance. By changing the polymerization sequence of PA interfacial polymerization and TEOS sol-gel condensation, the surface properties and performance of FO membranes are changed significantly. The permeability of FO membranes were estimated using the bench-scale FO test equipment. The distribution of the polysiloxane on composite membrane and morphology are also studied with FE-SEM and EDAX. The PS_PA_TEOS membrane showed highly enhanced water flux (79.2 LMH) but reverse salt flux (RSF) value (7.10 GMH) also increased. However, the flux of PS_TEOS_PA membrane increased moderately (54.1 LMH) without increasing RSF value (1.60 GMH) compare with PS_PA membrane.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of crumb rubber recycled from used tires as a soil incorporation and topdressing materials on a trafficked Korean lawngrass‘Zenith’(Zoysia japonica). In Exp 1, incorporation treatments included three particle sizes (PS: coarse =4∼6.35 mm, medium =2∼4 mm, and One : less than 2 mm in diameter) and two incorporation rate (IR: 10 and 20%). Wear treatments were applied 30 passes per day by compactor weights being 60 kg with soccer shoes. Topdressing treatments included three PS and two topdressing depth (TD: 5 and 10 mm). Wear treatments were the same as described in Exp 1. In Exp 1, the treatment with medium PS+IR 20 resulted in the tendency to have high total clipping yield. There was no significant difference in clipping yield, turfgrass visual color, coverage, and root length among the treatments. Compared to control, tissue Zn levels increased about 6.5-fold by the treatments. The treatment with fine PS +IR 20 caused a less peak deceleration than coarse PS +IR 10. Total porosity, air-filled porosity, and capillary porosity increased with fine PS +IR 20. In Exp 2, compared to controls, however, there was a difference in turfgrass visual color after the termination of traffic treatment. There was no difference in root length. The treatment with fine PS + TD 10 resulted in the highest total clipping yield. As a result of soil physical analysis, soil penetration resistance was reduced by the treatments. The treatment with coarse PS resulted in a less peak deceleration than fine PS. In conclusion, turfgrass growth was increased by crumb rubber incorporation which enhanced soil physical properties. The crumb rubber topdressing was able to cushion the crown tissue area while still providing a smooth and uniform surface, improve overall turfgrass quality, and reduce compaction.

In this paper, OPPS(oxidized porous poly-silicon) field emitters were fabricated by using various emitter-electrode metal and these electron emission characteristics were investigated for different thermal annealing effects. The addressed OPPS field emitter with Pt/Ti emitter electrode annealed at $300^{\circ}C$-1hr showed the efficiency of $2.98\%$ at $V_{ps}$=12 V and one annealed at $350^{\circ}C$-1hr showed the highest efficiency of $3.37\%$at $V_{ps}$=16V. They are resulted from the improvement of interfacial contact characteristics of thin emitter metal to an oxidized porous poly-silicon and the decrease of electrical resistance of emitter metal. The brightness of the OPPS field emitter increases linearly in $V_{ps}$ and after oxidation process for $900^{\circ}C$-50min, the brightness of the OPPS field emitter with the as-deposited Pt/Ti emitter electrode was 3600 cd/$m^2$ at the $V_{ps}$=15 V, 6260 cd/$m^2$ at the $V_{ps}$=20 V. Thermal treatment improved the adhesion between the Ti buffer layer and the oxidized porous poly-silicon and also played an important role in the uniform distribution of electric field to the emitter electrode.

Inflorescence architecture mainly contributes to final grain yield in crops. Sorghum inflorescence is basically composed of one fertile sessile spikelet (SS) and two infertile pedicellate spikelets (PS). To identify regulatory factors involved in the inflorescence architecture, we screened an EMS mutagenesis population from the pedigreed sorghum mutant library. We found inflorescent architecture mutants, named as multi-seed mutants, msd, with gained fertile ability in PS and also an increased number of floral branches. In natural sorghum populations, it is not common that are fertile. A detailed dissection of developmental stages of wild type and msd1 mutant described that the PS in wild type do not have floral organs, including ovary, stigma, filament and anther, while the msd1 mutants generate intact floral organ in the sessile spikelet. We found MSD1 encoded a TCP transcription factor using bulk segregant analysis (BSA) of F2 population, and was a strongly enriched expression during inflorescence developmental stages. We proposed that MSD1 functions to suppress floral organ maintenance at PS during inflorescence development in Sorghum. To explore the regulatory network associated with PS fertility, whole genome expression profiling was performed at 4 different developmental stages in 6 various tissue types between wild type and msd1. Taken together, we demonstrated that MSD1 was involved in the plant hormone and maybe influenced program cell death in PS via the activation of plant hormonal pathway.

The thermal degradation of polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA) blend namely polymethyl methacrylate-polycarbonate(PMMA-PC) blend and polymethyl methacrylate-polystyrene(PMMA-PS) blend were carried out by isothermal method under air at several heating temperature from 220 to $270^{\circ}C$. Molecular weight changes during the thermal decomposition were monitored by means of the viscosity average molecular weight($\bar{M}v$). The viscosity average molecular weight was determined by Gel Permeation Chromatography(GPC). The dominant process in the degradation of PMMA-PC and PMMA-PS blend were main chain scission randomly due to weak links that may be distributed along the polymer backbone and the initial rate which the bonds are broken is not sustained. The infra-red spectra of degraded PMMA-PS blend show that the presence of aromatic ketone band at $1685cm^{-1}$. However, the infra-red spectra of degraded PMMA-PC blend show that the presence of hydroperoxide band at $3450cm^{-1}$. Thus indicating that the weak links are attacked by oxygen from the air and produce hydroperoxide or ketone. The activation energies of PMMA-PC blend and PMMA-PS blend were 18.2 and 17.9 Kcal/mol, respectively.
Rhizobacteria are used as inoculants to enhance crop yield and for biological control of fungal pathogens. Fluorescent pseudomonads isolated from the rhizosphere of groundnut showed suppression of the phytopathogen Macrophomina phaseolina that causes charcoal rot of groundnut, an economically important agroproduct. Two strains of fluorescent pseudomonads, designated as PS1 and PS2, were selected as a result of in vitro antifungal activity. After 5 days of incubation at $28{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, both PS1 and PS2 caused clear inhibition zones in dual cultures, restricting the growth of M. phaseolina by 71 % and 74%, respectively. Both the strains were capable of producing siderophores, indole acetic acid, and hydrocyanic acid, and causing phosphate solubilization under normal growth conditions. These strains, when used as inoculants in groundnut, enhanced germination up to 15% and 30% with subsequent increase in grain yield by 66% and 77%, respectively. Conversely, when the pathogen alone was tested 57% decrease in yield was recorded. Thus the studies revealed the potential of the two pseudomonads not only as biocontrol agents against M. phaseolina, but also as a good growth promoter for groundnut.

Drug delivery to the lymphatic system may be important in terms of the treatment with lymphatic involvement, such as tumor metastases and immunization. Especially, drug transport via the intestinal lymphatics after oral administration has been attracted lots of interests. The purpose of this study was to prepare cyclosporin A (CSA)-loaded liposomes, with different characteristics, and evaluate their mucoadhesivity. Three liposome preparations were formulated: cationic stearylamine liposomes (SA-Lip), anionic phosphatidylserine liposomes (PS-Lip), Polymer (chitosan)-coated liposomes (CS-Lip), and characterized. The liposome preparations were found to be spherical in shape, with PS-Lip being the smallest. The liposome preparations exhibited entrapment efficiencies in the order: PS-Lip $(52.5{\pm}2.9%)$ > SA-Lip $(48.8{\pm}3.3%)$ > CS-Lip $(41.7{\pm}4.2%)$. Finally, mucoadhesive tests were carried out using rat intestine, with SA-Lip (67%) showing the best adhesive rate of the three preparations (PS-Lip: 56%, CS-Lip: 61%). These results suggest that a positive charge on the surface of drug carriers may be an important factor for the intestinal drug delivery.
Mutation in the presenilin 2 (PS2mt) is known to be one of factors involved in the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD). It was recently revealed that an abnormality of lipid metabolism is a phenomenon occurring in AD. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the potential relationship between the mutation of PS2 and alterations of the lipid profile within the brain. The results showed there increases in the levels of cholesterol, low density lipoprotein and triglyceride, but a decrease in the level of high density lipoprotein in brain tissues expressing mutant PS2. These findings indicated that PS2mt is involved in the abnormalities of the lipid profile, which could cause or result in the development of AD.
In this paper, by using fixed point theorem, we obtain the stability of the following functional equations $$f(pr,qs)+g(ps,qr)={\theta}(p,q,r,s)f(p,q)h(r,s)\\f(pr,qs)+g(ps,qr)={\theta}(p,q,r,s)g(p,q)h(r,s)$$, where G is a commutative semigroup, ${\theta}:G^4{\rightarrow}{\mathbb{R}}_k$ a function and f, g, h are functionals on $G^2$.
