Lightness Mapping for Uniform Color Change and Gamut Mapping for Maximum Chroma Reproduction (균일한 색 변화를 위한 밝기 사상과 최대 채도 재현을 위한 색역 사상)

  • In this paper, lightness mapping for uniform color distribution and gamut mapping for maximum chroma reproduction are proposed. In the conventional lightness mapping, the average lightness difference between the two gamut is increased and different color changes in bright and dark regions are also increased. To solve these problems, a lightness mapping is proposed that minimizes the lightness difference of the cusps at each hue angle and produces same color changes in bright and dark regions. Also, gamut mapping that utilize variable anchor point and an anchor point are proposed for maximum chroma reproduction and uniform color change. Accordingly, the proposed algorithm can reproduce high quality images with low-cost color devices.

Ontology Mapping Composition for Query Transformation on Distributed Environments (분산 환경에서의 쿼리 변환을 위한 온톨로지 매핑 결합)

  • Semantic heterogeneity should be overcome to support automated information sharing process between information systems in ontology-based distributed environments. To do so, traditional approaches have been based on explicit mapping between ontologies from human experts of the domain. However, the manual tasks are very expensive, so that it is difficult to obtain ontology mappings between all possible pairs of information systems. Thereby, in this paper, we propose a system to make the existing mapping information sharable and exchangeable. It means that the proposed system can collect the existing mapping information and aggregate them. Consequently, we can estimate the ontology mappings in an indirect manner. In particular, this paper focuses on query propagation on the distributed networks. Once we have the indirect mapping between systems, the queries can be efficiently transformed to automatically exchange knowledge between heterogeneous information systems.

CLB-Based CPLD Technology Mapping Algorithm for Power Minimization under Time Constraint (시간 제약 조건 하에서 저전력을 고려한 CLB구조의 CPLD 기술 매핑 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we proposed a CLB-based CPLD technology mapping algorithm for power minimization under time constraint in combinational circuit. The main idea of our algorithm is to exploit the "cut enumeration and feasible cluster" technique to generate possible mapping solutions for the sub-circuit rooted at each node. In our technology mapping algorithm conducted a low power by calculating TD and EP of each node and decomposing them on the circuit composed of DAG. It also takes the number of input, output, and OR-term into account on condition that mapping can be done up to the base of CLB, and so it generates the feasible clusters to meet the condition of time constraint. Of the feasible clusters, we should first be mapping the one that h3s the least output for technology mapping of power minimization and choose to map the other to meet the condition of time constraint afterwards. To demonstrate the efficiency of our approach, we applied our algorithm to MCNC benchmarks and compared the results with those of the exiting algorithms. The experimental results show that our approach is shown a decrease of 46.79% compared with DDMAP and that of 24.38% for TEMPLA in the power consumption.

DEMO: Deep MR Parametric Mapping with Unsupervised Multi-Tasking Framework

  • Compressed sensing (CS) has been investigated in magnetic resonance (MR) parametric mapping to reduce scan time. However, the relatively long reconstruction time restricts its widespread applications in the clinic. Recently, deep learning-based methods have shown great potential in accelerating reconstruction time and improving imaging quality in fast MR imaging, although their adaptation to parametric mapping is still in an early stage. In this paper, we proposed a novel deep learning-based framework DEMO for fast and robust MR parametric mapping. Different from current deep learning-based methods, DEMO trains the network in an unsupervised way, which is more practical given that it is difficult to acquire large fully sampled training data of parametric-weighted images. Specifically, a CS-based loss function is used in DEMO to avoid the necessity of using fully sampled k-space data as the label, thus making it an unsupervised learning approach. DEMO reconstructs parametric weighted images and generates a parametric map simultaneously by unrolling an interaction approach in conventional fast MR parametric mapping, which enables multi-tasking learning. Experimental results showed promising performance of the proposed DEMO framework in quantitative MR T1ρ mapping.

Genetic Linkage Mapping of RAPD Markers Segregating in Korean Ogol Chicken - White Leghorn Backcross Population

  • This study was carried out to construct mapping population and to evaluate the methods involved, including polymorphic DNA marker system and appropriate statistical analysis. As an initial step to establish chicken genome mapping project, White Leghorn (WL) and Korean Ogol chicken (KOC) were used for generating backcross population. From 8 initial parents, total 280 backcross progenies were obtained and 40 were used for genotyping and linkage analysis. For development of novel polymorphic markers for KOC, Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers specific for this chicken line were generated. Also included in this study were six microsatellite markers from East Lansing map as reference loci. For segregation analysis, 15 RAPD markers and 6 microsatellites were used to genotype the backcross population. Among the RAPD markers that we developed, 2 pairs of markers were identified to be linked and another 4 RAPD markers showed linkage with microsatellites of known map. In summary, this study showed that our backcross population generated from the mating of KOC to WL serves as a valuable genetic resource for genotyping. Furthermore, RAPD markers are proved to be valuable in linkage mapping analysis.

  • A ductility inverse-mapping method for SDOF systems including passive dampers is proposed which enables one to find the maximum acceleration of ground motion for the prescribed maximum response deformation. In the conventional capacity spectrum method, the maximum response deformation is computed through iterative procedures for the prescribed maximum acceleration of ground motion. This is because the equivalent linear model for response evaluation is described in terms of unknown maximum deformation. While successive calculations are needed, no numerically unstable iterative procedure is required in the proposed method. This ductility inverse-mapping method is applied to an SDOF model of bilinear hysteresis. The SDOF models without and with passive dampers (viscous, viscoelastic and hysteretic dampers) are taken into account to investigate the effectiveness of passive dampers for seismic retrofitting of building structures. Since the maximum response deformation is the principal parameter and specified sequentially, the proposed ductility inverse-mapping method is suitable for the implementation of the performance-based design.

Evaluation of Various Tone Mapping Operators for Backward Compatible JPEG Image Coding

  • Recently, the standardization of backward compatible JPEG image coding for high dynamic range (HDR) image has been undertaken to establish an international standard called "JPEG XT." The JPEG XT consists of two layers: the base layer and the residual layer. The base layer contains tone mapped low dynamic range (LDR) image data and the residual layer contains the error signal used to reconstruct the HDR image. This paper gives the result of a study to evaluate the overall performance of tone mapping operators (TMOs) for this standard. The evaluation is performed using five HDR image datasets and six TMOs for profiles A, B, and C of the proposed JPEG XT standard. The Tone Mapped image Quality Index (TMQI) and no reference image quality assessment (NR IQA) are used for measuring the LDR image quality. The peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) is used to evaluate the overall compression performance of JPEG XT profiles A, B, and C. In TMQI and NR IQA measurements, TMOs using display adaptive tone mapping and adaptive logarithmic mapping each gave good results. A TMO using adaptive logarithmic mapping gave good PSNRs.

  • Wireless communication is one of most active areas in modern communication researches, QoS (Quality of Service) assurance is very important for wireless communication systems design, especially for applications such as streaming video etc., which requires strict QoS assurance. The modern wireless networks multi-layer protocol stack structure results in QoS metrics layered and acting in cascade and QoS metrics vertical mapping between protocol layers. Based on virtual buffer between protocol layers and queuing technology, a unified layered QoS mapping framework is proposed in this paper, in which we first propose virtual queue concept, give a novelty united neighboring protocol layers QoS metric mapping framework, and analysis method based on dicerete-time Markov chain, and numerical results show that our proposed framework represents a significant improvement over previous model.

  • The synthesis of the 3D images is the most important part of the virtual reality. The photon mapping is the best method for reality in the 3D graphics. This paper presents an architecture for photon mapping applications on SOC devices. The proposed architecture reduces the computation time to photonmap search and radiance estimation. Also this architecture is implemented by a SIMD processor which trades parallelism for frequency of operation.
