IT 환경 변화에 따른 인터랙티브 디자인 교육의 방향성 -대학교육을 중심으로- (Providing a Direction to Interactive Design Education According to the Changes in IT Environment -Focusing on College Education-)

  • 본 연구는 변화하는 IT 환경에 따른 디자인 교육의 혁신 요구에 주목하여, 인터랙티브 디자인 분야의 학문적 가능성과 대학에서의 교육방안을 제시함으로서, 매체 및 기술의 변동에 따른 디자인 교육의 합리적인 방향성을 모색하였다. 본 연구는 사회적 요구에 따라 인터랙티브 디자인을 통한 고부가가치를 얻기 위해서는 그에 따른 연구와 학문적 기반이 갖추어져야 할 것이며, 특히, 대학에서의 독립적인 학문 영역 토대를 마련하고, 관련 교육과정의 구축이 선행되어야 할 것이라는 인식에 따라, 그 교육적 방향성을 제시하였다는데 의의가 있다. 본 연구를 통해 인터랙티브 디자인의 독자적 학문영역 구축의 필요성을 언급하였으며, 학문적으로 인터랙티브 디자인의 개념과 범위를 정립하였다. 인터랙티브 디자인학의 영역은 전통적인 기술만을 가르치는 것으로는 충분하지 않다. 따라서 전통적 디자인 교육의 보편적 한계를 넘어선 기술적 이해를 요구하면서, 복합적인 이슈를 다룰 수 있어야 할 것이며, 그에 따른 차별화된 교육방법의 모색이 요구된다.

전문가 인식 조사에 의한 공학 설계 능력의 정의 및 하위 영역과 요소 도출 (Abstraction of the Definition of Engineering Design Ability and its Subdivision and Element by the Survey of Experts' Recognition)

  • The purpose of this research is to consider theoretical points of view on a preceding research related to an engineering design and abstract the definition of engineering design ability, its subdivision and element on the basis of experts' recognition. To achieve this goal, various literature researches were carried out by examining domestic and foreign articles in journals, lots of dissertations, and books related to engineering design through theoretical consideration. And to secure the validity on the definition of engineering design ability, its subdivision and element through the theoretical study, a feasibility evaluation method by the experts was applied. And the feasibility evaluation of the experts was conducted through 2 stages. The major conclusions of this study are as follows. Firstly, based on the experts' recognition on the definition of engineering design ability, its subdivision and element, which were revised through the 1st feasibility evaluation and then utilized in the 2st one, the validity was confirmed, and the subdivisions of the engineering design ability were divided into 5 and the elements of the subdivision ability were 33. Secondly, the engineering design ability was defined as "the one to design a realizable product with consumers' demand fully satisfying, based on a knowledge application ability, thinking ability, communication ability, problem-solving ability, and teamwork ability to solve engineering problems." Thirdly, the subdivisions of the engineering design ability were divided as a knowledge application ability, thinking ability, communication ability, problem-solving ability, and teamwork ability.

Customization and Autonomy : Characteristics of the Ideal Design Studio Instructor in Design Education

  • Design studio is a unique type of course in architecture and interior design education, in which learning is based on student-instructor interaction and learning by doing; yet little research has been conducted on student perceptions of the ideal design studio instructor. The purpose of this paper was to identify characteristics of the ideal studio instructor from student perspectives. Three award-winning design studio instructors' studio activities were observed, and the three instructors and their 40 students were interviewed. As a result, characteristics in four categories were identified. The author argues that providing customized feedback and allowing student autonomy are the two distinct characteristics that students value in design studio as compared to students in other fields or type of courses. The findings provide valuable insights to design educators who would like to strengthen their teaching studios by listening to student voices.

유로코드를 이용한 주름웨브보의 최적설계 연구 (A Study on Optimum design of Corrugated web girder using Eurocode)

  • This paper describes the structural design and optimization of sinusoidally corrugated web girder by using EUROCODE (EN 1993-1-5). The optimum design methodology and characteristics of the optimal cross-section are discussed. We investigate a shear buckling and the concerned standards for corrugated web and explain the equations to obtain a critical stress according to buckling type. In order to perform optimization, we consider an objective function as minimum weight of the girder and use the constraint functions as slenderness ratio and stresses of flanges as well as corrugated web and deflection. Genetic Algorithm is adopted to search a global optimum solution for this mathematical model. For numerical example, the clamped girder under the concentrated load is considered, while the optimum cross-sectional area and design variables are analyzed. From the results of the adopted example, the optimum design program of the sinusoidally corrugated web girder is able to find the suitable solution which satisfied a condition subject to constraint functions. The optimum design shows the tendency to decrease the cross-sectional area with the yielding strength increase and increase the areas with load increase. Moreover, the corrugated web thickness shows a stable increase concerning the load.

3D CAD 와 3D프린팅을 연계한 공학설계교육 활용 (Applications of 3D CAD and 3D Printing in Engineering Design Education)

  • Recently, 3D printing has received increasing attention due to its boundless potentials. Because 3D printing starts from 3D geometry information, computer-aided design (CAD) is an essential technology to build 3D geometry data. These days, education of 3D CAD for engineering students has been changed from the theoretical lecture to practical design training using commercial CAD software. As a result, open-ended design projects have replaced the traditional theoretical examinations to evaluate students' outcomes. However, such design projects are not enough to evaluate students' outcomes because their results are expressed in two-dimensional ways. In this paper, applications of 3D printing in engineering design education are discussed by describing the procedure and outcomes of design projects. It was found that the use of 3D printing could improve students' outcomes by fabricating real physical models out of their designs.

STEAM 수업에서 나타난 초등학생의 창의적 설계 과정 질적 분석 (Qualitative Analysis of the Creative Design Process of Elementary School Students in STEAM Class)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the character of the creative design processes that appear at the creative design stage of the design thinking based on STEAM class and what factors affect the creative design process. Students who served as the subjects of this study were 4 elementary school students. We developed the design thinking based on STEAM program to look more specific the creative design process. The project was conducted with a total of 12 sheets of paper materials. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, the problem solving process of the design thinking based on STEAM classes is not anticipatory and is cyclical and complex. So, teachers should provide sufficient time for students to create and simulate ideas and accept the solving problems through trial and error. Second, Having presented the STEAM class as a practical problem in the real world, there was less fear of students' failure and heightened motivation and enthusiasm. Providing with the real topic and open questions in classrooms can lead to students' voluntary participation in the classroom. Third, In the design thinking based on STEAM class, students develop concrete ideas through visualization courses. The group of students made the best solutions through communication.

에스토니아의 소프트웨어 교육 정책 분석을 통한 교육과정 설계에 대한 시사점 고찰 (Study on the Implications about Curriculum Design through the Analysis of Software Education Policy in Estonia)

  • 교육 분야에서 2015년의 가장 큰 변화는 소프트웨어교육이 필수교육과정으로 전면 시작되는 해이다. 소프트웨어교육에 대한 세계적인 관심과 변화와 함께, 우리나라에서는 21세기 새로운 성장 동력으로써 소프트웨어 산업을 선정하였으며, 이를 위한 핵심과제로 교육 분야에서는 소프트웨어 교육이 선정되었다. 본 연구에서는 소프트웨어 교육과정 설계와 국가적인 정책을 마련하기 위한 참고모델로써 에스토니아의 소프트웨어 교육에 대해서 살펴보았다. 또한 에스토니아의 소프트웨어 교육 정책에 대한 시사점을 토대로 우리나라에서 추진하고 있는 소프트웨어 교육의 방향 설정과 교육과정 편성에 도움이 되는 내용을 살펴보고, 전문가 검증을 통해 연구의 타당도를 제시하였다.

실기 중심 의상디자인 교과 원격교육 도입방안 연구 - 패션일러스트레이션 교육을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Distance Learning Education for Fashion Illustration)

  • Distance Learning Education has been adopted as an alternative educational method to actively face the changing educational field. Fashion design education essentially requires not only a theoretical but also a practical process in which feedback comes through personal interactions between an instructor and a student. Hence, the existing WBI system exemplifies its limitations by applying only a one-way methodology that limit interactions based only on the theoretical texts. The objective of this study was to reveal the effects of an originally designed Distance Education program factoring in a teaching-learning methodology that addresses the practical demands of a fashion design program. So It analyzed the pre-existing conditions through a questionnaire survey of 472 students and 60 fashion design instructors to determine how the traditional fashion design education is different from other programs and which method is being applied. then, It designed and applied an original web-based distance educational system specifically incorporating the needs of the fashion design curriculum based on the data collected from the survey questionnaire.

  • 공학교육인증제도 아래 기초설계-요소설계-종합설계의 3단계의 교육체계로 시행되고 있는 공학설계교육 중, 기초설계에 서는 설계 개념, 절차의 공학 입문자에의 소개와 동시에 종합설계에 연결하여 효과적으로 사용되도록 수학적인 상세 설계보다는 창의성이 발휘된 설계안을 창안, 평가하는데 중점을 두고 이를 팀 활동을 통해 연습시킨다. 본 연구에서는 기초설계를 수강하고 종합설계를 수행하고 있는 기계 분야 학생들의 의견을 설문을 통해 수집하여 효과적인 기초설계 교육이 이루어지고 있는지 알아보았다. 전반적으로 학생들이 기초설계 교육의 중요성을 높게 인식하며 유용도도 높다고 인식하고 있으며, 교과 내용별 중요도 및 유용도, 교육기반 및 환경, 종합설계와의 연계 필요성 등 기타 평가사항들이 앞서 있었던 기계 분야 교수들에 대한 설문 결과와도 상당히 일치하고 있다. 학생들과 교수들의 인식이 잘 공감되고 있으며 실제 종합설계시 팀 활동과 아이디어 창안 등이 잘 활용되고 있는 것으로 미루어 기초설계 교육이 효과적으로 이루어지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 다만, 유용도가 중요도에 비해 약간 낮게 인식되는 점은 실습 과제를 흥미롭고 현실적인 것으로의 지속적 향상, 종합설계 초기에 기초설계 습득 내용이 응용되도록 유도하는 등의 유용도를 더 높이기 위한 방안과 노력이 필요하다는 것을 보여준다.

디자인 교육 강화를 위한 패션 일러스트레이션 교육과정의 개선방안 연구 (Fashion Illustration Curriculum an analysis in Pursuit of Better Design Education)

  • In today's college curriculum, fashion illustration courses are regarded as fundamental sources of knowledge in the fashion industry and the fine arts. The purpose of this study was to critically examine current curricula and educational objectives of fashion illustration courses offered by domestic fashion-related universities and academic institutions, in order to help the development of more effective tertiary level fashion education. Based on the results of data analysis, we suggest the following recommendations: Firstly, university courses should focus on drawing-centered fundamental education. Secondly, design education linked to fashion illustration should be strengthened. Thirdly, creativity-boosting design education is necessary. The range of curricula that could foster creativity and problem-solving skills in professionals should be enlarged, and future education should place emphasis on lateral and creative thinking. The result of this study are expected to contribute to the development of better curriculum in fashion-related education.
