This study examined the change in carbon (C) storage of soil, forest floor and coarse woody debris (CWD) for different thinning intensities in Pinus densiflora stands 4 years after the treatment. Two study stands were located in Jeongseon (Stand 1) and Gwangneung Experiment Forest (Stand 2). Three plots for different thinning intensities based on stand density were established at each stand in 2008; control plot (0%), T20 plot (20%) and T30 plot (30%) in Stand 1 and control plot (0%), T39 plot (39%) and T74 plot (74%) in Stand 2, respectively. The C storage of soil (0-50 cm), forest floor and CWD was measured in 2012. Total C storage of T30 plot ($109.80t{\cdot}C{\cdot}ha^{-1}$) was significantly higher than that of control plot ($86.69t{\cdot}C{\cdot}ha^{-1}$) in Stand 1. In stand 2, total C storage of T74 plot ($97.02t{\cdot}C{\cdot}ha^{-1}$) was significantly higher than that of control plot ($72.04t{\cdot}C{\cdot}ha^{-1}$) and T39 plot ($63.25t{\cdot}C{\cdot}ha^{-1}$). Total C storage of the heaviest thinned plot was the highest in each study stand. Since this study examined initial effects of thinning on C storage of soil, forest floor and CWD, further studies would be necessary to evaluate the long-term effects.
Long-term fertilizer application have been carried out at experimental farm of the Yeongnam Crop Experiment Station from 1967 to 1983 to obtain basic informations about longterm effect of fertilizer regime, especially, compost and chemical fertilizer on the soil chemical properties and the rice growth. 1. Rice yields obtained from the non-fertilized plot and PK applied plot were significantly reduced compared to NPK applied plot by 43% and 53%, respectively, primarily due to decrease of leaf area, crop growth rate, number of panicles and number of spikelets and delayed flowering. 2. No visible phosphorus-symptom and yield loss were obserbed at the plot that phosphorus was not included even though phosphorus content in the soil and rice plant were lowered. 3. The plot that was not received potassium resulted in yield loss by 9% compared to NPK applied plot due to decrease in potassium content in soil and rice plant, and spikelt number. 4. Available phosphorus, silica, and exchangeable potassium in soil significantly increased by adding compost to NPK applied plot and hence, increased grin yield by 6 to 9% compared to applied plot through improvement of nutrient uptake efficiency. 5. Grain yield of compost applied plot lowered by 30% than NPK applied plot due to decreased nutrient uptake efficiency and delayed rice growth while this yield was higher than Non-fertilized plot.
Field experiment was conducted to assess the influence of liquid compost supplemented with chemical fertilizer on the rice growth and yield in 2005. Treatments consisted of liquid compost supplemented with chemical fertilize.(LCSC), liquid manure(LM), chemical fertilizer(CF), LCSC 50% + 50%CF, LCSC 75% + 25%CF. The plant height and tiller's number in plots of 100% basal application plot by LCSC and LM plot were lower than that of chemical fertilizer. But in the plot of basal application by LCSC and top dressing by chemical fertilizer, the height and tilters of rice were significantly difference with LM application plot. And the leaf color the plots by LCSC and chemical fertilizer was darker than that of the LM application plot. In plots by LCSC treatment, number of panicles per hill was higher that of LM plot. As the plot of 100% basal application by LCSC was fertilized, the yield of rice was decreased compared with chemical fertilizer. But the rice yield of basal fertilization by LCSC and top-dressing by chemical fertilizer was 7% increased compared with LM plot. The application plots by LCSC + chemical fertilizer plot were maintained productivity of rice, the rice should be fertilized with the basal application of LCSC and top-dressing of chemical fertilizer. The quality of brown rice was best in LM and LCSC plot, whereas in chemical fertilizer plot, it was the worst by increased of protein content. The results indicates that the application of LCSC + chemical fertilizer improves quality of rice rather quantity.

This study was conducted to investigate effects on the co-situs application of coated urea complex fertilizer in dry seeded rice in Dukpyong series soil. Number of spikelet established in 15 days after seeding, conventional plot was $120ea\;per\;m^2$. and whole layer placement(WLP), co-situs application 70%(CSA70%) plot and co-situs application 50%(CSA50%) plot were 146, 126 and $120ea\;per\;m^2$, respectively. There was not concentration obstacle in co-situs application plot in spite of closing application between seed and coated urea complex fertilizer. The amount of $NH_4-N$ into soil solution in different growth stage was highest in WLP 70% plot compare to other treatment. N uptaken amount was highest in CSA 70% plot as $94kg\;ha^{-1}$ compare to $90kg\;ha^{-1}$ of WLP 79% plot and $82kg\;ha^{-1}$ of CSA 50% plot. However, N use efficiency of CSA 50% plot was highest among treatments as 48%. Rice yield was highest in CSA 70% plot as 102% compared to conventional plot.
It is common to check the validity of an assumed model with the heavy use of diagnostics tools when conducting data analysis with regression techniques; however, outliers and influential data points often distort the regression output in undesired manner. Jang and Anderson-Cook (2013) proposed a graphical method called a firework plot for exploratory analysis that could visualize the trace of the impact of possible outlying and/or influential data points on individual regression coefficients and the overall residual sum of squares(SSE) measure. They developed 3-D plot as well as pair-wise plot for the appropriate measures of interest. In this paper, the approach was extended further to tell the strength of their approach; in addition, a more meaningful interpretation was possible by adding a measure not mentioned in their paper. This approach was applied to the mixture experiment because we felt that a detailed analysis of statistical measure sensitivity is required in a small experiment.

It is inevitable to have cutting line to get the 2D pattern from 3D body surface. In this paper the efficiency of curvature plot as a cutting line in the process of flattening 3D surface was investigated. As reference, basic clothing construction line was adopted to divide the 3D surface into small blocks to make the flattening process easy. Female dummy as well as human body were scanned and surface of the upper body was segmented using curvature plot and basic constructing line. 2D tight-fit pattern was developed using three software, the RapidForm 2004, 2C-AN and Yuka CAD. Gap between clothes and body, and the clothing pressure on the body was observed to determine the fit of the clothes. As results, clothes constructed with blocks divided by curvature plot displayed a similar level of tight fit as compared with those by basic construction line. It was found that curvature plot is effective method as a segmentation of the 3D surface even for the actual body which does not have any previous reference line. It is expected that application of curvature plot will be expanded in 3D apparel technology.
The multivariate empirical distribution function could be defined when its distribution function can be estimated. It is known that bivariate empirical distribution functions could be visualized by using Step plot and Quantile plot. In this paper, the multivariate empirical distribution plot is proposed to represent the multivariate empirical distribution function on the unit square. Based on many kinds of empirical distribution plots corresponding to various multivariate normal distributions and other specific distributions, it is found that the empirical distribution plot also depends sensitively on its distribution function and correlation coefficients. Hence, we could suggest five goodness-of-fit test statistics. These critical values are obtained by Monte Carlo simulation. We explore that these critical values are not much different from those in text books. Therefore, we may conclude that the proposed test statistics in this work would be used with known critical values with ease.

This study was conducted to investigate the selected chemical properties of soils in Saururus chinensis Baill (Chinese lizard's tail) cultivation fields to provide optimal fertilizer application rates and to examine the growth and pharmaco-consitituents of Saururus chinensis Baill as influenced by different amounts of nitrogen (N) fertilizer applications. Based on the results of selected soil chemical properties in 37 cultivation sites of the plant, soil pH, organic matter content, and exchangeable $K^{+}$ concentration were lower than optimal values for cultivating general medicinal crops even though relatively high standard deviations were found in some of the values. At the harvesting stage of the plant aerial parts, soil pH, electrical conductivity (EC), available $P_2O_5$, and exchangeable $Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Na^{+}$ decreased as comparing with those before transplanting the plant, whereas the concentration of exchangeable $K^{+}$ increased in the plot treated with N 100% and compost. Fresh weight of the plant aerial parts were highest, 492.5kg/10, in the N 100% treatment plot. Correlation equation between N levels treated (X) and yield of the plant aerial parts (Y) presented as $Y=-2.1609X^2+30.082X+344.12$($R^2= 0.7113$) and the optimal rate of N fertilizer application for the plant was 6.6kg/10a. Carbon concentrations in the plant were not different among the different N levels applied. N and K concentrations in the plant were highest in the plot of N 100% with compost applications, the highest P concentration was in N 100% plot, and the highest Ca and S concentrations were in N 200% plot. Quercetin and quercitrin were highest in the N 150% plot and tannin was highest in N 100% or N 100% with compost application plot.

This study was conducted to determine the carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) response of litterfall components as affected by N addition in compound fertilizer in a Korean red pine (Pinus densiflora S. et Z.) stand in southern Korea. Litterfall in a mature red pine stand was collected for two years following compound fertilizer application ($N_3P_4K_1$; $P_4K_1$) and no fertilization (control). The C concentration of litterfall components was not significantly (P > 0.05) different between the $N_3P_4K_1$ and the control plots, whereas the N concentration of the litterfall components was significantly higher in the $N_3P_4K_1$ plot than in the control plot. The $N_3P_4K_1$ and $P_4K_1$ additions induced a lower C/N ratio of litterfall components compared with the control plot. Annual C and N fluxes via litterfall components were not affected by the $N_3P_4K_1$ addition over the study period, except for reproduction litter. Annual N fluxes via reproduction litter were significantly higher in the $N_3P_4K_1$ plot than in the control plot. Thus, the $N_3P_4K_1$ and $P_4K_1$ additions could modify differently nutrient distribution of the forest floor and mineral soils in a red pine stand. These results indicate that N concentration and C/N ratio in litterfall components are more susceptible to fertilizer application than the C response in litterfall components.

This pot experiment was conducted to investigate the changes of leaching in percolated water of paddy soil in which rice was cultivated in conditions of 0%, 5%. 30% addition of bituminous and anthracite fly ash respectively in greenhouse. pH in percolated water was higher in non cultivated plot than in cultivated plot. pH of the fly ash treated plot was higher than that of the control plot. pH in the cultivated plot decreased gradually during the cultivation. The contents of $NH_4-N$, $NO_3-N$ and K in percolated water decreased rapidly after mid-July, and was very low in the cultivated plot. Over the cultivation time, P contents in percolated water was very low. $SiO_2$, contents in percolated water decreased rapidly after June. Na contents in percolated water was highest in mid-June and then decreased gradually. In the cultivated plot, Ca contents in percolated water was higher than that in the control plot. During the cultivation, Ca contents in percolated water decreased gradually. But, in later-term of cultivation. Ca contents in percolated water was relatively Mgh. Mg contents in percolated water decreased after mid-July, but decreased continuously till the later-term of cultivation. EC in the percolated water was highest in mid-June. and then decreased gradually. EC of fly ash treated plot was higher than that of the control plot. The soil pH was increased and phosphate content in the soil was accumulated very high by application of fly ashes in paddy field after rice cultivation. Fly ash treatment did not increase the contents of elements in percolated water compared with the control plot. The difference between anthracite and bituminous fly ash was not so clear. Fly ash treatment, inhibited early growth and tillering. But, in later-term of cultivation, the inhibition effects of nonproductive tillering was expected. Fly ash treatment will be good if it was applicated after last year's harvest because leaching would happen over fallowing time. Contents of inorganic elements in percolated water of fly ash treated plot was not so high compared with that in the control plot.
