  • This study was used particleboard with urea-formaldehyde resin and cross linking vinyl resin. Manufactured particleboard had high cross linking vinyl resin content that internal bonding strength was low value but flexural strength was increased. For emission test of particleboard using VOC Analyzer, it was confirmed that more cross linking vinyl resin had reduced 4 volatile organic compounds (Toluene, Ethylbenzen, Xylene, Styrene) but also TVOC (Total VOC), 5 VOCs (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzen, Xylene, Styrene) and formaldehyde emissions from manufactured particleboard were also lower emission factor than particleboard with only urea formaldehyde resin.

  • The volatile organic compound (VOC) Analyzer is a portable device to measure the four main aromatic hydrocarbon gases: toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene and styrene. With the VOC Analyzer, a semiconductor gas sensor eliminates the need for the carrier gas which is required for conventional gas chromatographs. In addition, since the semiconductor gas sensor is supersensitive to gas components, it is not necessary to use a conventional gas concentrator or other complicated equipment. Compared with other measurement methods, the VOC analyzer is useful for measuring toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene and styrene in wood-based panel because of its ease in obtaining field results and repeating the test. The VOC Analyzer primarily measures four VOC in the air. In this study, we designed a test method of VOC measurement for particle board. A specimen was sealed in 3L polyester bag, after 96hours we could measure maximum VOC emission level that is a stabilized VOC Value. For easy, fast and economic testing of TVOC emission from wood-based panel, we developed the test method with the VOC Analyzer. The VOC Analyzer is expected to gain widespread use in the manufacturing field where a quick and easy test for VOC emission from wood-based panel is required. Furthermore, the VOC Analyzer promises to become an easier, faster and more economic technique than the currently used standard methods.

  • The Korean defence industry has grown rapidly since the 1970s. In 2015, it generated more than 168 billion won in economic revenue, and exports exceeded 3.6 billion won. With the development of the defense industry, the level of the quality management system for major contractors has improved substantially, but there are many areas of the quality management system that still need improvement for small subcontractors. Therefore, in this paper, we develop a methodology to improve the quality management system for small subcontractors. Based on 101 collected cases, this methodology results in generally improved effects and generally improved methods. By applying the Russian Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) concept of a contradiction matrix, three improvement matrices are derived. A developed improvement matrix is the main support tool of this methodology. This methodology consists of four tasks and eight subtasks, and it can be used as a support tool for creative problem solving by the quality assurance department and the quality assurance manager for small subcontractors.

  • Defense exports have overgrown in a short period, and items have been diversified with advanced high-end equipment, but exports have been stagnant due to the global economic recession and fierce competition. Weapons importers in the global market are diversified, volatility is higher, and global defense companies are also expanding their global value chain (GVC) By participating in the GVC of a global defense company, the defense SME can grow into a competitive company with specialized technology, rather than participating as a partner of a domestic system company. It is time to prepare an export promotion support plan. In this study, we selected five global companies with high value for the implementation of offset and general considerations on domestic SMEs' entry into the international parts supply chain and related cases, and investigated GVC entry requirements, the current status of cooperation partners, and the perceptions of GVC entry, through local surveys in Korea and overseas. Also, by considering the export target comprehensively, GVC stage, and the level of export competitiveness of domestic SMEs, strategies for promoting GVC participation of defense SMEs and improvements in government policies were derived and presented.

  • A phytosociological survey carried out using the Z.-M. School’s methodology and system of numerical-classification analyses, this study sought to classify the syntaxa of forest vegetation on Mt. Byeokbang and to collect basic data on the transitional zones of the southern Korean peninsula’s coastal region. The syntaxa were classified into three physiognomic types and nine communities, including (1) evergreen coniferous forests (Eurya japonica-Pinus thunbergii community and Ardisia japonica-Pinus densiflora community), (2) summer-green, broad-leaved forests (Chloranthus japonicus-Quercus serrate community, Syneilesis palmata-Quercus mongolica community, Quercus acutissima community, Carpinus turczaninovii var. coreana community, Fraxinus siebolidiana-Quercus dentate community, and Deutzia glabrata-Lindera erythrocarpa community), and (3) artificial afforestation (Alnus firma afforestation). The Chloranthus japonicus-Quercus serrata community, Syneilesis palmata-Quercus mongolica community, Fraxinus siebolidiana-Quercus dentata community, Carpinus turczaninovii var. coreana, community and Deutzia glabrata-Lindera erythrocarpa community were closely evaluated for national vegetation naturalness. It was confirmed that the Carpinus turczaninovii var. coreana community was endemic to Korea. Most syntaxa were defined as a secondary forestation due to various human activities (e.g., forest fires, logging, digging, climbing, etc.). The results of a canonical-correspondence analysis (CCA) showed that human activities, altitude, humus depth, rock cover ratio, slope, etc. were the main ecological factors determining the classified plant communities’ distribution patterns.

  • The composition of fatty acids in bakery products from 35 bakeries in Seoul was analyzed by GCFID. The contents of crude fat in bakery products were represented 9.54-44.30% in pastries, 14.67-41.22% in cookies and 7.63-28.15% in whipped cream cakes. The total saturated fatty acid content in pastries, cookies and whipped cream cakes were 12.8-75.1 %, 8.7-81.6% and 50.2-85.9% respectively. The proportion of trans fatty acids in pastries ranged from 0.00 to 3.37%. Cookies and whipped cream cakes were represented varying amount of trans fatty acid with highest value of 4.55% in cookies and 2.13% in whipped cream cakes. Total estimated daily intakes of fatty acids from pastries and whipped cream cakes were as follows: 1.2 g/day/person for saturated fatty acids and 0.014 g/day/person for trans fatty acids.
