Friction Welding of Dissimilar Press Punch Materials and Its Evaluation by AE (신소재 금형펀치의 이종재 마찰용접 개발과 AE품질평가를 위한 연구)

  • The complete joining method for dissimilar press punch materials and its real-time evaluation method is not available at present. Brazing method has been used for joining them, but it is known that the welded joint by the brazing has the lower bonding efficiency and reliability than the diffusion welding. The friction welding with a diffusion mechanism in bonding was applied in this study. This work was carried out to determine the proper friction welding conditions and to analyze mechanical properties of friction welded joints of sintered carbide tool materials (SKNM50 for the blade part of press punch) to alloy steel (SCM440 for the shank part of press punch) using aluminum (A6061 for the interlayer material) as an insert material between the sintered carbide tool materials and the alloy steel. In addition, acoustic emission test was carried out during friction welding to evaluate the weld quality.

  • This paper presents an iterative learning control scheme for industrial manipulators. Based upon the frequency-domain analysis, the input update law of the learning controller is given together with a sufficient condition for the convergence of the iterative process in the frequency domain. The proposed learning control scheme is structurally simple and computationally efficient since it is independent joint control depending only on locally measured variables and it does not involve the computation of complicated nonlinear manipulator dynamics. Moreover, it is capable of canceling the unmodeled dynamics of the manipulator without even the parametric model. Several important aspects of the learning scheme inherent in the frequency-domain design are discussed and the control performance is demonstrated through computer simulations.

  • Bifid mandibular condyle (BMC) is an uncommon morphological variant of the mandibular condyle. Although authors have proposed various etiologies for BMC, no consensus has emerged. In addition, varying findings have been reported regarding the epidemiological parameters of BMC (e.g., prevalence, gender ratio, and age), possibly due to its low incidence. BMC is occasionally associated with symptoms of the temporomandibular joint, such as ankylosis, pain, and trismus; however, it is difficult to detect this condition on conventional radiographs. This study reports a case of BMC with radiographic findings, and reviews the literature on the epidemiology of BMC.

A Comparative study on the solder joint fatigue under thermal and mechanical loading conditions (열하중과 굽힘 하중 조건에서의 솔더조인트 피로 특성 비교연구)

  • In this study, two types of fatigue tests were conducted. Firs, cyclic bending tests were performed using the micro-bending tester. Second, thermal fatigue tests were conducted using a pseudo power cycling machine which was newly developed for a realistic testing condition. A three-dimensional finite element analysis model was constructed. A finite element analysis using ABAQUS was performed to extract the applied stress and strain in the solder joints. Creep deformation was dominant in thermal fatigue and plastic deformation was main parameter for bending failure. From the inelastic energy dissipation per cycle versus fatigue life curve, it can be found that the bending fatigue life is longer than the thermal fatigue life.

  • A thermo-elastic system in the production machine has highly nonlinear dynamic characteristics. In general, the finite element method is utilized for accurate analysis. However, it requires large computing time. Thus, thermo-elastic systems are usuallymodeled as electric and fluid system using lumped para,eter. In this paper. we propose the bondgraph model and transient simulation methodology of thermo-elastic system in consideration of various boundary and joint contact conditions. Consequently, the proposed method ensures a possibility of its on-line compensation about undesirable phenomena by using real time estimate process and electronic cooling device for thermal appropriate behavior. Thermo-elastic model consisting of bush and shaft including contact condition is presented.

  • The main faults at cable joint are mainly originate from double layered structure, which is composed of different kinds of materials such as XLPE/EPDM laminatest. In this paper, to investigate the effect of interfacial condition and coagents on dielectric strength of XLPE/EPDM, we prepared XLPE/grease/EPDM, XLPE/grease + coagent/EPDM laminates. Dielectric strength of the XLPE/EPDM laminates pasted with the grease compounded crosslinking coagent (TMPTA, TMPTMA) is higher than that of the laminates paseted with the grease without coagent.

  • In this paper, we described the basic elements(flowabiligy, fillingability, elapsed time, pumpability, no-vibrating effects, and etc.) required for the application and quality control of the super flowing concrete(SFC) in Top Down site. Also, manufactured sand and fly ash were used for investigating characteristics of SFC through various experiments(mix design, optimum mix condition) before placing the concrete in site. As a result of this project, the developed SFC shown high flowability and self-fillingability in the joint good enough for the requirement. Futhermore, inner uniformity of the no-vibrated concrete was verified by testing reformed space. Therefore, quality control and compressive strength(360kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$) can be secured by using SFC even without vibrating.

  • Brachymetatarsia of the first metatarsal is uncommon. It may occur as a congenital condition. Hallux varus is the name given to a medially deviated position of the first metatarsophalangeal joint with a nonpurchasing hallux in varus position. To have a patient with not only both hallux varus and brachymetatarsia, but for the brachymetatarsia to occur about the first metatarsal, is extremly rare. We experienced a case of the brachymetatarsia of the first metatarsal with hallux varus treated by callotasis. Excellent cosmetical and funtional outcome were obtained. So we reporting the case with a review of the literatures.

  • Fungal infections are rarely responsible for arthritis. Few cases of fungal arthritis have been reported, even in immunocompromised hosts susceptible to low-virulence organisms. Herein, the authors report the first case of Candida tropicalis arthritis in a child with a solid tumor. A 13-year-old boy with Ewing's sarcoma developed arthritis in his elbow during the neutropenic period after chemotherapy. Despite treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics, his condition did not improve and serial blood cultures failed to reveal any causative organisms. After surgical drainage, culture of the joint fluid revealed the presence of C. tropicalis. Itraconazole treatment was started and after 3 months of therapy, the patient completely recovered full elbow function.

  • To reduce lateral force of traditional plunger type piston in the swash plate type hydraulic piston pumps and motors, we have proposed rod type piston with ball joint on both ends. We have studied the theoretical reaction force on two types of piston moving in the cylinder block bore. and made an experiment for the resistance force measurement on a reciprocating motion of plunger and rod type piston, changing the test condition such as swash plate angel and supply oil pressure and so on. As a result. a rod type piston has more smaller resistance force, about 29%. than a plunger type one.
