A Study on Promotion of Metal-Plating Industry in Korea(I) (우리나라도금공업의 육성에 관한 연구(I))

  • The Objective of this study is to analyze structural and operational aspects of the govern-ment, its associations, industries and academic associations related to metal-plating industry, and thereby recommend ways of promotion of subsector, which is yet to be developed. Stages for the implementation are proposed as follows. 1) Stage One: Preparation for formation of proper atmosphere. ⅰ) Clearance of unlicenced metal-plating factories. ⅱ) Strengthening of functions of the association. ⅲ) Provision of incentives through the tax system. 2) Stage-Two : Modernization and maturity ⅰ) Introduction of system for indicating quality of products. ⅱ) Implementation of joint and cooperative-based programs ⅲ) Technical advancement of the closed system and anti-pollution treatment. 3) Stage Three : Settlement ⅰ) Systematic use of statistics and information. ⅱ) Standardization of quality of the products.

Tolerance Analysis of Spline Shaft Assembly (스플라인 샤프트 공차해석)

  • Every mechanical part for mass production has dimensions with tolerances in engineering drawing. Tolerance is given to guarantee assemble parts together satisfying functional requirements and dimensional constraints. Tolerance is essential factor for standardization of parts or assembly and has huge influence on manufacturing cost. It will be desirable to have tolerances as broad as possible for minimizing manufacturing cost. This paper describes tolerance analysis of u-joint assembly that is a part of automobile steering system. Within the range of tolerances of parts, accumulated effect is estimated by arithmetic calculation, probability theory and Monte carlo simulation. Each result is compared to investigate the method for increasing productivity.

  • The military communication equipment is required the high reliability for operating adequate functions under severe conditions. This reliability is the essential element for the quality of the product, for the uncontrolled factors, such as the clearance, damage of the material, the reduction of stiffness, which are the designer is unable to handle. In this paper, the uncertainty for the design was supposed to the probability model for the military communication equipment, and the average of the objective function was minimized for reducing design uncertainty. The reliability-based design optimization which was implemented the limit state function was formulated into the mathematical model, so the reliable optimized structure was implemented than the base-line design.

Weldability of Aluminized Sheet Steels for Automobile Application(II) (Effect of Coating Conditions on Laser Weld Quality) (자동차용 알루미늄도금 강판의 용접성(II) (도금조건이 레이저용접 품질에 미치는 영향))

  • Laser weldability of aluminized steels of 0.8mm thick has been investigated. Test materials were cut from the commercial steels that were produced at the Coating Mill of POCOS. Test coupons for welding were prepared by using a conventional shearing machine and no additional edge treatment was peformed. Nd:YAG laser welding system was mainly applied to make weld specimens. Test results revealed that almost no spattering was observed even though the welding was peformed with no overlap joint clearance. Bead quality of aluminized steel laser weld was smooth and stable. According to x-ray inspection results, it was proved that the laser welds of aluminized steels were metallurgically defect free.

Competitive Advantages and Disadvantages of Trans-Siberian Railway Route -Case study of Korea and Japan-

  • TSR (Trans-Siberian Railway) route is losing price competitiveness versus Deep Sea route in the transportation from East Asia to Europe, including Moscow. To further attracting the containers to the TSR route, it will be necessary (1) to keep competitive through rate, linked to fluctuating Deep Sea rate; (2) to strengthen speed advantage; (3) to enforce seamless transportation system, including simplified customs clearance procedures. In transportation to Central Asia from East Asia (Korea and Japan), TSR is competitive versus TCR (Trans-China Railway), depending on destinations. Korea has been the leader in revitalizing the TSR route since 2000. Key contributors were affluent export containers to Russia and Central Asia, port of Busan, efficient maritime transport network to Far East Russia, and Korean forwarders' persistent efforts for activating the market. Korea and Japan have a possibility of cooperation in using the TSR route efficiently, such as organizing a joint block train to a same destination.

  • There is the high possibility of crack initiation from mechanical joints, which are widely used in aircraft fuselages, due to the development of stress concentration and contact pressure. In this paper, the mixed-mode stress intensity factors at the surface and deepest points of an inclined quarter elliptical corner crack in mechanical joints are analyzed by the weight function method. The coefficients included in the weight function are obtained by finite element analyses for reference loadings. Critical angle at which mode I stress intensity factor becomes maximum is determined by analyzing the variation of stress intensity factors along incline angle of crack and the effects of the amount of clearance and crack depth on the critical angle are investigated.

Study on the Relationship Between Emission Signals and Weld Defect for In-Process Monitoring in CO2 Laser Welding of Zn-Coated Steel (아연코팅 강판의 CO2 레이저용접시 인프로세스 모니터링을 위한 측정신호와 용접결함과의 관련성 연구)

  • In this study, the plasma induced by $CO_2$ laser lap welding of 6t Zn coated steel used for ship building was measured using photodiodes and a microphone. Then, the welding phenomenon with gap clearance of lap joint was compared with RMS-treated signal. Thus, we found that intensity of the RMS-treated signal increased with Zn vaporization; further, the presence of defects results in rapid variations with the RMS value as a function of lap-joint parameters. Besides, the FFT value of the raw signal with variations of changing welding parameters was calculated, and then the calculated FFT frequency value was set as the bandwidth of digital filter for a more accurate in-process monitoring. The RMS values were acquired by filtering the raw signal. By matching the weld beads and the calculated RMS values, we confirmed that there is a strong relationship between the signals and the defects.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze, from a kinematical point of view, the high jump techniques of three women's high jump winners at the IAAF World Championships, Daegu 2011. The trends for the techniques of the world's top high jumpers were examined, with a view toward adapting these techniques to the physical characteristics of Korean women's high jumpers. It was valuable that Di Martino, who was the shortest in height, was able to win a medal by using a single arm swing take-off technique, along with a half flexed leading leg swing to attain a deep arch and clear the bar. This showed that the world's top athletes used jumping techniques with no decrease in the run-up velocity at the take-off. Furthermore, It appeared that the knee joint angle at take-off had a direct effect on the body position at take-off (H1).

재생냉각용 연소기의 브레이징 공정 개발

  • 액체로켓엔진에 사용되는 2000psi이상의 고압 연소실(Combustion Chamber)의 냉각은 내피(Inner Shell)에 기계 가공된 냉각통로(Cooling Channel)로 냉각제를 흘려보내는 재생냉각방식이 널리 사용되며 기계 가공된 냉각 통로는 외피(Outer Shell)에 의해서 지지 밀봉된다. 일반적으로 내피 재료는 순수한 구리보다 강도가 우수하고 열전도도는 유사한 구리합금을 사용하고, 외피는 강도가 우수한 스테인레스 강을 사용하여 브레이징 접합된 구조를 형성한다. 브레이징 공정은 조립품을 약 $450^{\cire}C$ 이상의 액상선을 갖는 삽입금속(Filler Metal)을 사용하여 적당한 온도($450^{\cire}C$ ~ 모재의 고상선)에서 가열하여 접합시키는 방법으로, 용융 금속의 젖음 현상(Wetting Phenomena), 접합 틈새(Joint Clearance)로의 용융 삽입금속의 유입(Capillary Phenomena)과 접합 계면의 반응을 통해서 접합이 이루어진다. 이는 일반적인 접합 공정과 비교하여 모재의 변형이 적고, 이종 금속 간의 접합이 용이하며, 복잡한 부품을 정밀하게 접합할 수 있는 장점이 있으나, 접합될 제품의 표면 상태 및 분위기(Atmosphere), 접합될 부품간의 조립 틈새, 가열 싸이클(Heating Cycle) 등에 대한 공정 확립 및 관리가 매우 중요하다. 재생냉각 구조를 갖는 연소실은 우선 접합면의 형상이 매우 복잡하여 균일한 접합 틈새를 유지하면서 접합시키기가 매우 어려우며, 고온, 고압의 환경에서 작동하므로 일부 접합면이 접합되지 않을 경우 내피의 변형 및 파괴가 발생하고, 브레이징 시 용융된 삽입금속이 냉각통로 내로 유입될 경우 연소 시 이부근에서 재료의 용융이 발생될 수 있다. 따라서, 이러한 현상을 방지하기 위해서는 진공 분위기 하에서 적절한 접합 틈새를 유지할 수 있는 공정 및 장비의 개발이 필요하다.

  • The coordination of a three-level supply chain consisting of a supplier, a retailer, and a discount outlet (DCO) is studied here. We assume that the product is sold in two consecutive periods a Normal Sales Period (NSP) and a subsequent Clearance Salvage Period (CSP). A benchmark case is studied Initially in which the supply chain is coordinated by a s1n91e agent. Thus, the supplier the retailer, and the discount outlet design a common system that allows centralized decision making about stocking quantities, markdown time schedules, and policies on disposing of leftovers to deliver the greatest possible expected supply chain profit. Next, we consider a decentralized supply chain. Here, decisions are made without coordination. The objective is to maximize an individual party's expected profits. The focus of the study is on the following questions: what factors make the coordination an effective approach for the supply chain? How do we coordinate the supply chain so as to maximize the supply chain Joint expected profit? These and other related study issues are explored in this paper.
