This paper discussed motivation, some theories of motivation and motivation of library personnel. The most important aspect of any organization is its workforce. Motivation arouses, energizes, influences and sustains behaviour and performance of employees. Motivating factors include extrinsic factors which pertain to the conditions under which a job is performed and intrinsic motivators which contribute to job satisfaction and subsequently increase productivity. Two levels of motivation were identified in the library: the need-factor motivation and the profession-related motivation. Need-factor motivation is well-pronounced in the lower cadre of library staff such as library assistants, clerical staff, and porters who set their priority on economic needs. The profession-related motivation occurs among professionally trained librarians whose motivation hinges self-fulfillment derived from professional growth and development. Other motivating factor in the library is job design which includes job rotation, job enlargement, and job enrichment. Job design specifies the contents or methods of any job in such a way that various requirements of a job can be effectively satisfied. Adequate motivation of library employees lies with the managers because they generally control work distribution, freedom and autonomy, work challenge Remove, staff development and training, and advancement opportunities. The managers are urged to create enabling environment to ensure improved commitment, satisfaction, and productivity of employees in the library.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of nursing organizational culture and head nurse's leadership on the job satisfaction. Methods : For the purpose, a structured questionnaire was conducted. The subjects were 232 nurses who were working in the 2 general hospitals. The data were collected from Sep. 1 to Sep. 20 of 2006. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, t-test, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, and multiple regression. Results : The dominant organizational culture of nursing organization was rank-oriented culture. The mean score of head nurse's transformational leadership and transactional leadership was 3.20 and 2.79 respectively. The best group of job satisfaction was affiliative-oriented culture group(3.31). The score of job satisfaction of transformational leadership's group was higher than that of transactional leadership's group. Job satisfaction was positively correlated with affiliative-oriented culture, innovative-oriented culture, task-oriented culture, and transformational leadership. Concerning of the job satisfaction, affiliative-oriented culture, rotation time and age explained 25.7%. Conclusion : The organizational culture and head nurse's leadership was correlated with job satisfaction. Especially affiliative-oriented culture and task-oriented culture influenced the job satisfaction. Based on the results, further development should be continued to develop the effective head nurse's leadership and organizational culture to improve the job satisfaction of nurses.
The study was conducted to investigate the burnout of firefighters. The subjects were 223 firefighters in C-Do. The instruments used for this study were a survey of general characteristics(10 items), burnout(23 items). Analysis of data was done by use of mean percentage, t-test, ANOVA, stepwise multiple regression with SAS program. The results of this study are as follows; 1. Burnout according to general characteristics were showed significant difference in job-aptitude(F=6.30, P<.001), health status(F=5.92, P<.001), education(t=6.09, P<.01), working place rotation(t=2.59, P<.01), call number/week(F=3.28, P<.01), job-burden(F=4.45, P<.01), paper-job burden(F=3.87, P<.05). 2. Category score of burnout were showed the higher score in the lowed personal accomplishment(3.29). 3. Category score of burnout according to aptitude were showed difference each other. 4. Predicting factor of burnout were paper-job burden, health status, job-burden(20.99%).
Purpose: This study aimed to present and test a structural model for describing and predicting the factors affecting subjective career satisfaction of nurses experiencing rotation and to develop human resources management strategies for promoting their career satisfaction related to rotation. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we recruited 233 nurses by convenience sampling who had over 1 year of career experience and who had experienced rotation at least once at G university hospital. Data were collected from August to September in 2016 using self-reported questionnaires. The exogenous variables consisted of rotation perception and rotation stress. Endogenous variables consisted of career growth opportunity, work engagement, and subjective career satisfaction. A hypothetical model was tested by asymptotically distribution-free estimates, and model goodness of fit was examined using absolute fit, incremental fit measures. Results: The final model was approved and had suitable fit. We found that subjective career satisfaction was directly affected by rotation stress (${\beta}=.20$, p=.019) and work engagement (${\beta}=.58$, p<.001), indirectly affected by rotation perception (${\beta}=.43$, p<.001) through career growth opportunity and work engagement. However, there was no total effect of rotation stress on subjective career satisfaction (${\beta}=-.09$, p=.270). Career growth opportunity directly and indirectly affected subjective career satisfaction (${\beta}=.29$, p<.001; ${\beta}=.28$, p<.001). These variables accounted for 65% of subjective career satisfaction. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to establish systematic and planned criteria for rotation so that nurses can grow and develop through sustained work and become satisfied with their career.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to develop and validate a Korean-adapted version of the job expectations scale for dental hygienists. Methods: To achieve this goal, a comprehensive methodology was employed, including frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis (maximum likelihood, direct oblimin rotation), confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach's α reliability, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA (Duncan post-hoc test) were performed. Results: The Korean version of job expectations scale for dental hygienists comprised 21 items in the personal domain and 5 items in the social domain. The scale demonstrated high construct validity, convergent validity, discriminant validity, and reliability were found. While dental hygienists were found to have higher expectations in the their personal domain than the social domain, expectations in the social domain were higher among male hygienists, those with a bachelor's degree or higher, those in regular permanent employment, and those working in hospital-level or higher facilities. Conclusions: Job expectations is a more comprehensive construct than job roles or professional identity. We anticipate that the instrument will be widely used to analyze trends in job expectations in response to changes in societal values regarding to dental hygienists, the gap between realities and ideals within the dental hygiene profession, and policy considerations.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of person-job fit, which consists of educational fit and skill fit, on employees' intrinsic job satisfaction. To the end, the 10-year balanced panel data of the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study(KLIPS) by the Korea Labor Institute (KLI) for 2008-2017 are utilized. This study analyzes 12,730 observations by 1,273 employees by using fixed effect model, random effect model, and pooled OLS estimation method. The empirical results are as follows: First, it is founded that educational fit and skill fit seem affect job satisfaction positively. Second, the negative effects of over-education are clear and the negative effects of under-education are unclear, while the effects of over-skilled and under-skilled are insignificant statistically. Third, the results imply that the size of effect of over-education on intrinsic job satisfaction is larger than that of the effect of over-skilled. Forth, it is shown that the use of fixed effect model is more effective and trustworthy than that of random effect model and pooled OLS estimation method, implying that the effect size of coefficients which are estimated by pooled OLS method and random effect model are likely over-estimated. The empirical results above imply that firms and employees should focus on solving over-education issue before all in order to enhance employees' job satisfaction and it is needed to monitor regularly whether systemic job assignment process is done based on the employees' educational attainment and skill level and to provide more chances for job re-allocation and job rotation.
This study was conducted to investigate the status and problems, and suggest the proper improvement of provincial rotation hunting system in Korea. There were many problems in recently provincial rotation hunting system, such as, difficulty of budget interiority, low participation rate of hunters, low specialization degree of officers on their job, and extremity of illegal capture of wildlife by the absence of wildlife manager. The municipal hunting system, which have many merits, such as, increase of hunters' participation and income of municipality, creation of engagement, and prohibit of illegal capture of wildlife would be suggest for the improvement of hunting system.
Herzberg and his associates concluded from their findings that job satisfaction consisted on two independent dimension ; the first dimension was related to job satisfaction, the second to job dissatisfaction. According to the Herzberg theory, the satisfiers are related to the nature of the work itself and the rewards that flow directly from the performance of that work. The dissatisfaction factors are associated with the individual's relation to the context or environment in which he works. The purpose of this study was to investigate selected factors which result in job satisfaction / dissatisfaction of nurses employed in general hospital. In a study of this nature, it is important that the population be as homogenous as possible in order to reduce the effects of the different environments and backgrounds on job satisfaction. A job satisfaction questionnaire developed by Slabitt et als. was used for this study. It contains 45 statements and utilizes a Likert type scale of 5. Participants were asked to select response which were congruent with their perceptions of the item. It was decided to conduct the study in one general hospital in Seoul. A sample of 505 clinical nurses were selected to participate in this study. The results of this study were as follows ; 1. The overall mean score for the 45 five-point scales of job satisfaction items was 2.945, showing that the subjects of this study were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. 2. To identify the specific job related factors that result in Job satisfaction / dissatisfaction, the 45 items of job satisfaction were divided into 6 areas and the mean scores and % of agreement were compared. The specific job related factor that resulted in job satisfaction was the job status and those that resulted in job dissatisfaction were salaries, task requirements and organization requirements. But the areas of autonomy and interaction did not belong to either side of the specific job related factors. 3. To identify the relationship between the job satisfaction and the subject's general characteristic, data was analyzed using the t-test and the Pearson correlation coefficient. It was found that the relationship between the job satisfaction and the request for rotation and intention to remain on the job were statistically significant at .05 level, but the relationship between the job satisfaction and age, work experience, and educational background were nor statistically significant at the .05 level.

This paper aims to examine the main factors of the organizational climate and analyze their effects on job involvement. To accomplish these purposes, the nam factors of the organizational climate such as diversity, autonomy, redundancy, connectivity and flexibility were found from the previous studies. The questionaries of 350 were distributed to the employees working at the Gumi Industrial Complex. The questionaries of 298 were obtained and 267 were analyzed through frequencies, correlation and multiple regression. The results of this study are as followings; First, we conducted exploratory factor analysis for five constructs(diversity, autonomy, redundancy, connectivity and flexibility) using oblique rotation method that did not assume independence among the factors and main factors of knowledge management were grouped together by five factors. Second, it is shown that four main factors of organizational climate have a positive influence on the job involvement(p<0.05). This study, however, have limitations of number of sample and survey area. The future study should consider these limitations in improving model applicability in practice.
