  • This paper proposes a heuristic method for job shop scheduling with alternative machines. Our heuristic suggests four machine-selecting rules and two priority dispatching rules for modifying existent ones considering alternative machines, and then it extends existing nondelay/active job shop schedule generation. This heuristic provides good criteria(rules) in the selection of a proper machine among those performing a specific operation and for the dispatch of an operation to a selected machine and thus these rules permit the efficient job shop scheduling with alternative machines. The performances of our four machine-selecting rules in addition to the two priority dispatching rules, applied together with the existing 17 rules, are experimented and evaluated, respectively.

  • Lot-streaming is the process of splitting a job (lot) into sublots to allow the overlapping of operations between successive machines in a multi-stage production system. A new genetic algorithm (NGA) is proposed for an n-job, m-machine, lot-streaming flow shop scheduling problem with equal-size sublots in which the objective is to minimize the total stretch. The stretch of a job is the ratio of the amount of time the job spent before its completion to its processing time. NGA replaces the selection and mating operators of genetic algorithms (GAs) by marriage and pregnancy operators and incorporates the idea of inter-chromosomal dominance and individuals' similarities. Extensive computational experiments for medium to large-scale lot-streaming flow-shop scheduling problems have been conducted to compare the performance of NGA with that of GA.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the action learning lesson about the improvement process of the job support program of P university students. As a research method, we applied the related classes during the semester to the students who took courses in the course of 'Human Resource Development', which is a subject of P university, and analyzed the learner's reflection journal, interview data. As a result of the research, we went through the problem selection stage, the team construction and the team building stage. And then we searched for the root cause of the problem, clarified the problem, derived the possible solution, determined the priority and created the action plan. There are 10 solutions to the practical problems of poor job camps. Through two interviews with field experts it offered final solutions focused on promoting employment and Camp students participate in the management of post-employment into six camps. According to the first rank, job board integration, vendor selection upon student feedback, reflecting improved late questionnaire, public relations utilizing KakaoTalk, recruiting additional selection criteria, the camp provides recorded images in order. The results of this study suggest that the university's employment support program will strengthen the competitiveness of students' employment and become the basic data for the customized employment support program.

  • Since 1980's, the opportunities of higher education have increased absolutely to the extent worrying of over-education. The over-education means that job-seekers having a bachelor degree flow into job market much more than necessary and the problem of unemployment and under-employment becomes more serious. These changes in the labor market can affect the university selection behaviors of high school graduates. This study aims to reveal the impacts of over-education in Chungbuk, a periphery region, Korea. As expected, many of college graduates flow down into jobs asking school years less than higher education. On the other hand, high school graduates have an tendency of choosing a college, especially a college in center region, other than universities in Chungbuk, to expect more stable and rewarding job in income and upward mobility after the graduation of higher education. As the result of this, a regional university district, which means most of students in the region enter college within region limit, is getting broken into more smaller districts, a kind of local district. It can be thought as a sign that the dominance of regional center is weakening and more cities in the region receive a direct affects from center region, not through regional center.

  • This study conducted a questionnaire survey on 155 dental hygienists in Busan, Gyeongnam to understand the effect of dental hygienists' job identity on job retention. The study was conducted after being reviewed by the Research Ethics Review Committee (1041449-201912-HR-003). For data analysis, hierarchical regression analysis was carried out to check the effect of three details of job identity on job retention step by step. As a result, among the details of job identity, there was an influence on job retention in the order of empathy for the job (β=.358, p<.001), relationship between job and individual (β=.562, p<.001), and work and unity (β=.562, p<.001). Therefore, it is judged that it would be helpful to maintain a job if the educational institution with the Department of Dental Hygiene conducts classes on occupational identity in a more comprehensive sense.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the demographic and job characteristics and job satisfaction of sonographers (SONO) and radiological technologists (RT). The subjects were a total of 148 people (69 SONO, 79 RT), who had been working in clinical and hospitals. The method was conducted using a questionnaire with a total of 54 questions consisting of demographic characteristics, job characteristics, and job satisfaction. Reliability was secured with Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.6 or higher for the response of the questionnaire. For statistical analysis, descriptive statistics, cross-analysis, independent sample T-test, and correlation analysis using Pearson's correlation coefficient and Spearman's correlation coefficient were performed for each occupation. As a result, first, the SONO had more female workers than RT. They are more than three times as many in graduate school and above. Second, the SONO had 4.5 times more morning shift than the RT and no form of weekend shift. Third, the average monthly salary of the SONO is higher than that of the RT, but when a certain portion of the salary goes up, the salary no longer goes up. Fourth, satisfaction with expectations, growth desire, positive mentality, growth opportunity, job importance, organizational attachment was higher SONO than the RT, but self-efficacy was higher in RT than SONO. Last, SONO had higher educational background than RT. It is hoped that the results of this study will be able to understand the job characteristics of SONO and RT and identify the factors of job satisfaction and provide them as fundamental materials for job selection.

  • This study is analysing the factors determining individuals' behavior of selecting self-employment not only at the micro-level but also at the macro-level to put a particular emphasis on the financial constraint and unemployment rate representing business cycle. The data used in this study are "Korean Labor and Income Panal Study" of the Korea Labor Institute and "Economically Active Population Survey" of National Statistical Office. The main findings are as follows. First, human capital such as educational attainment and job experience has positive effects on male's selection of self-employment. The effects of job experience, however, changed negative for female's selection of self-employment. Second, real estate is significantly enhancing the selection probabilities of employer selection while the income from financial assets has negative effects. Third, entrepreneurial culture and environment are also raising the self-employment selection probability. Lastly, the regional unemployment rate representing the business cycle has positive effects on the self-employment selection after the financial crisis in 1997 both at the micro and macro level. Moreover, the coefficient of regional unemployment rate has changed positive in the structural model of self-employment selection controlling for selection bias and income opportunities, which means that individual's behavior of self-employment selection is rather complex when accounting for the uncertainties of income opportunities and diverse characteristics of self-employment workforce.

  • 1002 Students in the dept. of the dental laboratory technology of 8 college around the nation were surveyed on the three items-the professional attitude, their job-plan after graduation and the conditions and causes exerting influence on their choice of a job. 1. professional Consciousness About the purpose to take a job, 41.8% of all the students replied the economic stability. Another question is on the formation of the professional consiousness. 34.7% said they didn't accomplish it yet, while 32.1% did. This shows that the number of those hwo are resolute isnt's too low in comparison with those not. On the considering factors when they take a job, stability was first favored, with the capacity to improve itself and then profitability following on as second and third. 2. Job-plan after School 78.9% of all wanted to work in their major field as a dental technician. About their knowledge of the job, 60.4% know it well; though, their confidence in getting the job is close to the low level wholly. 3. Factors Having Influence on the selection of a job About the most decisive point in one's choice of job, 37.3% selected first the degree of completion of his major-field knowledge and skill. The most critical person when choosing his job was himself, a great number of students answered. About the working area favored, 52.9% first answered Seoul on the reason why it is a familiar place where their family or relatives have already lived and the special knowledge related to the job is easilly accessed.
