  • Electrohydrodynamic jet printing (EHDP) technique is widely used for the direct writing. However, in the existing EHDP method, the printing characteristics are affected by the printing substrate used, and the line width of the printed is determined by the geometry of the nozzle. We propose an EHDP method which is capable of (1) removing the effect from the substrate, and (2) controlling the line width through the ON/OFF control of the each nozzle in the nozzle array. Printing characteristics of our EHDP system were examined and successful ON/OFF control of the nozzle array were demonstrated. By using the proposed EHDP, it is expected that stable meniscus regardless of the substrate and different line widths even using the same nozzle can be achieved.

스파이럴 제트 유동에 미치는 축소노즐 각도의 영향 (The Effect of Convergent Nozzle Angle on a Spiral Jet Flow)

  • In general the swirl jet is generated by the injected flow that is forced to the tangential direction. A spiral nozzle which is composed of an annular slit and a convergent nozzle, is released the spiral jet that is generated by the radial flow injection through an annular slit. The objective of the present study is to investigate the additional study that is studied a changed the convergent nozzle angle and nozzle length. In the present computation, a finite volume scheme is used to solve three dimensional Navier-Stokes equations with RNG $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulent model. The convergent nozzle angle and the nozzle length of the spiral nozzle are varied to obtain different spiral flows inside the conical convergent nozzle. The present computational results are compared with the previous experimental data. The results obtained show that the convergent nozzle angle and the nozzle length of the spiral jet strongly influence the characteristics of the spiral jets, such as a tangential and a jet width.

평면 충돌제트의 불안정특성(2)-원통음- (Characteristics of Plane Impinging Jets(2)- Cylinder-tone -)

  • The objective of this study is to obtain the instability characteristics of the plane jet impinging on circular cylinder associated with the cylinder-tone. It is found that the characteristics depends upon he ratio of the cylinder diameter to the nozzle width, D/h, and the jet velocity. When the ratio is oderate the cylinder-tone is similar to the edge-tone. With increase of the ratio, its characteristics ecomes similar to that of the plate-tone in which only the high-speed tone associated with turbulent et is generated. When D/h 〈1. the frequency range, especially the lower limit of frequency, is ignificantly influenced by the cylinder diameter. At around D/h = 1/2, while low speed tones are nduced with the antisymmetric mode of instability and affected by the vortex shedding from the ylinder, high-speed tones are generated, at first, with the symmetric mode of instability. and then, ith antisymmetric mode, as the jet velocity increases.

  • We have studied ink-jet printing method for patterning of conductive line on flexible plastic substrates. Synthesized copper nano-particles of ${\sim}40\;nm$ were used for the conductive ink and the printed patterns exhibit a smooth line whose line width is about $100\;{\mu}m$.

  • Experiments were conducted to show the characteristics of the flow on unventilated parallel plane jets. Measurements of mean velocity components and turbulent intensities were carried out with a particle image velocimetry to investigate the flow field generated by the air issued from two identical plane parallel nozzles and mixed with the ambient air. The measurements range of these experiments were Reynolds number of 5300 based on the nozzle width and the cases of nozzle-to-nozzle distance were four times. six times and eight times the width of the nozzle. Results show that a recirculation zone with a sub-atmospheric static pressure was bounded by the inner shear layers of the individual jets and the nozzles plate. The positions. where maximum value of mean turbulent intensities and mean turbulent kinetic energy show, were at the same position with the merging point. The spread of jets in the merging region increases more rapidly than that of Jets in the converging and the combined region. As nozzle-to-nozzle distances were increased. it was shown that merging and combined lengths were shorter.

펄스 아크 스파크 제트 플라즈마 구동기에 의해 발생된 고속 제트의 효율적 운전 성능 특성에 관한 연구 (Performance Characteristics of a High-Speed Jet Produced by a Pulsed-Arc Spark Jet Plasma Actuator)

  • 아크 플라즈마에 의해 구동되는 스파크 제트의 다양한 에너지 공급 방법에 따른 효율적 운전 성능 특성에 대한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 펄스 당 37 mJ의 주입 에너지에 의한 급속한 기체의 가열에 의해 약 330 m/s의 고속 제트가 발생함을 확인하였다. 제트의 최대 속도와 침투 거리는 각각 주입된 전력량과 펄스 당 주입된 에너지에 비례하였다. 낮은 에너지에서는 오리피스 직경이 작을수록 더 높은 속도의 제트가 발생하였다. 공급 에너지가 같다면 전류를 높인 펄스가 펄스 폭을 높인 펄스보다 높은 속도의 제트를 발생시켰다. 펄스 폭이 약 $10{\mu}s$이고 펄스 당 에너지가 약 10 mJ인 경우가 효율적인 운전에 보다 더 적합한 것으로 확인되었다.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the characteristics of jet flow and heat transfer caused by trapezoid rods array in impinging jet system. In this study, trapezoid rods have been set up in front of flat plate to serve as a turbulence promoter. The bottom width of trapezoid rod was W=4, 8mm and oblique angle were $80^{\circ}$. The space from rods to the heating surface was C=1, 2, 4mm, the pitch between each rods was P=30, 40, 50mm, and the distance from nozzle exit to flat plate was H=100, 500mm. This results were compared with the case without trapezoid rods. As a result, when rods are installed in front of the impinging plate, the acceleration of the jet flow and the eddies due to the rods seem to contribute to the heat transfer enhancement. Among test conditions, the heat transfer performance was best for the condition of W=8mm, C=1mm, P=30mm and H/B=10. The maximum heat transfer rate is about 1.9 times larger than that without trapezoid rods.

고온효과를 고려한 직격 요격체 다화학종 초음속 제트 간섭 (Supersonic Multi-species Jet Interactions of Hit-to-Kill Interceptor with High Temperature Effect)

  • 본 연구에서는 고도에 따른 간섭 유동과 공력특성을 파악하고, 측추력 제트에 사용된 기체의 종류에 따라 다화학종 가스제트의 확산을 고려한 유동해석을 수행하였다. 공기제트에 비해서 임의로 가정한 다화학종 가스 제트를 사용하는 경우 충격파의 위치와 제트의 확산 영역이 동체전방으로 이동한다. 이로 인해 표면의 고압영역이 앞으로 나가며 같은 조건에서 보다 높은 피칭 모멘트를 갖는다. 또한 고온효과의 적용에 따라 압력분포 예측에 차이를 보였다. 그리고 저고도의 측추력제트 유동 구조와 비교했을 때 중고도 유동조건에서 주변 대기의 낮은 밀도로 측추력 제트의 두께가 더 크며, 넓은 영역에 걸쳐 확산된다.

수중초음속제트의 불안정성에 대한 실험적 고찰 (Experimental Observation of Instability of Supersonic Submerged Jets)

  • 2차원 수중 초음속 제트의 구조 및 유동 불안정성에 대한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 제트의 구조 및 시간에 따른 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 고속 디지털 카메라 촬영과 정압을 측정하였다. 공기 유량의 변화에 따른 제트의 구조를 초고속 촬영하여 이로부터 얻어진 장면에서 확산각을 구했다. 일련의 제트의 주기적인 특성에 따른 구조를 관찰하였고 불안정성의 초당 주기 발생 횟수가 5-6회 정도로 측정되었다. 세 가지 특성 길이 $L_1$, $L_2$, $L_3$를 정의하였다. $L_1$은 불안정적 주기가 발생할 경우 최대제트의 폭 스케일, $L_2$는 2차적인 유동이 유입되는 곳의 제트의 폭 스케일, $L_3$는 노즐 출구로부터 2차적으로 유도된 유동이 유임되는 곳까지의 길이다. $L_1$/$L_2$는 전압 즉, 탱크 압력이 증가함에 따라 감소하는 경향성을 가지고 있고 $L_3$는 전압이 증가함에 따라 증가하는 경향성을 띄었다. 시간에 따른 정압 변화를 측정하였으며 FFT결과를 통해서 불안정성으로 인해 발생하는 주파수와 유사한 값인 5Hz에서 고유진동이 발생하는 것을 확인하였다.
