현장시험을 이용한 제주지역의 지질특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Geotechnical Characteristics of Jeju Area Using Field Tests)

  • 연구목적: 본 연구에서는 제주 지역 지반의 특성을 분석하여 연구함으로써 향후 개발사업 진행시 공법설계등의 기초자료로 활용한다. 연구방법: 제주 지역에서 진행된 공사의 지반조사 데이터를 기반으로 심도, 상대밀도, N치, 함수상태, 색조, 지하수위, 압축강도를 분석하고 연구하였다. 연구결과: 본 연구로 부터 제주지역이 고대부터 진행된 화산활동과 인근의 해수에 의한 급속한 냉각으로 이루어진 주상절리와 해안부에서 두텁게 발견된 모래층, 그리고 수성화산활동에 의해 형성된 클링커층 및 서귀포층이 존재함을 알 수 있었다. 결론: 제주지역의 특수한 지반 형태를 이해하고 공사 설계시 그 특성을 잘 반영하여 기초 설계 및 기초 공법 선정의 자료로 쓰여지길 기대한다.

Comparisons of the prevalence of gallbladder polyps and clinical variables among residents between the urban and rural area on Jeju Island

  • 시내 지역과 시외 지역 사이에서 담낭용종의 유병률과 일부 임상적 변수들이 다르다는 보고가 있으나 그것은 육지에서 시행되었다. 따라서 이전 연구는 혼동 요인들을 가질 수가 있다. 그래서 이 연구의 목적은 담낭용종의 유병률과 임상 변수들을 외부 혼동 요인들을 배제하기 위해서 고립된 섬에서 비교해 보고자 하였다. 우리는 제주도에서 담낭용종 유병률과 임상 변수들을 2009년 1월부터 2019년 12월까지 제주대학교병원 단일 건강검진센터에서 건강검진을 시행한 21,734명의 거주민들에서 그들의 주소지를 따라서 비교하였다. 시내 지역과 시외 지역 거주민들의 담낭용종 유병률은 각각 10.1%와 8.7% (P = 0.006)로 의미 있게 차이가 있었다. 임상 변수들 중에서, 중심 비만자의 비율, 평균 공복시 혈당, LDL-콜레스테롤, 평균 알카라인 인산분해효소와 감마-글루타밀전이효소 수치들과 평균 연령이 시내 지역보다 시외 지역에서 높았으나, 평균 총콜레스테롤 수치는 시내 지역 거주민들에서 시외 지역 거주민들보다 높았다. 이 연구는 제주도의 시내와 시내 지역 거주민들에서 담낭용종 유병률과 일부 임상적 변수들이 통계학적으로 다르다는 것을 보여 주었다.

An Analysis of the Jeju Beach Science Camp Program Based on the HASA Curriculum and a Survey of Preference

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the Jeju beach science camp program and to survey the participating students'' preference levels for the activities included therein. The camp programs were analyzed on the basis of the standards set for the HASA curriculum. The program's "manipulatory skill" area included many manipulatory and creative activities while the "inquiry area" included many basic and integrated inquiry activities. It was also indicated that the "knowledge area" included many activities appropriate for understanding concepts and principles while the "attitude area" included many activities appropriate for stimulating curiosity and enjoyment. Thus, it could be seen that the areas stipulated for the HASA curriculum were considerably consistent with the purpose of the science camp. The participating students showed preference for manipulatory and creative activities included in the program. They also preferred basic, inquiry level activities included under the area of "inquiry skills." It was identified that the students most preferred the conceptual stage included under the area of "knowledge" where they were required to grasp the common characteristics of events, things, and phenomena, as also the enjoyment stage included under the "attitude" area, where they were required to participate in pleasant science activities. These findings indicate that science camp programs should be composed of manipulatory and creative activities as well as activities that aim at basic research and the understanding of concepts.

토지이용 변화를 고려한 제주도 권역별 미래 농업용수 수요량 추정 (Estimation of Regional Future Agricultural Water Demand in Jeju Island Considering Land Use Change)

  • In this study, the projected land use area in 2030 for major crop production was estimated in Jeju Island using land cover map, and corresponding agricultural water demand for 40 sub-regions was quantitatively assessed using the future climate change scenario (RCP 4.5). Estimated basic unit of water demand in 2030 was the highest in the western region, and the lowest in the eastern region. Monthly maximum agricultural water demand analysis revealed that water demand in August of 2030 substantially increased, suggesting the climate of Jeju Island is changing to a subtropical climate in 2030. Agricultural water demand for sub-region in 2030 was calculated by multiplying the target area of the water supply excluding the area not in use in winter season by the basic unit of water demand, and the maximum and minimum values were estimated to be $306,626m^3/day$ at Seogwipo downtown region and $77,967m^3/day$ at Hallim region, respectively. Consequently, total agricultural water demand in Jeju Island in 2030 was estimated to be $1,848,010m^3/day$.

제주도 연안해역의 폭풍해일고 산정 (A Height Simulation on Storm Surges in Jeju Island)

  • Storm surge height in the coastal area of Jeju Island was examined using the Princeton Ocean Model(POM) with a sigma coordinate system. Amongst the typhoons that had affected to Jeju Island for six years(1987 to 2003), the eight typhoons(Maemi, Rusa, Prapiroon, Olga, Yanni, Janis, Gladys and Thelma) were found to bring relatively huge damage. The storm surge height of these typhoons simulated in Jeju harbour and Seogwipo harbour corresponded relatively well with the observed value. The occurrence time of the storm surge height was different, but mostly, it was a little later than the observed time. Jeju harbour showed a higher storm surge height than Seogwipo harbour, and the storm surge height didn't exceed 1m in both of Jeju harbour and Seogwipo harbour. Maemi out of the eight typhoons showed the maximum storm surge height(77.97 cm) in Jeju harbour, and Janis showed the lowest storm surge height(5.3 cm) in Seogwipo harbour.

제주넙치 양식산업의 경제파급 효과분석 (Economic Impact Effect Analysis of Flounder Aquaculture Industry in Jeju)

  • We have done the input-output analysis to see the over all impact of flounder industry of Jeju region on the domestic economy of Korea. To do the input-output analysis, we have constructed the data set for the input-output table by using the existing data set in the "2003 input- output table of Jeju regional area" published by the joint work of Jeju branch of Korea bank and the Jeju Development Institute, together with some raw data provided by Jejudo Marine Fish-Culture Cooperative. We have also produced input coefficient of flounder industry by making flounder industrial sector exogenous, separated from intermediate demand. To summarize our empirical results, the inducement effect of production, value added, and employment of Jeju flounder aquaculture industry are 300 billion won, 116 billion won and 1,800 people respectively. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest flounder industry of Jeju region contributes powerfully to not only Jeju economy but also all over the Korea economy.

제주도 중산간 곶자왈 지대의 마을공동목장 운영과 방목활동을 통한 생활상 연구 (A Study on the Living Conditions of Locals through the Management of Village Common Pastures and Pasturing Activities in Gotjawal located in the Mid-mountain Area of Jeju Island)

  • 제주도 중산간지역에 분포해 있는 곶자왈 지대는 최근 다양한 측면에서 그 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 본 연구는 곶자왈 지대의 마을공동목장 운영과 그곳에서 행해졌던 방목활동을 통하여 중산간지역에서의 생활상을 고찰함으로써 곶자왈이 지니는 생활문화적 공간으로서의 가치를 밝혀내고자 한다. 사례지역인 청수-저지 곶자왈 지대의 청수 및 저지 마을공동목장은 1930년대에 형성된 이래 1960~70년대에 마을 농가들의 소 방목을 통해 활발히 이용되어 왔다. 제주도에서도 소는 농업활동과 운송, 이동의 주요수단이었고 소 사육은 농가의 소득을 확보하는 주요경제 수단이었다. 마을공동목장에서의 소 방목은 마을마다 독특한 방목문화를 정착시키는데 기여함은 물론 급수터의 조성, 건초준비를 위한 농가의 협업문화를 형성하였다. 뿐만 아니라 마을공동목장 내에는 소 방목을 위한 목축시설이 아직도 일부가 남 아있어 중산간지역의 주민생활을 이해하는데 중요한 자료가 되고 있다.

제주초지의 사회.문화적 기능 가치평가 및 보전방안 (Estimation of Socio-Cultural Value and Preservation Program of Grassland in Jeju)

  • The purpose of this paper is to estimate economic value of multi-functionality roles including landscape and so on, which grassland in Jeju possesses, using Dichotomous Choice Contingent Valuation Method (DC-CVM). Grassland is life cultural heritance of regional residents in Jeju. It has functions like development of favorable landscapes, maintenance of cultural heritage, and recreation/relaxation. Expectation from regional visitors shows that the existence and inheritance value of grassland is higher than we expected. According to the research that we had done from the people that had agreed to contribute grassland. moreover the public commercial value of grassland was not only $397{\sim}419$ billion won but also it will increase an economic gain in every year in Jeju. Therefore, preserving grassland that has multi-functional roles and values can lead to huge economic value in the future in Jeju. Moreover, farm households which are located in the grassland conservation area would be supported $15{\sim}31$ billion won in every year for grassland conservation but it is only $4{\sim}8%$ of the economic value of grassland i.e. $3,971{\sim}4190$ billion won. Thus, grassland preservation policy and plan can raise green-tour commercial value of Jeju area as a long-term inside measurement. Those will have to be propelled continuously.

제주 월정리 해안변 개발에 따른 해안경관 실태 분석 연구 (The Analysis of Coastal Landscape according to Development of Woljeong-ri Village in Jeju)

  • The coastal village in Woljeong-ri, Jeju is highly preferred by tourists because of its unique natural landscape different from inland areas. Especially, the number of buildings in the coastal area of the village is increasing due to escalating commercial value. Buildings are densely developed, along the seaside, resulting in privatization of coastal landscape. This results in blocking of landscape and psychological exchanges between the coastal village and coast. This study analyzed the actual conditions of coastal landscape before and after 2010, when the number of tourists and demand for development were increased in the coastal area of the coastal village in Woljeong-ri, Jeju. In this study, open index, visible horizontal index, elevation angle, elevation blockage and visible facade index were used to compute objective indicators of coastal landscape status. The analysis reveals visible facade index, a complex landscape assessment indicator, was increased by 7 times after 2010 as compared with before 2010. As such, there are many coastal villages in Jeju similar to Woljeong-ri that have a high landscape value and are in need of management. A comprehensive measure including a system for management of coastal landscape is urgently required to create narrative landscape in Jeju.

심부 지열에너지 개발 가능성 파악을 위한 제주도 증산간 지역에서의 MT 탐사 (Magnetotelluric surveys from mid-mountain area of Jeju Island for evaluating possible structures for deep-seated geothermal energy)

  • Though numerous drilling has been performed in Jeju Island for development of ground water, the wells are mostly located along the coast lines or at low altitude area, and can hardly be found on the mid-mountain area. Two-dimensional magnetotelluric (MT) surveys have been carried out to cover the lack of geological Informal ion on the mid-mountain area and to figure out any possible structures or evidences for deep geothermal energy remained. Two-dimensional (2-D) inversion of MT data for four survey lines surrounding the Halla mountain show a thick layer having around 10 ohm-m in the depth of a few hundred meters throughout the survey area, which can be considered as the unconsol idated sedimentary layer. And they also show a conductive anomaly extending to more than 2km depth at the central part of each survey lines, which can possibly be related with old volcanic activities during the formation of Halla Mt.. Further seological/geophysical investigations should be followed.
