The VMSS(Virtual Makeup Simulation System) is a virtual simulation system which can apply makeup, hair style, accessory to user's own face image through internee connection. The simulation result can be stored to server side DB and also can be printed out on client side printer. It is implemented using Java so, clients don't need any other client program to run the VMSS except Web browser and Java Plug-in installed on browser. IIS (Internet Information Server) Web server of Window 2000 and MS-SQL 7 are used to develop the overall system. Commercial JDBC Driver Type 4 is used to connect the applet and DB. It suggests a new direction of Web-based contents service development and can be applied to many other areas.

The SQL CLl (Call Level Interface) is a database application programming interface (API) that fits the client-server environment, and its de facto standards such as ODBC and JDBC are widely employed in various applications. The current SQL CLl standards, however, do not specify enough features for efficient retrieval of large objects (LOBs) that constitute the multimedia data. In this paper, we propose the LOB caching through the SQL CLl and describe the extension of the SQL eLl to achieve such a goal. We implement our proposal by extending the SQL CLl library for BADA - II DBMS developed at ETRI, and evaluate the performance of LOB retrieval through the cache compared to that of LOB retrieval conducted solely with the functions specified in the current SQL CLl standards.

In this paper, an objective of this research is to add convenience to the intranet operating within an educational institution, by setting up a messenger function to enable the faculties and teachers to make better use of the university database via Intranet. With this messenger services, the users can view the information about the members in a group they belong to, and register as friends a group of members they selected from the work group they are in. This function will reduce the cumbersome chores of adding one individual as a friend at a time. This research will enhance the Intranet within an educational institution by integrating new functions. Speciallly, In this paper, it is stored student data by the input form by the JDBC of XML standard data. Also, it is able to search of stored database to web sever from web client by the SQL quary.

We propose a graphical object query language called OGPL (Odysseus Graphical Query Language) for Odysseus object databases. By employing simple graphical notations, OGQL provides a user friendly database interface for object databases. OGQL provides a simple graphical notation for advanced features of the object queries such as path expressions including cycles (cyclic queries). Cyclic queries have not been handled in the previous graphical query languages because of their complexity and ambiguity in devising appropriate graphical notations. GOQL also provides a graphical notation for inheritance hierarchy. Since OGQL has been implemented in Java and JDBC standard interface, users can access the remote databases in a web environment and the system has platform-independent architecture.

We studied basic ideas of a network based Gravity/Magnetic data processing server/client system which provides functions of data processing, forward modeling, inversion and data process on Data Base. This Java technology was used to provide facilities, socket communication and JDBC(Java Database Connectivity) technology to produce an effective and practical client application. The server computers are linked by network to process the MPI parallelized computing. This can provide useful devices of the geophysical process and modeling that usually require massive computing performance and time. Since this system can be accessed by lots of users, it can provides the consistent and confident results through the verified processing programs. This system also makes it possible to get results and outputs through internet when their local machines are connected to the network. It can help many users who want to omit the jobs of system administration and to process data during their field works.

분산 객체 미들웨어는 네트웍 투명성 이외에 여러 플랫폼 상에 존재하는 다양한 객체들을 하나로 묶을 수 있는 기능을 제공하기 때문에 이종의 플랫폼과 데이터 모델을 통합하는 시스템으로 자리잡아가고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 네트워크에 분산되어 있는 서로 다른 데이터베이스들을 통합하는 통합환경 시스템을 설계한는데 있어서 필요한 서비스들을 연구하고 구현하는 것이다. 이를 위해서 이식성과 상호 운용성이 뛰어난 분산 객체 시스템의 표준인 CORBA를 미들웨어로 설정하고 클라이언트 측은 JDBC를, 서버 측은 ODBC를 사용하여 통합 데이터베이스 모델을 설계하였다. 본 논문에서는 데이터베이스 통합에 있어 클라이언트와 구현객체 사이에서 구현될 CORBA서비스인 공통객체 서비스를 이용한다.

사이버 교육은 시간과 공간의 제약을 벗어나 각종 멀티미디어 자원을 이용함으로써 기존 교육 방식을 보조하거나 대체하게 되었다. 온라인 학습자들을 평가하고 교육과정을 개선할 수 있는 평가 시스템에 대한 연구는 다양한 교육 컨텐츠에 비하여 부족한 편이다. 본 논문에서는 JSP 와 JDBC 기술을 이용하여 문제 은행 시스템을 설계하였다. 기존의 학습 평가 시스템과는 달리, 데이터 표현을 위하여 XML 언어를 사용하였으며, 객관식 문제의 난이도 조절을 위한 피드백 및 단답형 주관식 문제에 대한 채점방식에 대한 고려를 평가 시스템 설계에 포함하였다. 문제은행은 문항의 형태, 내용, 난이도 등을 포함한 문항의 특성과 관련된 정보들을 체계적으로 저장하여, 보다 정확한 학습 평가 시스템이 되도록 설계하였다.

인터넷의 활용이 급속도로 확산됨에 따라 인터넷에 연결된 이 기종간의 컴퓨터들이 점점 다양화되고 넓게 퍼지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 인터넷에 연결된 혼합 이 기종 시스템들에 산재해 있는 여러 자원을 보다 적극적으로 활용하며, 이러한 것의 기본이 되는 저 수준의 소켓 프로그램대하여 소개하며 또한 그 서비스의 다양화하고자 JDBC를 제안한다. 본 연구는 자바에서 기본적으로 제공하는 플랫폼의 독립적인 특성과 대화방 프로그램을 설계 및 구현하여 소켓 프로그래밍에 대한 이해를 돕고 어떻게 활용되는지에 대한 연구를 하였다.

Electronic document processing using EDl (Electronic Data Interchange) must exchange documents using VAN (Value Added Network). However. the use of exclusive software needs alteration of a new document and the use of VAN(Value Added Network) demands an exchange of document and high cost for maintenance. Due to these problems, the existing EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is turning into Web-based EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). This paper suggests techniques that change EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) messages which exist in two relational databases into XML (extensible Markeup Language) using the JDBC bridge. Also this paper proposes a method that recovers schema using converted XML (extensible Markeup Language) file, and a method which inserts an original record into a declared table. This solves the limitation of an original method that have to use sane database management system and also overcomes the problem in certain circumstances where the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) exchange does not work.

The Web programming techniques like CGI and server-sided script languages such as ASP, PHP and JSP have been used for developing on-line Web-based learning systems on SQL. But, the systems developed by using those techniques are dependent on the platforms on which the target DBMS's are located. Therefore, they can be hardly reused and maintained. In addition, it is not easy for them to provide a learner with the feedback information on processing his/her query and to give a teacher an opportunity of monitoring and guiding learner's learning process. In this paper, we propose an SQL learning system on the Web by using Java Applet and JDBC, which is independent on the target DBMS's. Moreover, it gives feedback information on learner's queries so that a teacher can monitor the learning process and teach them efficiently.
