  • Near-rings considered are right near-rings and R is a near-ring. $J_0^r(R)$, the right Jacobson radical of R of type-0, was introduced and studied by the present authors. In this paper $J_1^r(R)$ and $J_2^r(R)$, the right Jacobson radicals of R of type-1 and type-2 are introduced. It is proved that both $J_1^r$ and $J_2^r$ are radicals for near-rings and $J_0^r(R){\subseteq}J_1^r(R){\subseteq}J_2^r(R)$. Unlike the left Jacobson radical classes, the right Jacobson radical class of type-2 contains $M_0(G)$ for many of the finite groups G. Depending on the structure of G, $M_0(G)$ belongs to different right Jacobson radical classes of near-rings. Also unlike left Jacobson-type radicals, the constant part of R is contained in every right 1-modular (2-modular) right ideal of R. For any family of near-rings $R_i$, $i{\in}I$, $J_{\nu}^r({\oplus}_{i{\in}I}R_i)={\oplus}_{i{\in}I}J_{\nu}^r(R_i)$, ${\nu}{\in}\{1,2\}$. Moreover, under certain conditions, for an invariant subnear-ring S of a d.g. near-ring R it is shown that $J_2^r(S)=S{\cap}J_2^r(R)$.

  • Let (M, g, J) be a closed Kahler manifold of complex dimension m > 1. We denote by Spec(M,g) the spectrum of the real Laplace-Beltrami operator. DELTA. acting on functions on M. The following characterization problem on the spectral rigidity of the complex projective space (CP$^{m}$ , g$_{0}$ , J$_{0}$ ) with the standard complex structure J$_{0}$ and the Fubini-Study metric g$_{0}$ has been attacked by many mathematicians : if (M,g,J) and (CP$^{m}$ ,g$_{0}$ ,J$_{0}$ ) are isospectral then is it true that (M,g,J) is holomorphically isometric to (CP$^{m}$ ,g$_{0}$ ,J$_{0}$ )\ulcorner In [BGM], [LB], it is proved that if (M,J) is (CP$^{m}$ , J$_{0}$ ) then the answer to the problem is affirmative. Tanno ([Ta]) has proved that the answer is affirmative if m .leq. 6. Recently, Wu([Wu]) has showed in a more general sense that if (M, g) and (CP$^{m}$ ,g$_{0}$ ) are (-4/m)-isospectral, m .geq. 4, and if the second betti number b$_{2}$(M) is equal to b$_{2}$(CP$^{m}$ ).

  • This study was carried rut to investigate the quality properties of two cocked germinated-brown rices(A- and B-product). Color value of A- and B-product were L=68.46, a=0.92, b=9.49 and L=69.32, a=-1.10, b=9.77, respectively. Moisture content of those was $64.5\%$. The free sugar contents of A-product were $0.2\%$ glucose, $0.15\%$ sucrose, $0.18\%$ maltose, and those of B-product were $0.14\%$ glurose, $0.50\%$ sucrose, $0.17\%$ maltose, respectively. Vitamin E content in A-product was $30.7\;{\mu}g\;100\;g$ and $46.9\;{\mu}g\;100\;g$ in B-product. Total dietary fiber contents were $2.8\%$, and $2.2\%$, respectively. The DSC(differential scanning calorimetry) characteristics of two cooked germinated-brown rices showed similar pattern. Onset temperature and gelatinization enthalpy of peak 1 were $56.5^{\circ}C$, 5.46 J/g in A-product and $56.2^{\circ}C$, 5.56 J/g in B-product, respectively. Onset temperature and melting enthalpy of peak 2 were $109.5^{\circ}C$, 0.33 J/g in A-product and $108.9^{\circ}C$, 0.37 J/g in B-product, respective1y. Sensory properties of cocked germinated-brown rices were affected by appearance, taste and texture. Palatability score of B-product was higher than that of A-product.

  • Over an additive abelian group G of order g and for a given positive integer λ, a generalized Hadamard matrix GF(g,λ) is defined as a gλ$\times$gλ matrix [h(i,j)] where 1$\leq$i$\leq$gλ,1$\leq$j$\leq$gλ, such that every element of G appears exactly λ times in the list h(i$_1$,1)-h(i$_2$,1), h(i$_1$,2)-h(i$_2$,2),...,h(i$_1$,gλ)-h(i$_2$, gλ) for any i$\neq$j. In this paper, we propose a new method of expanding a GH(\ulcorner,λ$_1$) = B = \ulcorner over G by replacing each of its m-tuple \ulcorner with \ulcorner GH(g,λ$_2$) where m=gλ$_2$. We may use \ulcornerλ$_1$(not necessarily all distinct) GH(g,λ$_2$)'s for the substitution and the resulting matrix is defined over the group of order g.

  • Two strains J2W and J2Y which were isolated from soil can utilize polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) as a sole carbon source. PVA was utilized symbiotically by the mixed culture of these two strains which could not utilize PVA in each respective pure culture. Effect of degree of PVA polymerization on the its utilization was examed, and there was remarkable difference among three kind of PVA(PVA 500, 1500 and 2000). The reconstruction of there two strains was carried out with other symbionts Pseudomonas sp. PW and Pseudomonas sp. G5Y which were able to utilize PVA. PVA utilization occured in each remixed culture of J2Y strain with Pseudomonas sp. PW J2W strain with Pseudomonas sp. G5Y, respectively. Identification of bacteria was based on morphological and biological chatacteristics, J2W and J2Y strain were similar to a strain of Pseudomonas pseudimallei and Xanthomonas campestris, respectively.

  • In this paper, we consider the function related with almost hermitian structure on a copact complex manifold. More precisely, on a 2n-diminsional complex manifold M admitting 2-form .ohm. of rank 2n everywhere, assume that M admits a metric g such that g(JX, JY)=g(X,Y), that is, assume that g defines an hermitian structure on M admitting .ohm. as fundamental 2-form-the 'almost complex structure' J being determined by g and .ohm.:g(X,Y)=.ohm.(X,JY). We consider the function I(g):=.int.$_{M}$ $N^{2}$d $V_{g}$, where N is the norm of Nijenhuis tensor N defined by (J,g). by (J,g).

  • In this paper three more right Jacobson-type radicals, $J^r_{g{\nu}}$, are introduced for near-rings which generalize the Jacobson radical of rings, ${\nu}{\in}\{0,1,2\}$. It is proved that $J^r_{g{\nu}}$ is a special radical in the class of all near-rings. Unlike the known right Jacobson semisimple near-rings, a $J^r_{g{\nu}}$-semisimple near-ring R with DCC on right ideals is a direct sum of minimal right ideals which are right R-groups of type-$g_{\nu}$, ${\nu}{\in}\{0,1,2\}$. Moreover, a finite right $g_2$-primitive near-ring R with eRe a non-ring is a near-ring of matrices over a near-field (which is isomorphic to eRe), where e is a right $g_2$-primitive idempotent in R.

  • In this paper, we solve the following four graph equations $L^k(G)=H{\oplus}J$; $M(G)=H{\oplus}J$; ${\bar{L^k(G)}}=H{\oplus}J$ and ${\bar{M(G)}}=H{\oplus}J$, where J is $nK_2$ for $n{\geq}1$. Here, the equality symbol = means the isomorphism between the corresponding graphs. In particular, we shall obtain all pairs of graphs (G, H), which satisfy the above mentioned equations, upto isomorphism.

  • The methanol extracts of the roots, root bark and stem of Berberis tinctoria, were investigated for their hepatoprotective activity against carbon tetrachloride $(CCl_4)$ induced toxicity in freshly isolated rat hepatocytes, HEp-G2 cells and animal models. The methanol extracts were able to significantly normalise the levels of aspartate amino transferase, alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, triglycerides, total proteins, albumin, total bilirubin and direct bilirubin, which were altered due to $CCl_4$ intoxication in freshly isolated rat hepatocytes and also in animal models. The anti-hepatotoxic effect of the methanol extracts in vitro were observed at $600\;-\;1,000\;{\mu}g/ml$ concentrations. A dose dependent increase in the percentage viability was observed when $CCl_4$ exposed HEp-G2 cells were treated with different concentrations of the methanol extracts. The highest percentage viability of HEp-G2 was observed at a concentration of $1,000\;{\mu}g/ml$. The results from the present investigations also indicate good correlation between the in vivo and in vitro studies.

  • Objective : The objective of this study was to determine the photodynamic therapeutic response of U-87 human glioma cell in vitro as well as in the nude rat xenograft model using photofrin as photosensitizer. Material and Method : U-87 cells were cultured on 96-well culture plates, photofrin(Quadralogic Technologies Inc., Vancouver, Canada) was added into the cell culture medium at concentration of $1{\mu}g/ml$, $2.5{\mu}g/ml$, $5{\mu}g/ml$, $10{\mu}g/ml$ and $20{\mu}g/ml$. 24 hour after drug treatment, cells were treated with optical(632nm) irradiation of $100mJ/cm^2$, $200mJ/cm^2$ and $400mJ/cm^2$. Photofrin(12.5mg/kg, i.p.) was administered to 28 nude rats containing intracerebral U-87 human glioma as well as 26 normal nude rats. 48 hours after administration, animals were treated with optical irradiation(632nm) of $35J/cm^2$, $140J/cm^2$ and $280J/cm^2$ to exposed tumor and normal brain. The photofrin concentration was measured in tumor and normal brain in a separate population of animals. Results : By MTT assay, there was 100% cytotoxicity at any dose of photofrin with optical irradiation of $200mJ/cm^2$ and $400mJ/cm^2$. But at the optical irradiation of $100mJ/cm^2$ cells were killed in dose dependent manner 28.5%, 49.1%, 54.4%, 78.2%, and 84.6% at concentration of $1{\mu}g/ml$, $2.5{\mu}g/ml$, $5{\mu}g/ml$, $10{\mu}g/ml$ and $20{\mu}g/ml$, respectively. Dose dependent PDT lesions in both tumor and normal brain were observed. In the tumor lesion, only superficial tissue damage was found with optical irradiation of $35J/cm^2$. However, in the optical irradiation group of $140J/cm^2$ and $280J/cm^2$ the volume of lesions was measured of $7.2mm^3$ and $14.0mm^3$ for treatment at $140J/cm^2$ and $280J/cm^2$, respectively. The U-87 bearing rats showed a photofrin concentration in tumor tissue of $6.53{\pm}2.16{\mu}g/g$, 23 times higher than that found in the contralateral hemisphere of $0.28{\pm}0.15{\mu}g/g$. Conclusion : Our data indicate that the U-87 human glioma in vitro and in the xenografted rats is responsive to PDT. At these doses, a reproducible injury can be delivered to human glioma in this model. Strategies to spare the normal brain collateral damage are being studied.
