Objectives: The purpose of this study is investigate the influences of childhood abuse experience, discipline styles and social support on childcare efficacy according to socio-demographic backgrounds of childcare teachers. Method: For this study's purpose, 200 childcare teachers working at children's schools in J city were surveyed and analyzed for child abuse experience, discipline styles, social support and childcare efficacy. Frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis were used as study methods. Results: The results of this study are as follows. First, there were statistically significant differences in childhood abuse experiences according to the general characteristics of childcare teachers in the sub-domain of occupational position and marriage status. Second, childcare efficacy and social support were positively correlated, and discipline styles and childcare efficacy were negatively correlated, but there was no correlation between social support and abuse experience. Third, general teaching efficacy regarding childcare efficacy showed a statistical influence of physical abuse, which is a sub-variable of childhood abuse experience. The general efficacy of teaching showed a statistically significant influence on logical discipline and coercive discipline, which are sub-variables of discipline methods. The general teaching efficacy in terms of childcare efficacy showed a statistically significant influence in the family variable which is a sub-variable of social support. The personal teaching efficacy within childcare efficacy showed a statistically significant influence in the logical discipline, a sub-variable of physical abuse, and disciple styles, a sub-variable of childhood abuse experience. Conclusion: From these findings, childcare teachers' childhood abuse experience was a factor affecting childcare efficacy in discipline, social support, and sub-variables. Therefore, it is necessary to remedy the effects of childhood abuse experience, encourage appropriate discipline styles, and to encourage social support in order to improve the childcare efficacy among childcare teachers.

Cilia are highly specialized organelles that extend from the cell membrane and function as cellular signaling hubs. Thus, cilia formation and the trafficking of signaling molecules into cilia are essential cellular processes. TULP3 and Tubby (TUB) are members of the tubby-like protein (TULP) family that regulate the ciliary trafficking of G-protein coupled receptors, but the functions of the remaining TULPs (i.e., TULP1 and TULP2) remain unclear. Herein, we explore whether these four structurally similar TULPs share a molecular function in ciliary protein trafficking. We found that TULP3 and TUB, but not TULP1 or TULP2, can rescue the defective cilia formation observed in TULP3-knockout (KO) hTERT RPE-1 cells. TULP3 and TUB also fully rescue the defective ciliary localization of ARL13B, INPP5E, and GPR161 in TULP3 KO RPE-1 cells, while TULP1 and TULP2 only mediate partial rescues. Furthermore, loss of TULP3 results in abnormal IFT140 localization, which can be fully rescued by TUB and partially rescued by TULP1 and TULP2. TUB's capacity for binding IFT-A is essential for its role in cilia formation and ciliary protein trafficking in RPE-1 cells, whereas its capacity for PIP2 binding is required for proper cilia length and IFT140 localization. Finally, chimeric TULP1 containing the IFT-A binding domain of TULP3 fully rescues ciliary protein trafficking, but not cilia formation. Together, these two TULP domains play distinct roles in ciliary protein trafficking but are insufficient for cilia formation in RPE-1 cells. In addition, TULP1 and TULP2 play other unknown molecular roles that should be addressed in the future.
Seismic qualifications of electrical equipment, such as cabinet systems, have been emerging as the key area of nuclear power plants in Korea since the 2016 Gyeongju earthquake, including the high-frequency domain. In addition, electrical equipment was sensitive to the high-frequency ground motions during the past earthquake. Therefore, this paper presents the rocking behavior of the electrical cabinet system subjected to Reg. 1.60 and UHS. The high fidelity finite element (FE) model of the cabinet related to the shaking table test data was developed. In particular, the first two global modes of the cabinet from the experimental test were 16 Hz and 24 Hz, respectively. In addition, 30.05 Hz and 37.5 Hz were determined to be the first two local modes in the cabinet. The high fidelity FE model of the cabinet using the ABAQUS platform was extremely reconciled with shaking table tests. As a result, the dynamic properties of the cabinet were sensitive to electrical instruments, such as relays and switchboards, during the shaking table test. In addition, the amplification with respect to the vibration transfer function of the cabinet was observed on the third floor in the cabinet due to localized impact corresponding to the rocking phenomenon of the cabinet under Reg.1.60 and UHS. Overall, the rocking of the cabinet system can be caused by the low-frequency oscillations and higher peak horizontal acceleration.
CCCTC-binding factor (CTCF) critically contributes to 3D chromatin organization by determining topologically associated domain (TAD) borders. Although CTCF primarily binds at TAD borders, there also exist putative CTCF-binding sites within TADs, which are spread throughout the genome by retrotransposition. However, the detailed mechanism responsible for masking the putative CTCF-binding sites remains largely elusive. Here, we show that the ATP-dependent chromatin remodeler, chromodomain helicase DNA-binding 4 (CHD4), regulates chromatin accessibility to conceal aberrant CTCF-binding sites embedded in H3K9me3-enriched heterochromatic B2 short interspersed nuclear elements (SINEs) in mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs). Upon CHD4 depletion, these aberrant CTCF-binding sites become accessible and aberrant CTCF recruitment occurs within TADs, resulting in disorganization of local TADs. RNA-binding intrinsically disordered domains (IDRs) of CHD4 are required to prevent this aberrant CTCF binding, and CHD4 is critical for the repression of B2 SINE transcripts. These results collectively reveal that a CHD4-mediated mechanism ensures appropriate CTCF binding and associated TAD organization in mESCs.
Licensing the next-generation of nuclear reactor designs requires extensive use of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) to investigate system response to many operational conditions, identify possible accidental scenarios and predict their evolution to undesirable consequences that are to be prevented or mitigated via the deployment of adequate safety barriers. Deep Learning (DL) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can support M&S computationally by providing surrogates of the complex multi-physics high-fidelity models used for design. However, DL and AI are, generally, low-fidelity 'black-box' models that do not assure any structure based on physical laws and constraints, and may, thus, lack interpretability and accuracy of the results. This poses limitations on their credibility and doubts about their adoption for the safety assessment and licensing of novel reactor designs. In this regard, Physics Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) are receiving growing attention for their ability to integrate fundamental physics laws and domain knowledge in the neural networks, thus assuring credible generalization capabilities and credible predictions. This paper presents the use of PINNs as surrogate models for accidental scenarios simulation in Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs). A case study of a Loss of Heat Sink (LOHS) accidental scenario in a Nuclear Battery (NB), a unique class of transportable, plug-and-play microreactors, is considered. A PINN is developed and compared with a Deep Neural Network (DNN). The results show the advantages of PINNs in providing accurate solutions, avoiding overfitting, underfitting and intrinsically ensuring physics-consistent results.

This paper presents the results from reliability analyses of the current Eurocode 4 (EN 1994-1-1) and AISC 360-16 design models for predicting the resistance of headed stud shear connectors within profiled steel sheeting, when the ribs are oriented transverse to the supporting beam. For comparison purposes, the performance of the alternative "Luxembourg" and "Stuttgart" model were also considered. From an initial database of 611 push-out tests, 269 cases were included in the study, which ensured that the results were valid over a wide range of geometrical and material properties. It was found that the current EN 1994-1-1 design rules deliver a corrected partial safety factor γM* of around 2.0, which is significantly higher than the target value 1.25. Moreover, 179 tests fell within the domain of the concrete-related failure design equation. Notwithstanding this, the EN 1994-1-1 equations provide satisfactory results for re-entrant profiled sheeting. The AISC 360-16 design equation for steel failure covers 263 of the tests in the database and delivers 𝛾M*≈2.0. Conversely, whilst the alternative "Stuttgart" model provides an improvement over the current codes, only a corrected partial safety factor of 𝛾M*=1.47 is achieved. Finally, the alternative "Luxembourg" design model was found to deliver the required target value, with a corrected partial safety factor 𝛾M* between 1.21 and 1.28. Given the fact that the Luxembourg design model is the only model that achieved the target values required by EN 1990, it is recommended as a potential candidate for inclusion within the second generation of Eurocodes.
Given a domain X and a collection H of functions h : X → {0, 1}, the Vapnik-Chervonenkis (VC) dimension of H measures its complexity in an appropriate sense. In particular, the fundamental theorem of statistical learning says that a hypothesis class with finite VC-dimension is PAC learnable. Recent work by Fitzpatrick, Wyman, the fourth and seventh named authors studied the VC-dimension of a natural family of functions ℋ'2t(E) : 𝔽2q → {0, 1}, corresponding to indicator functions of circles centered at points in a subset E ⊆ 𝔽2q. They showed that when |E| is large enough, the VC-dimension of ℋ'2t(E) is the same as in the case that E = 𝔽2q. We study a related hypothesis class, ℋdt(E), corresponding to intersections of spheres in 𝔽dq, and ask how large E ⊆ 𝔽dq needs to be to ensure the maximum possible VC-dimension. We resolve this problem in all dimensions, proving that whenever |E| ≥ Cdqd-1/(d-1) for d ≥ 3, the VC-dimension of ℋdt(E) is as large as possible. We get a slightly stronger result if d = 3: this result holds as long as |E| ≥ C3q7/3. Furthermore, when d = 2 the result holds when |E| ≥ C2q7/4.

Noise and Radio-frequency interference or RFI causes a significant restriction on the Free induction Decay or FID signal detection of the Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance procedure. Therefore, using this method in non-isolated environments such as industry and ports requires extraordinary measures. For this purpose, noise reduction algorithms and increasing signal-to-noise-and-interference ratio or SNIR have been used. In this research, sodium nitrite has been used as a sample and algorithms have been tested in a non-isolated environment. The resonant frequencies for the 150 g of test sample were measured at 303 K at about 1 MHz and 3.4 MHz. The main novelty in this study was, (1) using two types of antennas in the receiver to improve adaptive noise and interference cancellation, (2) using a separate helical antenna in the transmitter to eliminate the duplexer, (3) estimating the noise before sending the pulse to calculate the weighting factors and reduce the noise by adaptive noise cancellation, (3) reject the interference by blanking algorithm, (4) pulse integration in the frequency domain to increase the SNR, and (5) increasing the detection speed by new pulse integration technique. By interference rejection and noise cancellation, the SNIR is improved to 9.24 dB at 1 MHz and to 7.28 dB at 3.4 MHz, and by pulse integration 44.8 dB FID signal amplification is achieved, and the FID signals are detected at 1.057 MHz and 3.402 MHz at room temperature.

We studied magnetic properties of co thin films deposited on Pd (111) surface, which attracted much attention recently due to the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, using magnetic circular dichroism(MCD). Special attention was paid on the effect of Pd capping and interface roughness on the direction of magnetic easy axis, and for that purpose MCD signals for all Co thicknesses were measured with two different ways : in-plane and out-of-plane geometry. In case of bare Co films deposited on smooth Pd(111) surface, no MCD signal was observed under 4$\AA$ co thickness. At 4$\AA$ Co thickness, MCD signal at the out-of-plane geometry was observed, and for thicker Co films, only in-plane MCD signal was measured. This type of magnetic easy axis transition has been reported for other cases like Co/Pt system. The effect of 5$\AA$ Pd capping on these bare Co films made an remarkable change on the transition of magnetic easy axis. Out-of-plane MCD signals exists up to 20$\AA$ Co thickness, and disappears at 24$\AA$ Co thickness. In-plane MCD signals first appears at 10$\AA$ Co thickness and gradually increases up to 24$\AA$ Co thickness. Between 10$\AA$ and 20$\AA$ Co thickness, in-plane and out-of-plane MCD signal coexist. The formation of multi-domain structure or the existence of tilted magnetic easy axis is an possible scenario for such an interesting coexistence. The effect of interface roughness was also tested by measuring MCD signal on Co films deposited on un-annealed Pd(111) surface. Out-of-plane MCD signal was observed up to 8$\AA$ Co thickness and the anisotropy of MCD signal at 4$\AA$ Co thickness was very large with respect to that of Co film deposited on the smooth substrate. Above 8$\AA$ thickness, there exists only in-plane MCD signal. From above results, it was concluded that both Pd capping and interface roughness induce and reenforce the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. The large perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of Co/Pd multilayer system made by sputtering method can be well understood from our results.
